The Guardian for this meeting was Bleu Oleander. The comments are by Bleu Oleander.

    Bleu Oleander: hi Yaku
    Yakuzza Lethecus: morning
Bleu Oleander: your coffee looks good!
Yakuzza Lethecus: hehe, yes i detached the beer
Bleu Oleander: i'm going to get some rl coffee
Bleu Oleander: see, the power of suggestion!
Yakuzza Lethecus: it just arrived with me at the pc

after a quiet 20 minutes or so Yaku and I discussed some of the ways we approached learning and exposure to new ideas.  It's very cool how people in SL and particularly people in PaB have introduced me to new and exciting ideas.  live music, and great books to name a few.

Bleu Oleander: do you ever listen to live music in sl?
Yakuzza Lethecus: not until last saturday
Yakuzza Lethecus: and i guess you know who took me :)
Bleu Oleander: Paradise is giving me LM for music
    Yakuzza Lethecus: exactly :)
Bleu Oleander: so i went a few times
Bleu Oleander: some of the musicians are very talented
Yakuzza Lethecus: yes, it was really interesting when i visited a place
Bleu Oleander: i especially like it when the musicians talk between pieces
Bleu Oleander: makes it less like recorded CD's
    Bleu Oleander: wb :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: i am interested in so many things right now
    Bleu Oleander: in sl?

    --BELL--

Yakuzza Lethecus: and i don´t want to make more passive consumption habitual
Bleu Oleander: know what you mean
Bleu Oleander: what are your interests now?
Yakuzza Lethecus: oh, still the reading issue and how i understand things better
Yakuzza Lethecus: very plain to say so
Yakuzza Lethecus: but it´s about finding inspiring ppl and trying to figure out what´s a good or bad trait
Yakuzza Lethecus: so i am not very focused on something specific, it´s that i try to enhance the ability to get deeper into individual thoughts i have during each day
Yakuzza Lethecus: so in ur case it might be my art issue, that i avoided arts for ages and i also don´t know if it just ,,isn´t my thing"
Bleu Oleander: how do the enhance that ability?
Yakuzza Lethecus: for example in pab, the dropping issue
Yakuzza Lethecus: i think about , i suck in art"
Yakuzza Lethecus: i don´t think , oh art whats that"
Yakuzza Lethecus: i have some negative experiences from the past and even to say ,, i have no clue about it is kinda habitual"
Yakuzza Lethecus: so it´s about watching thoughts, actually
Bleu Oleander: so you have a preconceived notion of how you relate to "art"
Yakuzza Lethecus: another good example are all those elderly ppl 5 years ago
    Yakuzza Lethecus: with computers
Yakuzza Lethecus: no we´ll never learn that, that´s something for the next generation
Yakuzza Lethecus: but those ppl are dying now but i remember everyone talking in that way in my parents generation
    Bleu Oleander: yes
Yakuzza Lethecus: i mean they are able to use computers and internet now with dying
Yakuzza Lethecus: or i really sucked in english back in school, when i open old schoolbooks old negtive emotions come back
Yakuzza Lethecus: but the funny thing is that everybody is telling me that i am speaking english now nearly accent free
Yakuzza Lethecus: but i had not a school approach i, just used the language"
Yakuzza Lethecus: i just didn´t fall over the old triggers
Yakuzza Lethecus: still the triggers are their in my view
Yakuzza Lethecus: it´s complicated i have the feeling i often just step over myself, trying to make something go away" might be a bad way for me to change things
Yakuzza Lethecus: the problem is to think that there is an issue maybe much more
Yakuzza Lethecus: it´s tricky and not really elaborated, even listening to lectures i have no direct interest into is an experiment
Yakuzza Lethecus: i have the feeling as if i have no problem learning, but learning explicitly
Bleu Oleander: it's very interesting your relationship to your triggers and to learning

    --BELL--

Bleu Oleander: because I expose myself to so many subjects and people I find myself getting more open to exploring new and different ideas ... like PaB for example.
Yakuzza Lethecus: yes, that thought really forces me to explore again
Yakuzza Lethecus: and especially it´s forcing to elaborate on psych and phil :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: so it´s interesting to hear about some books from you and to elaborate a bit on them
Yakuzza Lethecus: and then somebody else mentions the same book
Yakuzza Lethecus: like, "the ego tunnel"
Bleu Oleander: we are meeting an interesting person on our NYC trip coming up in May
Yakuzza Lethecus: yes, you told me :)
    Bleu Oleander: Rudolfo R. Llinas
Yakuzza Lethecus: can´t remember the name of the neuroscientist tho :)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: ah
    Yakuzza Lethecus: lol
Bleu Oleander: who wrote "I of the Vortex"
Bleu Oleander: he's head of the Physiology and Neuroscience at NYU
Yakuzza Lethecus: now i know why i couldn´t find his book when i googled it
Yakuzza Lethecus: i googled eye of the vortex
Bleu Oleander: his theory is the the "mindness state" evolved to allow predictive interactions between beings and their environment
Bleu Oleander: he thinks that the "self" is the centralization of prediction about movement in the world
Bleu Oleander: his theory says that we live in a kind of virtual reality
Bleu Oleander: we are also meeting with an fMRI specialist at Columbia
Yakuzza Lethecus: hmm, actually that doesn´t sound new, that we are just constructing our reality in our mind
Bleu Oleander: on what tech can show us about the brain, and free will issues
Bleu Oleander: no not that new
Bleu Oleander: but will be interesting to talk with him
    Yakuzza Lethecus: absolutly!
Bleu Oleander: so we'll have some very intersting conversations I'm sure!

Bleu Oleander: so I'm off to play with my building ... trying to learn how to link ojects today
Bleu Oleander: what are you up to?
Yakuzza Lethecus: a bit reading, at least a few pages

    --BELL--

    Bleu Oleander: bye for now
