Wol Euler was guardian for this session.

    Wol Euler: good morning, egg.
eggsalad Ormstein: hi wol. looks kinda dead tonite
    Wol Euler smiles.
Wol Euler: sundays are often very slow
Wol Euler: but in fairness it is 01:01
eggsalad Ormstein: yes, I suppose it is. it still feels like sat nite to me
    Wol Euler: heheh
Wol Euler: yes, I can see that. I always thought that "the next day" didn't begin until I went to bed, whatever time of the a.m. that was :)
Wol Euler: still do think that, actually.
eggsalad Ormstein: and since I get out of work at 11, 1am is still wind down time
    Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: coffee machine just peeped, back in a mo
    eggsalad Ormstein: kk
    Wol Euler: back
    eggsalad Ormstein: wb
    Wol Euler: ty
eggsalad Ormstein: so you're waking up?
    Wol Euler: mmhmm
Wol Euler: my day is just starting, I'm wondering what to do with it :)
eggsalad Ormstein: and mine is just ending!
Wol Euler: there are a few fixed points: laundry, brunch, reading
    Wol Euler smiles.
Wol Euler: the roundness of the world is a perpetual delight
Wol Euler: except when it's annoying
eggsalad Ormstein: which point are you on?
    Wol Euler: southern Germany
Wol Euler: oh, point of hte list! duh.
    Wol Euler: too early.
Wol Euler: I'm not yet on that list :)
eggsalad Ormstein: no, I meant point on the globe
Wol Euler: this is the pre-list: coffee, pab, light music
eggsalad Ormstein: my german is pretty poor
Wol Euler: I'm impressed enough that it exists at all.
Wol Euler: most Americans are staunch monoglots.
eggsalad Ormstein: well, at one time, I was fairly fluent in Yiddish, which is remarkably close to German
    Wol Euler: ah :)
    Wol Euler: quite similar, yes

    Wol Euler: good morning qt
eggsalad Ormstein: and I work in a very multicultural company, so I learn bits of many languages
    Wol Euler smiles.
    Qt Core: hi Wol, eggsalad
Wol Euler: that's good, I like the sound of that
Wol Euler: that was one thing I loved about living in London (and Toronto, and visiting New York): the huge range of languages spoken on the street
Wol Euler: eavesdropping was such fun, and a challenge
Qt Core: even here, Milan is becoming like that, not yet used to it, sometime it make me feel like a stranger in my own country
    Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: it's different in Europe, where the immigrants are a small minority in a single cultural block
Qt Core: especially when i couldn't understand not even which language they are speaking
Qt Core: (today i will come and go as i'm already on kitchen duty ;-) )
    Wol Euler: :)
    Wol Euler: that's OK, it's a slow morning/evening
Qt Core: yestedray the Sanremo song festival ended, and for the first time in a couple decades the song i liked won: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHdy7RbXKJM
    Wol Euler: ah :)
    Wol Euler listens

    --BELL--

Qt Core: titled "chiamami ancora amore" call me love again
    Wol Euler smiles.
    Qt Core: litycs here: http://www.allworldlyrics.com/2011/t...testo-canzone/
Wol Euler: y'know, I was about to say "I can't imagine somebody dressed like that winning a song contest in the US or England"
Qt Core: the love he is speaking is more that the one from his partner
Wol Euler: but Susan Thingy did win. Quality comes through
Qt Core: the funny thing about the singer (Roberto Vecchioni) is that even if he is a famous one his main job is history/philosophy professor in high school
    Wol Euler smiles.
Qt Core: there is anothe singer (that i love)in italy that while famous had another main job, Enzo Jannacci, main job ? Cardiologist
    Wol Euler: heh
Wol Euler: that pleases me, somehow.
Wol Euler laughs. Google translates "Roberto Vecchioni" as "Roberta Flack" :)
Wol Euler: says that she won the festival
Qt Core: well, a more faithfull translation would be Robert Bigolds ;-)
    Qt Core: or Bigageds
    Wol Euler: indeed :)
Wol Euler: machine translation has a long way to go yet :)

    --BELL--

Qt Core: people that would understand italian are invited to search on you tube for "benigni sanremo 2011" prima/seconda /terza (first/second/third part
Qt Core: as 2011 is the 150 of the unification of italy he went to sanremo and explained our anthem like he did when explained some Divina Commedia chapters, he is a very knowledgable man in literature besdide being a great comic
Wol Euler: well, I didn't know that. Happy birthday, Italia.
Qt Core: ;-) adly we are finding ways to fight between us even on that :-(
    Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: how's the northern separatist movement doing?
Qt Core: quite good as they are part, a big part of the current cabinet
    Wol Euler: :(
Wol Euler: I wonder whether they would secede from the European Union too, or just from the rest of Italy?
Qt Core: they aren't anymore really secessionist, they are getting some form of federation, mostly in we keep the tax money where they are collected
Wol Euler: so the rich get richer and the poor get fucked? It was ever thus.
Qt Core: mostly, in thge usual "if you are poor you deserve it"
    Wol Euler: yep
Wol Euler: the voice of ancient privilege
Qt Core: so, sometimes i feel i have to restrain myself in my "pride" in my northern roots as i don't want to be confused with them
Wol Euler: yes, that is so true. People like that abuse words like "patriotism" and "pride"
    Wol Euler: turn them dirty

