Bleu Oleander: hi
Riddle Sideways: good Morring, Bleu
Riddle Sideways: sorry, I was off looking for something
Bleu Oleander: good morning!
Riddle Sideways: was comuting yesterday and heard (mostly) a really good show on XM radio
Bleu Oleander: what was that?
Riddle Sideways: seems hard to look up archives to share in to the logs here
Riddle Sideways: Tom Ashbrook's On POint (NPR) was interviewing
Riddle Sideways: [here where I lost the name} an aurhor of a new book about the MIT kids
Riddle Sideways: back in the early 60's
Bleu Oleander: I listen to that show
Bleu Oleander: sounds like an interesting one
Riddle Sideways: some Harvard/ MIT kids names Timothy Leary, Richard Apert, and 2 others
Bleu Oleander: heard about that book
Bleu Oleander: a fun read i'm sure!
Riddle Sideways: ah good, then you can tell me about it
Riddle Sideways: some of the point was putting ourselves into that mindset
Riddle Sideways: the 50's were ending
Bleu Oleander: haven't read it yet
Riddle Sideways: I not read it either
Riddle Sideways: but they were exploring Reality
Riddle Sideways: what it means to question ... everything
Yakuzza Lethecus: morning you both
Bleu Oleander: hey Yaku
Riddle Sideways: good morning Yak
Bleu Oleander: questioning is a good thing!
Riddle Sideways: then these Harvard/MIT professors started "Playing" with what they had been just talking about
Bleu Oleander: looking at the On Point schedule i see an intersting one: http://www.onpointradio.org/2009/02/...-the-afterlife
Bleu Oleander: I read this book .... fantastic!
--BELL--
Riddle Sideways: AH ha... thank you (wonder why I could not find that link)
Riddle Sideways: http://www.onpointradio.org/2010/03/...ew-age-america
Riddle Sideways: is the show I was refering to
Riddle Sideways: oops, what happened to Yaku
Bleu Oleander: I'll have to listen later
Bleu Oleander: don't know where he went .... poofed
Riddle Sideways: it got me thinking about.... (well everything)
Riddle Sideways: but what if you lived in a "normal" mind space
Riddle Sideways: and started to just think differently
Riddle Sideways: and started 'Playing' with the alternatives
Riddle Sideways: mixing Psychology, Arts, Science, Religion
Bleu Oleander: wb Yaku
Yakuzza Lethecus: sorry, connection issues :(
Bleu Oleander: what is a "normal" mind space?
Yakuzza Lethecus: hey pema,tim
Riddle Sideways: [7:12] Riddle Sideways: good morning Yak
Riddle Sideways: Good morning, Pema
Riddle Sideways: please have a seat
Pema Pera: Hi Riddle, Bleu, Yaku, Tim!
Riddle Sideways: Hi Tim
Bleu Oleander: hi Pema, Tim
Pema Pera: (as soon as rezzing has rezzed :)
Tim Darkthorn: Hello
Tim Darkthorn: what are you guys up to?
Riddle Sideways: Hi Tim, we are a group for "Playing As Being"
Tim Darkthorn: I'm not sure what that means
Riddle Sideways: click on the ball over on the white post
Bleu Oleander: where are you from Tim?
Riddle Sideways: sorry, am having issues with my inventory or I would give you the postcard
Tim Darkthorn: i got one...
Bleu Oleander: (I gave him a notecard)
Tim Darkthorn: Thank you anyways... maybe when i am a little less "noob" i will come back and further explore your group
Riddle Sideways: thnx
Yakuzza Lethecus: In simple form for me this is a place to talk about own contemplative tradtions and find other ppl to talk about their own, no matter which background you have or if it´s even a religious tradition
Yakuzza Lethecus: but often it´s also a nice general chat
Bleu Oleander: sure, that would be great
Tim Darkthorn: Thanks all... Have a Greatday!!! =)
Bleu Oleander: you too!
Riddle Sideways: ok, Tim
Riddle Sideways: yes, image entering a new and wonderful altered reality for the first time
Riddle Sideways: so much to explore
Riddle Sideways: not the time to sit and discuss
Pema Pera: hi, trying again -- unstable internet connection :)
Riddle Sideways: WB
Bleu Oleander: hi again Pema
Bleu Oleander: it seems unstable today for me as well
Riddle Sideways: and the single pixel Yak
Riddle Sideways: well, my internet seems the only thing that is stable today
Bleu Oleander: so Riddle, can you expand on what you said earlier?
