Prehistoric horses from Chauvet cave in France

    Bleu Oleander: hi Eden :)
    Eden Haiku: Hello Bleu :)
    Bleu Oleander: how are you?
Eden Haiku: New Afro style this morning or just a bad hair day ?
    Bleu Oleander: ha!
    Eden Haiku: Joking :)
    Bleu Oleander: :)

Eden Haiku: Close by, it looks really good :)
    Bleu Oleander: an old look
Bleu Oleander: from my early sl days :)
Eden Haiku: I'm a bit exhausted this morning. :( [trying to excuse my lack of tact ...]
    Bleu Oleander: yes?
Eden Haiku: Watched the Oscars late and woke up early: last fine tuning of my poetry book today.

    --BELL--

Bleu Oleander: oh nice .... a new book?
Eden Haiku: Table of contents and such. Technical bugs...
Eden Haiku: Yes, in French. ;)
    Bleu Oleander: lovely
Eden Haiku: Sending it to the publisher this afternoon :)
Bleu Oleander: you are so talented!
Eden Haiku: Oh thank you Bleu, so are you :) New projects?
Bleu Oleander: thinking about a new art project ... wondering what to do next :)
    Eden Haiku: Ah!
Eden Haiku: Maybe something about "recording our thoughts in writing" with visuals?
Bleu Oleander: we have been really busy in rl and I haven't had time to focus on my art
Bleu Oleander: oh nice idea Eden
Eden Haiku: Reading the last guardian session about "Being a guardian" and then seeing some people are still questioning the "recording" of our sessions, I think that would be a nice reflection...
    Bleu Oleander: ah yes
Bleu Oleander: perhaps we could do this project together?
Eden Haiku: Committing things to writing seems so important to me.
Eden Haiku: Yes Bleu, we could do that. Sure :)
    Bleu Oleander: Being Recorded
Bleu Oleander: using writing and art
    Bleu Oleander: I like that
Eden Haiku: Having records. .. yes Being recorded, lovely Bleu!
Eden Haiku: Scribing our way into art.
Bleu Oleander: addressing the different aspects of recording using writing and art
    Eden Haiku: yes!
Bleu Oleander: so has a connection to history
    Bleu Oleander: hi Eliza
Eden Haiku: Good morning beautiful flowing Eliza :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Ladies :)
Bleu Oleander: Eden and I just came up with a new Art of Being project possibility
Eliza Madrigal: ahhh so sweet. Lovely to see you both
    Eliza Madrigal: Oh?
    Eliza Madrigal: listens...
    Bleu Oleander: Being Recorded
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Mirshann and Xirana
    Eliza Madrigal: OooooooooooooO
Bleu Oleander: using writing and art
Eden Haiku: Yes, inspired by the last guardian session
    Xirana Oximoxi: hello all:)
Eliza Madrigal: how interesting... say more?
Bleu Oleander: has a nice connection to history
    Eden Haiku: Welcome Mirsham!
Bleu Oleander: and different ways people have been telling their stories
Eden Haiku: Please have a seat and join our conversation :)
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Ya and nice to see you again Mirshann/X
    Yakuzza Lethecus: good morning everyone
Bleu Oleander: Hi Xirana, Yaku and Mirshann
Eden Haiku: Hello Xirana, nice to see you :)
    Eden Haiku: Hi Yakuzza :))
Eliza Madrigal: that's what I was contemplating this morning.... different ways of seeing and telling...
    Xirana Oximoxi: hi Yaku Mirsham
Eliza Madrigal: how would it look in practice?
Eden Haiku: And the importance of keeping records of our processing
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hi everyone ~waves~

