Eliza Madrigal: I was pondering the park I took the kids to this morning... the spider strings that looked like the edges made with giant bubble wands....
Eden Haiku: Birds flying in synchrony
    Sunshine Vayandar: spider strings
Eden Haiku: Oh Eliza, looks beautiful...
Eliza Madrigal: I thought "Wow this is perfect why don't I do this every day" then realized that I think that at some point nearly every day, in various places... haha

    Eliza Madrigal giggles
    Sunshine Vayandar: deja pense
    Sunshine Vayandar: hmm
    Eliza Madrigal: hmm
Eliza Madrigal: I'd not been familiar with that term...
Eliza Madrigal: In Deja  pense, a completely new thought sounds familiar to the person and he feels as he has thought the same thing before at some time.
Eliza Madrigal: (wiki of psychiatric terms)
Eden Haiku: A web picture is traveling through corridors towards here :)
    Bleu Oleander: hi Xirana :)
    Xirana Oximoxi: hello to all:)
    Sunshine Vayandar: ;)
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Xirana :)
    Sunshine Vayandar: hi Xirana ;)
Eden Haiku: ah. Sounds like "cryptomnesia" a bit.
Xirana Oximoxi: hi Sun Bleu Eliza and Eden :))
    Sunshine Vayandar: ;)
Eden Haiku: Forgetting that you read some thought somewhere and thinking it is your own.
    Eliza Madrigal: hm, yes
Eden Haiku: Freud seemed to have been a great "cryptomnesiac" :)
Eliza Madrigal: I tend to think 'everything' I think is that

Bleu's trip to LA with her RL group meeting an art director who worked on the movie Avatar

Eliza Madrigal: Bleu, are you busy with the salon? missed you last week
Bleu Oleander: yes, was in LA
Eliza Madrigal: :) Nice! Everything go well?
    Bleu Oleander: wonderful trip
    Bleu Oleander: LA was amazing
Aphrodite Macbain: what did you do in LA?
Eliza Madrigal: Who did you see?
Bleu Oleander: hadn't been there in a long time
Bleu Oleander: met an art director who worked on Avatar
    Eliza Madrigal: oooo
    Bleu Oleander: very cool
    Bleu Oleander: motion capture
Aphrodite Macbain: did he/she teach you new skills?
Bleu Oleander: well it was interesting how much it was like sl
Bleu Oleander: how AO's are made
Xirana Oximoxi: may I ask what is 'LA'?
Bleu Oleander: sorry, Los Angeles, CA
    Xirana Oximoxi: ahh OK thanks!!!
Eliza Madrigal: I was surprised to hear Cameron sort of downplay something like SL in relation to Avatar... that it wasn't a big influence... not that he poo poo 'ed it
    Xirana Oximoxi: :)
    Sunshine Vayandar: ty Eden ;)
    Aphrodite Macbain: California
    Aphrodite Macbain: who is Cameron?
Eliza Madrigal: James Cameron director of Avatar
    Eden Haiku: Spiderweb connections :))
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Bleu Oleander: well yes, sl not the magnitude of major motion picture
Bleu Oleander: but some of the ideas as the same
Aphrodite Macbain: oh, him why did he pooh pooh it?
    Eliza Madrigal: yes
Eliza Madrigal: No, he didn't.. but also didn't cite it as an influence per se, in an interview I watched

