The Guardian for this meeting was Eliza Madrigal. The comments are by Eliza Madrigal, who was joined by Susi, Bleu, Yakuzza, Storm, Cosmicflower, and Pema. We started off peacefully discussing Bleu's idea for a project : _Art of Being_ , but by the time we finished, there were festivals, wiki pages, karaoke, and "chocolate disco" going. :)

    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Susi :)
    Susi Alcott: Hi Eliza
Eliza Madrigal: Nice to see you today. Is everything well?
    Susi Alcott: _/!\_
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Susi Alcott: all well witiing you ?
Eliza Madrigal: Very much so, Thanks!
Susi Alcott: that's nice to hear
Eliza Madrigal: yes I guess there are the same things going on as any other day, but when one has a sense of peace underlying, then can't help but smile
    Susi Alcott: _/!\_
Susi Alcott: well..sure few things are same too; going to sleep sometime and waking up also ...
Eliza Madrigal: And how is the healing work you do with people going? I've been curious about that
Eliza Madrigal: haha, yes sure (to sleeping and waking) :)
    Susi Alcott: Hi Bleu
    Bleu Oleander: hey! :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Bleu :)
Bleu Oleander: how was your trip Eliza?
Eliza Madrigal just wandered the village a little... noticed a few more changes to your spot :)
    Bleu Oleander: always changing :)
Eliza Madrigal: It was great, thanks. Quite productive
Eliza Madrigal: I'm guessing that the things we worked on will be discussed more in the guardian session...
Bleu Oleander: great, would love to hear about it
Eliza Madrigal: so have hesitated to give my own outline. Still, I feel inspired :)
    Bleu Oleander: that's wonderful
Eliza Madrigal: It has been six months since the working group formed... with the idea of 6 month transitions generally... so... figuring things out :)
Bleu Oleander: very good, thanks for all you do!
Eliza Madrigal: Oh, thanks for saying that. Labors of love
    Bleu Oleander: very worthwhile project!
Eliza Madrigal: yes, I surely feel that way

I ask about the _Art of Being_  project that I'd been reading bits about here and there...

Eliza Madrigal: Care to tell me more about Art of Being? I've been able to only to skim logs so far...
    Bleu Oleander: k sure
Bleu Oleander: I was going to bring it up at the guardian mtg if you think it is of interest
Eliza Madrigal: it IS. Much buzzing :)

    Bleu Oleander:

Illuminating the themes of Play as Being, I propose to create an ongoing arts project, "Art of Being" for the village area, that PaB members can participate in and work together. It could potentially make the village area a more dynamic place of being with everyone working together and learning to build. We can use the expertise of more skilled members to teach us and work with us. The goal of the project would be to reinforce the PaB themes creatively and visually. We could eventually incorporate music, poetry, photography, and performance arts. Each work of art could have a notecard for visitors that would explain PaB and the specific theme the work was depicting.

Initially, I propose to start with limitations on number of prims, size, colors, not using textures. My idea is using the “prim” as a metaphor for being; using colors for the many colors of being; using transparency for revealing being; dropping textures as a metaphor for PaB dropping

    Eliza Madrigal smiles
Eliza Madrigal: how interesting... and I like that you've narrowed down what we'd begin working with initially....
Eliza Madrigal: makes it accessible to everyone
    --BELL--
Eliza Madrigal: Art is very healing, Susi. Wouldn't you agree? And hm, healing an art as well. :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Storm!
    Bleu Oleander: hey! Storm :)
Eliza Madrigal: ( 90 seconds is a long time when one wants to say Hello)
Storm Nordwind: Good morning all :)
    Storm Nordwind chuckles
Eliza Madrigal: Bleu was describing her "Art as Being" idea. I'll give you a note
Susi Alcott: as well to creat art is healing
    Storm Nordwind: Thank you Eliza
Eliza Madrigal: Things are taking a bit longer this morning. I upgraded the viewer yesterday :)
Bleu Oleander: (haven't done that yet)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Storm Nordwind: Are you finding it an upgrade?
Eliza Madrigal: Hm, in some ways I do. The general scope is improved I think, though a sense of avs is perhaps diminished... and well...still searching for the right buttons :)
Eliza Madrigal: a smoother feel, that's one thing

I missed the following question from Storm during the session. I still have both buttons, so I sure hope so!