    The Cave of Forgotten Dreams

    Get Adobe Flash player

Bleu Oleander: btw we are going to view the new 3D movies "the Cave of Forgotten Dreams" by Herzog
Eden Haiku: Oh hi SophiaSharon, nice to see you this morning :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Oh... where Bleu?
Bleu Oleander: about a recently discovered cave in France
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Sharon :)
    Bleu Oleander: in rl
    Eliza Madrigal: nice!
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey ssl
Bleu Oleander: has a similar theme
    Bleu Oleander: hi Sharon
    Eliza Madrigal listens...
    Bleu Oleander: early cave paintings
    Eliza Madrigal: Hey Sun :)
Eden Haiku: The mysterious woman in black with no name hovering her head :))
    Bleu Oleander: writing and art
    Xirana Oximoxi: hi Sun:)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hi Sun
    Eden Haiku: Hello Sunshine!
    Bleu Oleander: hi Sun
    Sunshine Vayandar: ;) salut
    Eden Haiku: Bonjour :))
SophiaSharon Larnia: recently discovered cave, Bleu?
    Bleu Oleander: yes
Bleu Oleander: not many have even been in it
SophiaSharon Larnia: and nice to see you too Eden, sorry missed that :)
    Eden Haiku: :)
Eliza Madrigal: so the project would be a kind of cave exploring of the history of the logs? hehe
    SophiaSharon Larnia: wb Sun
Eden Haiku: Kind of yes :)))
    Bleu Oleander: oh interesting Eliza
Sunshine Vayandar: ty ;) my connection is still very slow
Eden Haiku: A theory of records kind of :)
Eden Haiku: Back to Egyptian scribes ...
Bleu Oleander: how we record our stories
Eliza Madrigal: ah... hm... what a neat idea
    Yakuzza Lethecus: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chauvet_Cave
Eliza Madrigal is bummed to hear you're having internet issues Sun... see you signing off and on a lot :(
Eden Haiku: We dive in the logs and bring back gems scintillating new lights :)

    --BELL--

Bleu Oleander: yes, nice Eden :)
Bleu Oleander: so using words from the logs and art to embellish them?
Eliza Madrigal: the detail on those horses (in the cave pictures) is astounding
Eden Haiku: Yes, like from dreams sometimes we just remember like words on the wall...
    Bleu Oleander: http://www.wernerherzog.com/index.php?id=64
Eliza Madrigal: dreams is an interesting way of viewing...
Eden Haiku: Oh the beautiful horses, just imagining these primitive painters having a wiki of their own with these colors on stone...
    SophiaSharon Larnia: thanks Bleu
Bleu Oleander: so that's interesting, giving the words from the logs a new interpretation ... a fresh re-visit using art?

    Immortal data

Eliza Madrigal: well... important probably still not to interpret too much? but we can share what we think of when reading someone's words?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hi Freud :)
Eden Haiku: And maybe digging just a few words but putting them in a shining frame so to speak...
    Bleu Oleander: exactly Eden
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hi freud
    Freud Jungsten: bozho
    Bleu Oleander: hi Freud
Eliza Madrigal: ah...yes... there have been exquisite lines I've isolated before and thought of again and again
    Sunshine Vayandar: hi Freud ;)
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Freud
Eden Haiku: More like in poetry Eliza I would think, just using the words as material for drawing and painting and expanding...
    Xirana Oximoxi: hi Freud
    Eden Haiku: Hi Freud!
    Freud Jungsten: heya
    Xirana Oximoxi: visual poetry?
    Freud Jungsten: Dance.
Eden Haiku: Maybe it would be nice to hear everybody this morning about what they think about creating records, having written records. I personally like the records very much. Archives are SOO important in the transmission of values from ancient times.
Eliza Madrigal: some of the evening sessions have turned into poetry and then the guardian has trimmed away enough to make a poem
Eliza Madrigal: but left the actual session too
SophiaSharon Larnia wonders what will happen to the internet, if the data is really almost immortal

Cultural bias: written records, oral traditions and a little misunderstanding

Freud Jungsten: I think you have a cultural bias toward written histories Eden.
Eliza Madrigal deeply values the logs ... very much a part of what makes PaB a practice for me rather than just a chat room
Eden Haiku: Well, no Eliza, something completely different: just using some elements of posted logs from the past and inserting them like jewels in a work of art.
Freud Jungsten: The existence of a written record is very culturally specific.
Eden Haiku: I have a cultural bias Freud, yes. I have European roots as well as Native Indian roots and they struggle with each other :))
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :)
Eliza Madrigal: yes part of what we read in records, is the view
Bleu Oleander: (slips out quietly .... take care all )
    SophiaSharon Larnia: bye Bleu :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Bye Bleu :)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: take care bleu
    Xirana Oximoxi: bye Bleu:)
    Bleu Oleander: bye:)
Freud Jungsten: My point is that cultural strength can not be judged by the existence of a written record.
Eden Haiku: Native Indians did record their dreams in the House of Dreams, immaterial and fluid like the wind.
    Sunshine Vayandar: byebyee Bleu ;)
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
    Eliza Madrigal is pondering...
SophiaSharon Larnia: cultures without written records are not as well known, difficult to learn about them
Eden Haiku: And they transmitted their culture and stories and knowledge through oral transmission yes,
Freud Jungsten: India has a very strong written history though.
Freud Jungsten: Sanscrit is a very old language.
    Freud Jungsten: very
Eden Haiku: But this kind of transmission need being in physical presence doesn't it?
Freud Jungsten: I so can't type today. lol
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :)
Eliza Madrigal: not sure Eden.... don't many authors 'come through' in writings...
Eden Haiku: I was talking about Native Indians from America Freud, not Indian from India.
Freud Jungsten: lol.. I prefer the term First American or Native American.. and by the way the way, I am CHerokee.
Freud Jungsten: wow... I am so lagged.
SophiaSharon Larnia: yes, i noticed a lag blip for a few mins
Xirana Oximoxi: yes, writing words have made 'time' and 'space' not so important for communication as oral speech
Eden Haiku: I have some Algonquin blood from North America Freud. I'm French speaking from Montreal so Native American or First American doesn't cover it for me :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: interesting Xirana
Eliza Madrigal: how interesting... both... so many distinctions
Freud Jungsten: But I am certainly not form India.. so the term Indian does not work either.