    "Mindsight" by Dan Siegel

Bleu Oleander: we also met Dan Siegel, who wrote "mindsight"
Bleu Oleander: mindfulness and the brain
Eliza Madrigal: it seems the most mainstream virtual medium but maybe I'm naive :)
Eliza Madrigal: Oh, yes how was that?
Aphrodite Macbain: fascinating. Is he a neuroscientist?
    Bleu Oleander: yes, Aph
    Bleu Oleander: great conversation
    Eliza Madrigal: mind tentacles...
Aphrodite Macbain: Mindsight. I'll see if I can find it
Aphrodite Macbain: what did you talk about?
Bleu Oleander: we also met two professors/researchers at UCLA
Aphrodite Macbain: was this a trip you had set up yourself Bleu?
Bleu Oleander: we talked about the benefits of mindfulness and integration
Bleu Oleander: yes, for our RL group
Aphrodite Macbain: integration into our lives?
Eden Haiku: Mindfulness and integration, that sounds very good!
Bleu Oleander: integration in brain states
Eden Haiku: Welcome back Xirana. Trouble with connection?
Aphrodite Macbain wonders what that means
Aphrodite Macbain: integration of brain states
Xirana Oximoxi: yes.. it's very bad today..mysteries of technology! :)
Sunshine Vayandar: it's been for me for weeks hmm
    Eden Haiku: ;)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey zen
    Aphrodite Macbain: glad you're back
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Zen :)
    Bleu Oleander: http://drdansiegel.com/
    Aphrodite Macbain: Thanks Bleu
    Eden Haiku: Hi Zen :)
    Sunshine Vayandar: hi Zen ;)
Aphrodite Macbain: Did that give you any new ideas for Art as Being?

Xirana brings up a fascinating philosophical topic: Ubuntu

Xirana Oximoxi: I wanted to talk about 'Ubuntu' to Sun...
Eliza Madrigal: integration seems to be about effortlessness... about processing in ways that outflow naturally into our lives?
    Zen Arado: Hi all
Bleu Oleander: yes, lots of ideas
Xirana Oximoxi: I've thought about her yesterday! I've seen a TV reportage about "Ubuntu' an African word that means "I am because you are"… have you heard about it? In this link you can find a beautiful video with people trying to explain this meaning.
Aphrodite Macbain: Ubuntu is a wonderful concept
Eden Haiku: Oh, that looks quite interesting Bleu, thanks for the link :)
    Eliza Madrigal: OOoh, listens...
Aphrodite Macbain: Nelson Mandela talks about it
    Xirana Oximoxi: http://www.odemagazine.com/exchange/...ecause_you_are
Eden Haiku: Ubuntu is wonderful yes. I have seen a great movie about it with Juliette Binoche. So moving .
Eden Haiku: Forgiveness, the african way. Wonderful.
    Bleu Oleander: sounds great
Xirana Oximoxi: yes.. I've found it wonderful:)

    --BELL--

Aphrodite Macbain: and the responsibility of a whole community to take care of its members. Everyone is welcome and cared for
Zen Arado thought it was Linux
Eden Haiku: Movie is "In my Country' by John Boorman, 2004.
    Eden Haiku: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxcWCd-reew
Xirana Oximoxi: also that we are nothing without the others
Yakuzza Lethecus: hehe, i have to admit i also only knew it as a linux distro
    Xirana Oximoxi: yes... me too!!
Xirana Oximoxi: but it was a great idea to put this name.. Ubuntu is built thanks of the collaboration of a lot of people (I think)
Aphrodite Macbain: I watched a program on PBS last night about the the Chautauqua events that happen annually during the summer. Seems it follows the same value systemitau
Eden Haiku: What I remember from the movie is that in order to heal deep wounds, the hurt has to be acknowledged by the perpetrator,
Eliza Madrigal: pretty skirt, wb Sun :)
    Sunshine Vayandar: ty ;)
Eden Haiku: Then, it creates space for the wounded to forgive what has been done to him/her.
Aphrodite Macbain: yes- sort of like what South Africa has been going through-reconciliation
Aphrodite Macbain: who said that Zen?
    Eden Haiku: Yes, reconciliation.
Eliza Madrigal: hmm... feels like if one has to wait for perpetrator to see, forgiveness is impossible
    Zen Arado: http://www.tricycle.com/online-retre...hten-your-load
Eden Haiku: I know there is still violence in South Africa and that nothing is perfect but isn't it amazing that apartheid is no longer ruling?
Sunshine Vayandar: it's amazing to experience Eden
Sunshine Vayandar: sorry I lost the screen
Eden Haiku: Were you there during the shift Sun?
Sunshine Vayandar: I came in 97
Sunshine Vayandar: these are all very new times
Sunshine Vayandar: and people don't know I am watching ;))
Eden Haiku: And the end of apartheid was in the years 2000 I think...
Yakuzza Lethecus: i got to go, bye everyone
    Bleu Oleander: bye Yaku
    Sunshine Vayandar: 94
    Eden Haiku: Bye Yaku :)
    Xirana Oximoxi: schuss Yaku:)
    Sunshine Vayandar: byebyee Yaku
Eden Haiku: Already,... So you lived there right after the change?
Sunshine Vayandar: yes 3 years later I landed ;)