Riddle Sideways: we were (no I was...) about http://www.onpointradio.org/2010/03/...ew-age-america
Bleu Oleander: [7:18] Riddle Sideways: it got me thinking about.... (well everything) [7:18] Riddle Sideways: but what if you lived in a "normal" mind space [7:19] Riddle Sideways: and started to just think differently [7:19] Riddle Sideways: and started 'Playing' with the alternatives [7:19] Riddle Sideways: mixing Psychology, Arts, Science, Religion
Riddle Sideways: ah, yes that thread
Riddle Sideways: image some highly educated experts in their fields getting together
--BELL--
Riddle Sideways: and thinking in a different way
Riddle Sideways: I'm 13 or 14 and the Beatles sing the last song on Revolver about these Harvard/MIT folks and I am blown away
Riddle Sideways: is 4-5 years before I take any drugs at all. Yet my thinking has already gone that way
Riddle Sideways: "Sit back and let your mind flow down stream..."
Bleu Oleander: we had a salon the other night and the speaker said a similar thing about thinking in a new way
Bleu Oleander: http://shesc.asu.edu/vanderleeuw
Bleu Oleander: he is duch Pema .... have you met him?
Bleu Oleander: dutch
Pema Pera: no, I don't know him -- sounds interesting!
Bleu Oleander: very interesting! I think you would enjoy meeting him
Pema Pera: he teaches in Arizona?
Bleu Oleander: yes, dir. of the school of human evo. and social change
Pema Pera: I like the term "Phoenix Innovation Study" -- nice pun !
Riddle Sideways: wow, his bio goes on and on. Maybe he can't keep a job :)
Pema Pera: (just reading the web site)
Pema Pera: hehehe, Riddle
Bleu Oleander: his talk centered on building community
Bleu Oleander: focused on individuals
Bleu Oleander: building small networks
Bleu Oleander: like PaB
Pema Pera: well, he teaches "social change" after all !
Bleu Oleander: :)
Riddle Sideways: [just sent link to my son, who is studying the same thing]
Pema Pera: Yes, we do need new ways of thinking -- perhaps especially new ways of seeing
Pema Pera: watching ourselves and the world and others in new ways
Pema Pera: without the usual separations and classifications
Pema Pera: stepping back to see what is really going on
Bleu Oleander: yes
Pema Pera: we usually take for granted what we already seem to understand, and then add a bit more knowledge, on top of our full plate . . . .
Pema Pera: but to subtract, emptying our plate, is a whole different move
Riddle Sideways: we try to learn from history, but keep thinking the same ol way, so we repeat what we said we would not
Riddle Sideways: to just park the same ol thinking and go on down the road
Riddle Sideways: Justapose ourselves into some altered reality until that is the reality we ...
Riddle Sideways: make up a new avatar
Riddle Sideways: log onto a new virtual world
Riddle Sideways: know that flying is normal
--BELL--
Riddle Sideways: try a new way of thinking
Riddle Sideways: think that it is pretty good
Riddle Sideways: try it in what might be labeled "RL"
Riddle Sideways: some times doing al this new way of thinking doesn't leave
Riddle Sideways: room of the same ol way of doing things
Yakuzza Lethecus: hmm, i listen to lectures all the time even when i am not particular interested in the topic and i often have the feeling that i learn things easier when i don´t have expectation and anticipation to learn something
Riddle Sideways: yes
Pema Pera: yes, it's certainly good to have an open mind
Yakuzza Lethecus: but still, somehow it won´t really work out intentionally i often feel that when i ,,want" something i just don´t have a definition and my ,,want" already includes it´s ,,out of reach status" as kind of an excuse to not ,,just doing it"
Yakuzza Lethecus: meta thinking thinking is weired to talk about :)
Riddle Sideways: between the practicing of the required musical pieces. You'll hear somebody else strike a new and moving note
Pema Pera: yes, Yaku, we tend to limit ourselves -- either stick with what we already know, or consider the new knowledge somehow hard to get, elsewhere, off limits
Riddle Sideways: Hi Calvino
Pema Pera: Hi Calvino!
Yakuzza Lethecus: hey cal
Bleu Oleander: hi Cal
Pema Pera: Well, I'll have to say goodbye -- am in the train between New York and Princeton, and about to arrive :)

Riddle Sideways: ah... maybe
Calvino Rabeni: The universe is made of riddles, so it is good to have them around
Yakuzza Lethecus: yes :)