    --BELL--

    Factoring the view

Xirana Oximoxi: thanks of writing Greeks still communicate with us
    Eliza Madrigal waves to Korii
    Korii Tiger smiles
    Sunshine Vayandar: hi Korii ;)
SophiaSharon Larnia: bye all, Ive missed am sessions, so nice to see you all. :))
Eden Haiku: Yes Xirana, it allows time travelling.
    Freud Jungsten: ciao bella
    Eliza Madrigal: bye Sharon :)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hello korii
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :) bye bye
    Eden Haiku: Bye Sharon!
    Xirana Oximoxi: bye Sharon
    Yakuzza Lethecus: bye ssl
    Sunshine Vayandar: byebye Sharon
Eden Haiku: Welcome back Sunshine :)
    Sunshine Vayandar: ty Eden ;)
Eliza Madrigal: I've thought a lot about educational textbooks, and how in modern life we don't (well some do) teach children that 'this' interpretation is 'the' one
Xirana Oximoxi: 'alfabet' has brought one of the most important changes in humanity..
Eliza Madrigal: that there is a view there
Eliza Madrigal: I think factoring the view is crucial...
Eliza Madrigal: and also that every view has blindspots
Eliza Madrigal: and lots of 'unknown'
Eliza Madrigal: showing 'that' is a kind of art too?
Xirana Oximoxi: what do you mean ' this' interpretation is 'the' one' Eliza?
Eliza Madrigal: well used to be that in textbooks or news shows, things were displayed as 'what happened'
Eliza Madrigal: and now, granted, it has run amuck, but generally ...
Eliza Madrigal: we are reading a little more critically
Eden Haiku: Ah pretending to the truth, I see what you mean...The map is not the territory, we have to remember that all the time :))
Eliza Madrigal: My kids 'see' the advertisements, for instance
    Eliza Madrigal: YES
Eden Haiku: Also, lots of back channels everywhere
    Eliza Madrigal nods
Eden Haiku: You mean they can decode the ads? Great!
Sunshine Vayandar: sorry all it's a bit too busy here - best if I go - take care ;)
    Eliza Madrigal: Bye Sun :)
    Sunshine Vayandar: byebyee
Eden Haiku: Have a great day Sun!
    Freud Jungsten: Ciao
    Xirana Oximoxi: bye Sun:)
Eliza Madrigal: was thinking hat the recording is strength of things here because we know it is there.... all over SL people can record, but being open about it and posting our sessions and views... there is more awareness... more active
Eliza Madrigal: in itself it is a 'coming back' a waking up to pay attention
Eden Haiku: Is the fact that Kira, Mirshann and Korii are being here and not here at the same time, is it interfering with your feeling of the conversation going on? [the three amazon angels spreading wide pairs of wings were generating a lot of lag, as Sunshine seemed to experience before she decided to leave. I decided to check with others if they were inconvenienced. Korii then kindly let go of both Mirshann and Kira, returning things to normal]
Eden Haiku: What do you think Korii?
    Freud Jungsten: lol
Eliza Madrigal thinks she needs coffee...hehe
    Xirana Oximoxi: :)
    Freud Jungsten: Don't we all.
Freud Jungsten: Waiting for my next class to start.
    Eden Haiku: hehe

What are we guarding? Two threads develop and intertwine: what it means being a guardian and this story I remember reading about how the word "guardian" was adopted in earlier PaB times.

