arabella Ella: went to a coffee shop and ordered coffee
arabella Ella: and the waiter told him 'ole'
arabella Ella: then brought him white coffee

arabella Ella: and suddenly coming to a motorway where you have to pay a toll

arabella Ella: and spending a weekend in spain with the banks all closed only with Portugese money and US dollars

arabella Ella: I was in Belfast once for a conference and all i saw was the town hall, queens and a tour of the town

arabella Ella: and on another occasion i drove across from the south but did not get as far as belfast

arabella Ella: ah ... they did not take us to the Giants Causeway for some strange reason but have heard of it of course

arabella Ella: but Liza ... what do you think makes human beings create so many 'us' and 'them' mentalities all over the world?

Liza Deischer: I think religion is abused for other reasons

Zen Arado: but many protestants hate Catholicism and the Pope

Qt Core: i think it may have a genetic base, about the need of protecting the tribe/group
arabella Ella: but so often it is merely fictitious and only serves as a way to artificially divide groups
Qt Core: now we don't have one and search for something that may create such groups
Liza Deischer: prtestants in Holland don't hate the pope and live together with catholics
Liza Deischer: they don't mix well, but that is something different then hate
Zen Arado: so why does it exist in Ireland?

Zen Arado: the main friction in Ireland is because the English to away 6 counties from the Irish
Zen Arado: and many want a United Ireland again
Liza Deischer: I believe the colour has got something to do wiht a county in France that our kingshouse ever owned

Zen Arado: that's what the IRA tried to do

Liza Deischer: there has been so much bloodshed, that will take a lot of time to heal

arabella Ella: yes I will never forget how impressed i was with the Bobby Sands hunger strike as a child

arabella Ella: what i find scarey is the recent trend towards nostalgia for fascism
Zen Arado: I worked in a power station that was bombed
Liza Deischer: solving a problem like this is easier to do on a political level then in the hearts of people

arabella Ella: i was amazed with the security that exists in N Ireland when i had visited
Zen Arado: otherwise the country would shut down with no power

arabella Ella: there are many different ways of perceiving evil and many ways to explain how it may come about

Zen Arado: it sems to have an unchangeable quality
Zen Arado: you say someone is eveil - they have no possibility of rehabilitation
arabella Ella: what i would ask is ... are people born in such a way that they continually do 'bad deeds or acts' ... or do they learn to become bad?
Yakuzza Lethecus: so we haven´t had a clear definitinon for evil in the discussion either, up to the issue of freud and the ,,death wish of man"

Wol Euler: I tend to think that calling something evil means "it upsets me too much to think about it"
Wol Euler: it's certainly true for me :)

Wol Euler: if I am able to focus on something clearly, without recoiling in fear or horror, then that thing somehow is never described as "evil" in my mind