    --BELL--

Qt Core: so, wol, did you see the end of your mailbox ? ;-)
    Wol Euler: not yet :(
Wol Euler: I'm going to have to go through that and just delete whole sections (by topic)
Wol Euler: the greetings of new members, for example.
Wol Euler waves. Hello, new members!
Qt Core: i just remembered about a mailbox (quite trafficed) that i forgot to check in a couple months...
    Wol Euler: :)
Qt Core: i was going to suggest that (but feared to be rude to the welcomers)
    Wol Euler nods.
Qt Core: i need to go, taxi duty over cooking ones ;-)
    Wol Euler: :)
Wol Euler: bye qt, enjoy the day.
    eggsalad Ormstein: bye qt
Wol Euler: and thank you for the music
Qt Core: ty, you too bye all!
    Wol Euler: http://www.dilbert.com/2011-02-20/
    eggsalad Ormstein: lol
    Wol Euler giggles.
Wol Euler: He does have a point.
Wol Euler listens to the birds, and sips coffee.

    Alfred Kelberry: meep!
    Alfred Kelberry: woly, eggs :)
    Wol Euler: Meep Meep ;P :p:P :p :P
    eggsalad Ormstein: hi al
Alfred Kelberry: what's the topic? :)
    Wol Euler: silence?
    Alfred Kelberry: oh
Wol Euler: we were talking about Italy and music
Alfred Kelberry: i'm in the middle of stracing nginx and thought i'd pop in :)
Alfred Kelberry: not sure i'm familiar with italian music
    Wol Euler: "stracing nginx" ???
Alfred Kelberry: yes, it's giving me 500
Wol Euler: are you sure of the spelling of those words? :;-P
Alfred Kelberry: says descriptor is non-blocking, but it tries a blocking call on it
Alfred Kelberry: um... i think so :)
    Wol Euler googles "nginx"
Wol Euler: ah, there we go :)
Wol Euler: okay, so what is "stracing"?
Wol Euler: the verb "to strac" I suppose.
    Alfred Kelberry: strace :)
    Wol Euler snorts.
Alfred Kelberry: "trace system calls and signals"
    Wol Euler: leetspk
Wol Euler: I should have known
Alfred Kelberry: it's a popular linux tool
    Wol Euler: :)
Alfred Kelberry: along with a popular server nginx :)
    Wol Euler: silly me.
Wol Euler: I must have missed that memo.
Alfred Kelberry: dilbert is neat :)
    Wol Euler smiles.
Alfred Kelberry: the site looks all flashy and webtwoee
Alfred Kelberry: i've watched kung fu panda holiday special today :)
    Wol Euler grins.
Alfred Kelberry: i love this cartoon and characters
    Wol Euler: yep
Wol Euler: it alternates between "very funny" and "painfully true"
Alfred Kelberry: i wonder how popular it is in china :)
    Wol Euler: heheh
    Alfred Kelberry: shashabooee! :)
    Wol Euler: bless you.
Alfred Kelberry: i love your hat, woly :)
    Alfred Kelberry: very elegant
Alfred Kelberry: as the rest of you :)
Wol Euler: ty, it's all part of the outfit
    Wol Euler: except the boots
Alfred Kelberry: oh, i finally see my clothes :)
    Alfred Kelberry: um...
    Wol Euler: ?
Alfred Kelberry: what's the difference between woly in a fancy feather black swan dress or woly in pajamas? :)
    Wol Euler: heheheheheh
    Wol Euler: tell us

    --BELL--

    Wol Euler braces herself.
Alfred Kelberry: i'm thinking along the lines of how influential clothes is
    Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: have a look at Gracie Kendal's 1000 avatars project :)
Alfred Kelberry: you do look sexier in these boots, but pajama has its own sexiness :)
Wol Euler: i could wear pj's and boots ...
    Alfred Kelberry: haha
    Alfred Kelberry: perfect :)
Alfred Kelberry: meh, i'm being distracted, sorry :)
    Wol Euler: np
Wol Euler: it's a slow morning
Wol Euler: how are you doing, Egg? still with us?

    --BELL--

Wol Euler: well, my dears, I'm getting hungry. I'm going to go and make brunch. Enjoy your sundays :)