Eden Haiku: Being a guardian...what is it really, what are we guarding?
Eden Haiku: Steve's question is do profound...
Eliza Madrigal: I really do think we could have that conversation every week for a long time
Eliza Madrigal: would love to hear everyone's gut response...
    Eliza Madrigal: off the cuff
Eden Haiku: Not sure if you are a guardian Freud, sorry if we talk shop :)
Eliza Madrigal: well it is relevant to present and possible future guardians also
Eliza Madrigal: anyone who takes part in recording and sessions
Eden Haiku: Xirana isn't either... yet at least :)
    Eliza Madrigal: ?
Freud Jungsten: I am sooooo NOT one.. lol.. enjoy that.
    Eliza Madrigal: :))
Eden Haiku: I remember reading this beautiful story by Genesis.
Xirana Oximoxi: I'm not :)... and I think one must have more time here
Eden Haiku: How the word was chosen.
Eliza Madrigal: we have a few people who come a lot with no real interest in guardianing.. its funny
    Eliza Madrigal: Oh, listens Eden....
Xirana Oximoxi: to know exactly how it works
Eden Haiku: A RL friend of hers had made a drawing of a raven.
Eden Haiku: Offered it to Pema/Piet in Berkeley I think...

    --BELL--

Eden Haiku: And it said: "Guardian" under the drawing
Eden Haiku: Or maybe "guardian of silence"
Yakuzza Lethecus:/xirana: i think i was even less frequently here before i was asked to become a guardian and actually the point at which i "understood everything" never came, so till today i hope for more "enlightened" reflections then my own
Eden Haiku: Good point Yak :)))
Eliza Madrigal smiles @ Yaku... yes there is never a point when we pin down what we are doing...
Eden Haiku: This point might never come for any of us so... :)))
Xirana Oximoxi: ok ok... KNOWING THAT i WILL THINK ABOUT WHAT MUST i DO TO BECOME A GUARDIAN:)
Xirana Oximoxi: sorry for capital letters
Eliza Madrigal: that may be your point re Dream recording and cave drawings Eden?
Yakuzza Lethecus: maybe not pinning it down is what dropping is all along
Eliza Madrigal: YES @ Yaku, I feel that
Eden Haiku: You are already in my heart Xirana :))
Eliza Madrigal: ah... yes remembering Genesis's story Eden....
Eden Haiku: Xirana guardian of my heart :))
Eliza Madrigal:*** it was "Guardian of the void"***
Eden Haiku: Will dig it up in the cave of logs for posting it in this log!

"genesis Zhangsun: I can tell you what I think was the inspiration behind the Guardian name

genesis Zhangsun: is that what you are asking?

Adams Rubble: That would be great

genesis Zhangsun: Well the person who made the introduction to Pema possible was a girl who worked at the Cafe, who is a friend of mine

    genesis Zhangsun: in RL

genesis Zhangsun: she is an artist

genesis Zhangsun: before Pema left Berkeley

    genesis Zhangsun: I asked her

genesis Zhangsun: to draw something for Pema as a gift

genesis Zhangsun: that drawing was of a raven

genesis Zhangsun: she called it "Guardian of the Void"

    Adams Rubble: :)

genesis Zhangsun: this was around the same time Guardian emerged"

    In the Chronicles:

    http://wiki.playasbeing.org/Chronicles/Chapter_04:_The_First_Months/C._Genesis

Xirana seemed to be pleased I had declared her: "guardian of my heart' and she went into a cute little dance on a silly music and we kind of take a break

    Xirana Oximoxi: haha
Xirana Oximoxi: yes Eden with pleasure:)
Eden Haiku: Yes "guardian of the Void"!
    Yakuzza Lethecus: :)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)) Eden
Eden Haiku: Nice little dance Xirana:)
Eliza Madrigal: I do generally read and post and highlight that way... treasure hunting
Eliza Madrigal: not that it couldn't be done from a totally different angle another day
Eden Haiku: Yes, and when Pema saw the painting he said that's what we need for Play as Being: guardians of the void!
Eliza Madrigal: snapshot of a moment
Xirana Oximoxi: this 'dance happens when I write 'ha ha'
    Xirana Oximoxi: hehe
    Eliza Madrigal grins @ X
    Xirana Oximoxi: :)
    Eden Haiku: Neat
    Eden Haiku: 'ha ha'
Eden Haiku: Doesn't work for me :((
    Xirana Oximoxi: haha
    Eden Haiku: haha
    Eden Haiku: Nope :(
    Eliza Madrigal: haha
Yakuzza Lethecus: actually i have none of you in a pattern of believing that you would like this kind of music :)
Xirana Oximoxi: yes... I must look for it in my Inventory..if I find I give it to you:)
    Eden Haiku: needs to activate...
Eliza Madrigal: oh is it music Ya? heheh
Freud Jungsten: Off to class... ciao all.
Eliza Madrigal grins and thinks Yaku would be surprised by all I listen to... :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Bye Freud :)
    Eden Haiku: Thanks Yaku!
    Eden Haiku: Bye Freud!
    Yakuzza Lethecus: bye freud
Eliza Madrigal: thanks X, Yaku gave me one as well
Eden Haiku: haha [this time it worked: I got to dance the silly dance]
    Xirana Oximoxi: ahhh ok!! :)
Eden Haiku: Yaku gave me some :))
Eliza Madrigal: Oh, I like the animation because I got to see Eden's whole outfit... pretty!
    Eden Haiku: haha
    Eden Haiku: haha
    Xirana Oximoxi: brb