    Forgiveness

Eden Haiku: Yes Eliza, it looks like it in Ubuntu; [7:49] Eliza Madrigal: hmm... feels like if one has to wait for perpetrator to see, forgiveness is impossible
    Zen Arado: bye Yaku
Sunshine Vayandar: but South Africa is very big and it's not possible to see "the changes" one way
Eden Haiku: In Catholic church you have to forgive no matter what but maybe that' why it's not working too well :(
Aphrodite Macbain: Perhaps it is impossible, but it might be a good goal to strive for Eliza
Sunshine Vayandar: There has been amazing stories of forgiveness here
Zen Arado: Jesus talked a lot about forgiveness
    Sunshine Vayandar: humbling
Eden Haiku: Oh! Did you witness any Sunshine?
    Sunshine Vayandar: hmm not personally
Zen Arado: 'how many times should I forgive?+
Aphrodite Macbain: truth and reconciliation implies honesty and openness in both sides
Sunshine Vayandar: I have to think about this
Eliza Madrigal: yes its a personal responsibility... then maybe that makes space for perpetrator to see
Aphrodite Macbain: yes- guide thru example
Eliza Madrigal: and if one 'can't' forgive, they can aspire... let themselves off the hook
Eden Haiku: If you have a chance to watch John Boorman's movie, it's really worth it. I still think about it, years later.
    Aphrodite Macbain: which movie Eden?
    Eliza Madrigal notes film
    Sunshine Vayandar: yes which movie
Eden Haiku: I once asked a great aunt who was a contemplative nun: "How does one forgive?"
Eden Haiku: She had been a nun from her teens and she was then in her late 80s.
Aphrodite Macbain: Eden- what is the name of the movie?
Eden Haiku: She looked into my eyes.
Zen Arado: we are the ones who suffer if we don't forgive
    Sunshine Vayandar: yes Zen
    Aphrodite Macbain: yes eden?
Eden Haiku: And said: " One does not forgive. God does ."
    Eliza Madrigal: mmm
Aphrodite Macbain: Hmmm. I'm not sure if I agree with this nun
Eden Haiku: Movie was: "In my Country" by John Boorman, 2004 [here is more about the movie: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_My_Country ]
Eliza Madrigal thinks of the saying "Unforgiveness is like drinking poison and hoping your enemy will die"
    Aphrodite Macbain: Thanks Eden
Sunshine Vayandar: ty will try to see
Eden Haiku: I think she meant it goes through you, on its own time. Like a ray of light.
Eliza Madrigal: yes... I like that
Eden Haiku: Our job is to make way for the light.
    Aphrodite Macbain: a green-eyed monster
    Eden Haiku: Hence meditation.
Eliza Madrigal: it is an allowing, a giving up, making space
Eden Haiku: hence 9 seconds breaks :)
Aphrodite Macbain: letting go of hatreds
Eliza Madrigal: which we can 'always' do

Making space for the light of forgiveness

Eden Haiku: Making space yes, Eliza. I think so.
Aphrodite Macbain: takes up too much energy to hate and not forgive
    Eliza Madrigal: yes, inefficient :)
Eden Haiku: Breathing room for "God" to send light in our dark rooms :)
Aphrodite Macbain: Amazing how long people carry their hurtful memories

