This being a Sunday I sat with Bertram and the usual suspects at Perfect Paradise. The slight chill in the apartment and the ticking of the clock reminded me of the first RL retreat that I attended, in Malta in 2010. Inspired by that I tried the physical-body equivalent of visualization: tried to remember and re-feel the presence of the other meditators, to hear their breathing. It worked well for a while, but then the monkeys woke up.

Hugs to you all. Feeling surrounded by everyone's presence on this (externally) cold dreary weathered day, but internally warm and 'cared for' and 'caring'. Aware, with this inner warmth of the fluttering awakening (often called Quickening when the expectant mother feels the flutter of her baby beginning to move at about 16 weeks gestation) of deeper, quieter, enlivened feeling which softens the edges of sometimes hardened so-called thought.
Quiet thanks to you each and all for being a part of this 'gestation' with me. Perhaps we each are being that for the other here.
Fun day with soccer match and african jazz tunes on SL ....
Metta - was planning to do it with Liz but was not able to get to it sigh.
Time with the African sky : I did spend some time with the moon - beautiful sight.
South Africa, a moment of ponder, thanks and musings : while my little Rodriguez fest carries on - today was a day for Bafana Bafana, our national soccer team - they drew against Morocco which means they are through to the next round of the Afcon. This is always great news - SA is a very sporty nation and any success of this kind is a great inspiration for everyone.
did two ten minute meditations, which is cheating a bit, did a guided one similar to my own breathing meditation and also sat with Storm's metta meditation, though had domestic disasters of typical style to draw me away at the end
(Switching over to Chrome browser. Interested to see if works better here than a year ago. Seems so, so far..)
Body: STILL 275 lbs! :) Plateau. But no problem. <smiles>
Mind: Checking a set of online tutorials to see how they compare to existing learning techniques, both in effectiveness and cost. Not sure yet.
Spirit: Starting new transcriptions. These are "meta-transcriptions" that won't go in a book but will just help me with future transcriptions. Also half-way through rereading Richard Bach's "One" - a very quick read that's unspectacular but probably worthwhile... maybe.
Late meditation and Chi Gong, cat arrived once again and sat in front to the left of me about 1/2 way through.... Meditation and Chi Gong. Completed in about 13 minutes. Spent the rest of the Chi Gong and Tai Chi avoiding stepping on Fubu, who refused to move, no mater how close I came to him. Tai Chi about 13 minutes.
Maxine, I feel deeply for your loss and hope the next 87 or so days (and thereafter) bring a renewed perspective on your surroundings.