Should we have an ongoing discussion in sessions about "being a guardian" ?

Eliza Madrigal: I wonder if we should have an ongoing discussion re the guardian issue....
Eden Haiku: Voice is not too feminine but what the heck :))
Eliza Madrigal: how to do that
Eden Haiku: Yes, that's a wonderful topic Eliza.
    Xirana Oximoxi: wd
Eliza Madrigal: sort of like the being sessions, maybe
    Eliza Madrigal: ?
Eden Haiku: At the Sunday guardian meeting ?
Eliza Madrigal: hm... yes maybe continue there, though not all attend including some who ask questions in the email
Eden Haiku: In sessions would be nice but maybe annoying a bit for people who aren't guardians?
Xirana Oximoxi: I'll read the rules to become a guardian.. is it difficult work?? :)
    Eliza Madrigal: hm, good point
Eliza Madrigal is IMing X about guardianing...
Eden Haiku: No rules Xirana :) An invitation that's all...
Yakuzza Lethecus: no, xirana, in principle you have to be here for 30 minutes
Yakuzza Lethecus: tell everyone about the 90 seconds and 9 sec meditation
    Xirana Oximoxi: oh!... easy:)
Yakuzza Lethecus: as well as the logging
Yakuzza Lethecus: and you have to post the logfile afterwards
Eden Haiku: If we start at the end by the way, you already are a guardian Xirana.
Yakuzza Lethecus: which i still haven't done from friday
Yakuzza Lethecus always wonders how many guardians actually know that they only have to be here for 30 minutes O_o :)
Eden Haiku: This log won't be posted before Wednesday: I'm sending my book to the publisher this afternoon and tomorrow is very busy too :)
Eliza Madrigal: yes I think most set an hour for themselves
    Eliza Madrigal: I do generally
Xirana Oximoxi: oh! I'm a guardian?? lol
Xirana Oximoxi: it sounds a little like BIG responsibility!!!
Eden Haiku: A way of seeing Xirana :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Not so big...
Eliza Madrigal: people have different personalities, so one person takes it lightly
Eliza Madrigal: and another thinks OH NO I have to figure out everything and catch up !
Eden Haiku: Yes, its a job you "format" yourself in a way...
    Eliza Madrigal nods
Eliza Madrigal: with a few guidelines and tasks, generally, if people take them on
Eliza Madrigal: not everyone who is a guardian hosts a session
    Eliza Madrigal: many don't
Eden Haiku: It's yet to be discovered. I like your idea of discussing it in sessions Eliza.
Eden Haiku: I see the role in a very poetic way, like pillars of light or something...

Guardians of smiles drawing on water

    Eliza Madrigal: mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
    Eden Haiku: Guardians of silence
    Xirana Oximoxi: :)

Eliza Madrigal: like drawing on water?

Eden Haiku: Oh, sorry. Didn't mean to be invasive Yak ;))

Yakuzza Lethecus: good that you can cut this part out later eden :)
    Eliza Madrigal grins
    Xirana Oximoxi: :))

Eden Haiku: Will edit that part Yaku, no worries ::)))
    Yakuzza Lethecus: thx!
Eden Haiku: Juicy gossiping edited out, that's so sad :)))
Eden Haiku: But being a faithful guardian of trust I will :))
    Eliza Madrigal giggles
Xirana Oximoxi: I will go now... the secret will be very well kept (save) :))
    Eden Haiku: giggling too
Eliza Madrigal: I like that... guardian of trust