    --BELL--

Aphrodite Macbain: My mother retells stories from 50 years ago and there is still anger and resentment My mother still is resentful of things that happened 50 years ago
Aphrodite Macbain: sorry about the repeat
Sunshine Vayandar: sometimes ppl get upset about the smallest things
Bleu Oleander: gtg .... nice to see everyone :)
Sunshine Vayandar: byebyee Bleu take care ;)
Eden Haiku: Nice to see you Bleu, flash of indigo lights!
Aphrodite Macbain: and then hold on to that anger. wonder why we do that?
Bleu Oleander: take care ... bye
Eliza Madrigal nods... we prob all have people we see do this.... and we can see that they are 'trapped in a loop' in a sense... less easy to see our own
    Aphrodite Macbain: why
    Eliza Madrigal: Bye Bleu :)
    Aphrodite Macbain: Bye
    Aphrodite Macbain: Bye! Bleu
Eden Haiku: Bye, have a nice day!
    Zen Arado: bye Bleu

    Sharing

Sunshine Vayandar: my parents divorced when I was about 3
    Zen Arado: oh Sun
Sunshine Vayandar: after my mom passed away - my father was still angry with her
    Eliza Madrigal: Oh :(
Eden Haiku: Did it leave a scar Sunshine?
    Zen Arado: bitterness
    Eliza Madrigal: so it goes....
Aphrodite Macbain: how sad for him and you
Sunshine Vayandar: hmm I wonder why one can't forgive
Eliza Madrigal: my grandfather is the same... still goes over and over 'if, then'...
Sunshine Vayandar: it's a lesson for me hmm
Aphrodite Macbain: It's like it gets stuck somewhere and can't be removed
Eliza Madrigal: yes we can learn from it and step out
Eliza Madrigal: but for some it is like a phantom limb
    Sunshine Vayandar: hmm yes
Aphrodite Macbain: Perhaps we don't know how. Perhaps we need rituals
    Eliza Madrigal: yes
    Eliza Madrigal: perspective...
Eden Haiku: We need to learn Ubuntu ;)
    Aphrodite Macbain: yes Eden
Eliza Madrigal: I think to share a poem but am hesitating
    Sunshine Vayandar: ubuuuuuntuuuu
Aphrodite Macbain: please share it Eliza
Eden Haiku: Yes, please do Eliza.
    Sunshine Vayandar: ;) yay poem
Eliza Madrigal: I may ask for it to be removed later... but...
Eden Haiku: It will be refreshing .
    Aphrodite Macbain: Is it yours?
Eliza Madrigal: not sure if refreshing, but it is what helped me 'forgive'
Eden Haiku: Ok, no problem if you want.
    Eden Haiku: listening
    Aphrodite Macbain listens
Eden Haiku: Would you like to read it on voice Eliza?

Eliza posts into the local chat a razor-sharp short poem, very moving. I edit it out from then log as she asked. We are honored she felt comfortable enough with us to share it in our small group.

    Eliza Madrigal::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

    Eliza Madrigal::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
    Eliza Madrigal::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

    Eliza Madrigal: .