Storm Nordwind: Can one choose to switch between the old and new?
Eliza Madrigal: So, basically "Not Sure" :)))
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Cosmicflower. Nice to see you again
    Bleu Oleander: hey! Cosmicflower
Cosmicflower Ushimawa: Hi. ;) Nice to see You too ;)
    Cosmicflower Ushimawa: and All
    Cosmicflower Ushimawa: <3
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
Storm Nordwind: Bleu, is your idea to use the common areas we have between plots?
    Susi Alcott: _/!\_ Cos
    Cosmicflower Ushimawa: <3
Bleu Oleander: that could be one way yes
Bleu Oleander: groups of 4 could work on a piece for their common areas
Eliza Madrigal: And displaying what we're working on, on our plots too, I'd guess? Say if someone just wanted to work on their own but be a part?
Bleu Oleander: or maybe groups could work on a piece for a central area .... revolving and changing
    Bleu Oleander: sure
Bleu Oleander: it could be org any number of ways
Bleu Oleander: one key idea is working together
Eliza Madrigal: it seems another way of communicating with one another... visual gestures
Bleu Oleander: making village more dynamic
    Eliza Madrigal: :) yes
Bleu Oleander: also illuminating PaB ideas
Storm Nordwind: When do we start? ;)
    Bleu Oleander: ha!
Eliza Madrigal: I like the idea. I've enjoyed wandering the village lately and finding new things... movement, circulation
Bleu Oleander: yes, several peeps have expressed a desire for more activity

The project seems a way to celebrate PlayasBeing's 2nd Birthday, too!

Eliza Madrigal: yes, I wonder... hm... maybe start in April... PaB 2nd year beginning!
    Bleu Oleander: oh good thought
Storm Nordwind: Or prepare at least something for April 1st itself?
Eliza Madrigal: hmmm, yes.... art to commemorate
Bleu Oleander: maybe even having a piece displayed at Kira
Storm Nordwind: Have you already something in mind Bleu. I know some people's imaginations are freed by examples
    Eliza Madrigal nods and listens
Bleu Oleander: I do actually have several ideas for pieces
Bleu Oleander: could put one together if you like
    Storm Nordwind: Yes please! :)
Eliza Madrigal: yes a great idea
Bleu Oleander: shall I start with the parameters I suggested?
Bleu Oleander: of limiting prims, colors etc
Storm Nordwind: What limitations would you like to suggest?
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Ya :)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: good morning everyone
Bleu Oleander: give me an idea of how many prims we should limit each one
Storm Nordwind smiles a welcome at Yaku
Eliza Madrigal: We're talking about the Art as Being project a bit more... getting something started :)
    Bleu Oleander: hi Yaku
    Cosmicflower Ushimawa: good morning Yakuzza
Storm Nordwind: The limit for each common area was originally set at 120 prims I think
    Susi Alcott: good mornin Yaku
Bleu Oleander: so what if we started with 50 prims?
    --BELL--
Bleu Oleander: that would allow for seating in the area also
Storm Nordwind: Yes. And any signage. Or even two exhibits per area
    Bleu Oleander: right
    Eliza Madrigal: hmm, nods
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hi pema
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Pema :)
    Bleu Oleander: hi Pema
    Pema Pera: Hi everybody!

Pema arrives and we talk details and recording...

Storm Nordwind: Bleu could you post a message to the guradian email list outlining it all?
    Eliza Madrigal: hehhehe
    Bleu Oleander: sure
    Susi Alcott: Hi Pema
Eliza Madrigal erases last line since Storm asked.... hehehe
    Cosmicflower Ushimawa: Hello Pema
Storm Nordwind: Good morning Pema :)
Bleu Oleander: essentially outlining what we just talked about?
Eliza Madrigal: Yes, maybe once you've worked on the 'example' Bleu, to send an email. That would be just great :))
    Eliza Madrigal: yes
    Storm Nordwind: Yes please Bleu
    Bleu Oleander: k sure
Eliza Madrigal: Pema, let me give you a note about what we've been discussing : Art of Being
Storm Nordwind: Sounds like a candidate for a new Wiki section too
    Eliza Madrigal: Ah, true
    Bleu Oleander: yes, with photos
    Storm Nordwind nods
Storm Nordwind: No one has yet built anything in the "village square" area that was wanted at a guardian meeting a few weeks ago. I hope the exhibits will gain more traction
Pema Pera: great idea, Bleu, Art of Being!
Eliza Madrigal: yes, that might be a nice place to move things once they've been worked on... at least temporarily as a way to share/gather.... festival of sorts
Bleu Oleander: I think it will be fun, working together to illuminate PaB themes with new mediums
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Pema Pera: and the idea of exhibits reminds me of Kira's 12th birthday party, with the booths we had
Storm Nordwind: Ah yes... Kira nostalgia
Pema Pera: it's nice to be able to walk around and mingle with both people and projects
    Bleu Oleander: yes
Bleu Oleander: visitors to the village could get a notecard about PaB and the artwork
Pema Pera: it's a wonderful idea, and yes, a new page on the wiki would be good too
Eliza Madrigal: So we've narrowed parameters... What about 'theme'? What 'being' evokes from each artist?
Pema Pera: with perhaps a subpage for each project

Bleu Oleander: peeps could choose either any PaB theme or all work on one theme
Bleu Oleander: what do you think?

Bleu Oleander: the piece I have in mind uses the theme of dropping layers
Storm Nordwind: Can I just clarify one thing? You're suggesting no textures. But you are suggesting transparancy. Do I take it that means textures that are all or mostly blank but with possibly some transparent 'holes'?
Eliza Madrigal: Hm, well as an ongoing project it seems we could be specific... Ah... yes dropping seems a great place to start!
Bleu Oleander: yes Storm .... using only colors and transparency
Bleu Oleander: and size of course
Storm Nordwind: How do you feel about surface roughnesses and sheen?
Bleu Oleander: also possibilites I think
Bleu Oleander: the simpler the better
Bleu Oleander: stricter parameters encourages more creativity
    Storm Nordwind: indeed
    Pema Pera: what wonderful ideas!
Bleu Oleander: since I am a VERY new builder, my example will be very simple :)
Pema Pera: I'm very much looking forward to seeing the project grow
Eliza Madrigal: Simple is the best place to start
Eliza Madrigal: (and even stay) :))))
Bleu Oleander: the idea is for the more experienced builders to help the others
Bleu Oleander: that way peeps learn and have fun together

Eliza Madrigal: So, PlayasBeing's 2nd birthday art festival.... of course it doesn't need to be April 1st... but the project can perhaps begin april 1st :)?
    Eliza Madrigal: "officially"

Pema shares an Art of Being haiku...

    --BELL--
Pema Pera: well, since Eden isn't here, let me try instead: The Art of Being: Being together, Playing Being as an Art
Bleu Oleander: could even be that i.e. each month a new work would be voted on by all of us to be placed at Kira .... with a notcard about PaB and the project .... an on going revolving art project ... not static
    Pema Pera: (oops)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)))) Pema
Storm Nordwind: It all sounds good to me. What do you think about the anniversary timing Pema?
    Pema Pera: perfect!
Pema Pera: as a starting date perhaps?
    Storm Nordwind: yes
Pema Pera: did you already start something, Bleu?
Bleu Oleander: we could also set up times when the artists could talk about their work in the village
Bleu Oleander: I just have some ideas
    Storm Nordwind: Theme sessions! :)
    Pema Pera: :-)
    Pema Pera: sure!
Bleu Oleander: so I could put one together if you like as an example
Storm Nordwind: I think that would inspire many people Bleu :)
Eliza Madrigal: definitely :)) Thank you
    Bleu Oleander: k sure
Bleu Oleander: i'll work on it this week

Eliza Madrigal: How interesting... I love that feel of village life.... creative gestures... winks and waves
Bleu Oleander: so do you think it should be org in teams based on the village layout?
Storm Nordwind: hmm.. actually no Bleu. I think that would leave 'holes' where people either have less confidence or perhaps they are not present so often.
Bleu Oleander: i.e. myself, Liza and Steve all working on a piece for our center area?
Pema Pera: I'm very much looking forward to seeing your first piece, Bleu, and I'm sure it will inspire and stimulate others!
Eliza Madrigal: yes, that would be my feeling... that the arrangement of the village isn't necessarily the best way to group

Storm Nordwind: If you have the enthusiasm, yes. But I think we can take over, at least temporarily, usused areas
Pema Pera: sure, having everybody join in seems most organic and natural
Bleu Oleander: so maybe put an experienced builder with a couple of others?
    Eliza Madrigal nods
Eliza Madrigal: yes and they can arrange among themselves how/when to play together
    Bleu Oleander: yes
Bleu Oleander: 2 or 3 to a team?
Bleu Oleander: based on time zones?
Storm Nordwind will have to work at 'dropping' the excitement! ;-))
Eliza Madrigal: Sure... and no reason why someone who wanted to work on their own might not...
    Eliza Madrigal: ?
    Bleu Oleander: sure
Eliza Madrigal: of course more fun to be together but just thinking of those who have long stretches
Pema Pera: I can see SophiaSharon putting in a 24-hour sculpting session already :-)
Eliza Madrigal: hehehe, yes who I was thinking of ;-)
Bleu Oleander: i sense that there is a lot of talent in the PaB group
    Eliza Madrigal nods
Bleu Oleander: eventually other art forms could be introduced, like music, poetry, performance
Eliza Madrigal: nice to set stages for those expressions to emerge
Pema Pera: oh, we already have the onigokko!
    Bleu Oleander: ha!
Eliza Madrigal: that's our performance art? heheh
    Storm Nordwind chuckles
Pema Pera: so yes, there does seem to be room for improvement :)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Pema Pera: always good to start with the bar low
    Bleu Oleander: hehe
Eliza Madrigal: Bleu would like to improve the onigokko song... this much I know...