Eliza Madrigal: I wrote that at about 17
    Eden Haiku: oh Eliza ...
    Aphrodite Macbain: oh Eliza
Eliza Madrigal: strange to share it, but releasing as well
Eden Haiku: It wrenches the soul.
Eliza Madrigal: to go back and realize one has the 'tools'
    Sunshine Vayandar: hmm hugs
Eliza Madrigal: to deal with something they couldn't before
Aphrodite Macbain gives Eliza a soft warm hug
    Eliza Madrigal: :) Ty
Eliza Madrigal: "Time heals all wounds"
Eden Haiku: A beautiful poem Eliza, really beautiful. Cathartic.
Aphrodite Macbain: did it help you when you wrote it?
    Eliza Madrigal: absolutely
Eliza Madrigal: it was a release
Aphrodite Macbain: like naming the event
Eliza Madrigal: to realize I could 'tap into' the rest
Eliza Madrigal: without denying or covering anything
Aphrodite Macbain: putting words to things helps diffuse their emotional power
Eden Haiku: The power of writing as a tool to carve the soul too.
Aphrodite Macbain: It engages different parts of the brain.
Aphrodite Macbain: Perhaps that's what bleu meant by integration
Eden Haiku: It creates connections between synapses yes. Sides of the brain too.
    Eliza Madrigal: yes...integration
Zen Arado: poetry relieving the pressure of past hurts?
    Aphrodite Macbain: rational and emotionaal
Aphrodite Macbain: limbic system an cerebral cortex
Eliza Madrigal: yes and also just seeing that this was a 'moment' it was not going on and on and on
    Aphrodite Macbain: and
Eliza Madrigal: which is what we do when we don't face things
    Zen Arado: facing our demons
Eden Haiku: Zen, maybe poetry does create pathways to healing parts of the brain, to the "rest' where all wounds can be healed?
Aphrodite Macbain: yes. Thank you so much for sharing that with us Eliza
Eliza Madrigal: yw... sort of surprising that i did but I trust the junction of the moment, in a sense
Zen Arado: like writing a letter to someone you are angry with
Zen Arado: but not posting it
Eden Haiku: Yes, a precious gem Eliza. Feeling privileged.
    Sunshine Vayandar: ;)
Aphrodite Macbain: yes. I wrote many letters to my mother..
Aphrodite Macbain: to voice my anger that I was afraid to express in person
Eliza Madrigal: ah, so important... because we don't want to hurt others...
    Alfred Kelberry: meep!
Eliza Madrigal: yet need to come clear
Zen Arado: better than rumination that corrodes
    Eden Haiku: Hello Alfred!
    Alfred Kelberry: hi :)
Eliza Madrigal: btw .... if I ask to remove it it will be for […]privacy ... though it is my story and I wonder about these lines Ann Lammot says "What happens to you is yours" but not sure I agree :)

Zen slips out quietly as we greet Alfred (as a human being now)  and Lugh (in a cool t-shirt look that says "Free hugs" but nobody got a chance to ask for one since we got very busy with singing and music…).

    Zen Arado: Hi Alf :)
    Sunshine Vayandar: hi boxy ;)
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Alfred :)
Eden Haiku: We have been talking about forgiveness this morning :)
Aphrodite Macbain giggles at the meeps
Alfred Kelberry: what a lovely group you are :)
    Zen Arado: forgives meeps :)
Aphrodite Macbain: so are you boxy!
    Sunshine Vayandar: lol zen
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
Eliza Madrigal is trying to get used to this new Alfred who sits! very zen!
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
Aphrodite Macbain: still have those roses I see. I hope you put them in water overnight
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Sunshine Vayandar: ;)) yes very strange to call him Alf now
    Aphrodite Macbain: Hi Lugh
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Lugh

    --BELL--

    Alfred Kelberry: um, tulips :)
    Zen Arado: Hi Lugh
    Lugh Fehr: hellow butiful people
Alfred Kelberry: my tag still says boxy :)
Alfred Kelberry: hi, acid man :)
    Zen Arado: slips out bye
Eden Haiku: It is such an honor you shared the poem with us this morning Eliza. Yet, I understand you prefer not posting it. I would like very much to keep our conversation about it though, if you agree. Bye Zen :)
    Alfred Kelberry: ommm, zen :)
    Eliza Madrigal: bye Zen :)
Eliza Madrigal: yes...the conversation is fine..
    Eden Haiku: hello lugh :)
    Lugh Fehr: bybye zen

    Lucinda Lavender: makes me happy
    Lugh Fehr: :) it should
Lugh Fehr: i have a question for you as a singer what turns a voice into a good one from a bad one or is it genetical in a sense from the shape of the voice chords or something?
Lucinda Lavender: So I guess a fellow from Seattle can go and travel and learn the music of other parts of his country...
    Lucinda Lavender: ah...
Lugh Fehr: i got the moves right but my voice is atrotios heheh :P
Lugh Fehr: is he on the road ?
Lucinda Lavender: well this is a good question...I have studied voice some and there are parts of the register that will come through more easily I think...experiment with how low and high you can go....practice by lying on the ground and vocalizing up higher than you thought you could go...your voice is a muscle...
Lucinda Lavender: do stretching to open the front of the chest..like in yoga
Lugh Fehr: ahh im a half backed pro yogi heheh
Lucinda Lavender: son is settling in the Appalachian mts...
Lugh Fehr: hmm weird name never heard of the place which part is it in?
Lucinda Lavender: for high notes you can raise the dome at the back of the throat
Lucinda Lavender: what does half backed mean?
Lugh Fehr: hehe like a half baked cake
    Lucinda Lavender: ah!
Lugh Fehr: not actually done yet but its a cake
    Lugh Fehr: hehhe
    Lucinda Lavender: get it!!

Lucinda Lavender: yes:) to yoga...has kept my back in better shape
Lucinda Lavender: vinyasa I think it is called
Lucinda Lavender: am going to a new studio for it...and that is what they call it
Lucinda Lavender: what kind for you?
Lucinda Lavender: it has helped my singing immensely
Lugh Fehr: i do all kinds basicly i especially focus on the yoga of the mind but i love body yoga too
    Lucinda Lavender: ah
Lucinda Lavender: yoga of the mind...meditation?
Lugh Fehr: yes but in a yogic way at least thats what i call it i think its best defined as yoga
Lugh Fehr: but i dont really care for bondaries in what meditations i do
Lugh Fehr: i do buddhist practices taoistr alchemical what ever i could get my hands on and thats part of the reason hwy i call it yoga
Lucinda Lavender: ah yes...my teacher was a Korean Buddhist monk I think and now he has started a yoga studio...Yoon's Yoga Bliss...I have only visited twice but am inspired
Lucinda Lavender: he has a nice website
Lucinda Lavender: we did a lovely meditation yesterday where we settled into our bodies and said I am fine:)
Lucinda Lavender: very simple and sweet...
Lugh Fehr: :) nice ...ah looks like a sweet guy very buddhisty

    --BELL--

Lugh Fehr: after all buddhism is a refined in its unique way yoga and they all evolved from shamanism i think for me yoga is the art of manipulating the mind and body in the way you want it to be and in the process you find the famous union hehe
    Lugh Fehr: cool web
Lucinda Lavender: I found that the energy moving in the body was quite knowable from what he would say to us about it...
Lucinda Lavender: this is new to me...hearing words that describe energy..
Lugh Fehr: ahh in yoga you feel a certain high dont you
Lucinda Lavender: well in the moment I mean...warmth was the impression I had warmth moving through the body
Lucinda Lavender: caused a lovely settling for the mind at the end
Lugh Fehr: both yoga and drugs have a very simile experience
Lugh Fehr: yes my mind settles down a lot after body yoga
Lucinda Lavender: a certain releasing comes with the stretching I guess
Lugh Fehr: the yoga also balances your hormones its even scientifically proven and all
    Lucinda Lavender: makes sense...
Lugh Fehr: so after without the chemicals to support the feeling of anger and over lust or under lust the mind feels calm
Lucinda Lavender: a part of healing from the intensity…yoga could be
Lucinda Lavender: moving energy around in the body
    Lugh Fehr: yes :)
Lugh Fehr: ever heard some yogi masters speak on you tube?
Lucinda Lavender: no that would be interesting...
Lugh Fehr: they are a lot of bullshitters but the genuine ones are terrific let me find you a good one

Lugh Fehr: it is said that it was started by guru ji an immortal in the himalayas he even has an ashram there and shows up every once in a while ... i dont really buy into all that hyp but i do love a good story
    Lucinda Lavender: :)
    Lugh Fehr: :)
Lucinda Lavender: well I sense that we are visited by feeling from outside the present moment sometimes
Lucinda Lavender: and for me it becomes apparent in dreams
Lucinda Lavender: images that will be possibilities etc
Lucinda Lavender: from outside present perceptions
Lugh Fehr: well life is a strange thing far fetched i like to call it :) hehe and being reality theres a sort of pun in there
