    An impromptu poetry reading

    Bleu Oleander: hey Eden
    Eden Haiku: Good morning Bleu.
    Eden Haiku: How are you?
    Bleu Oleander: great, you?
    Eden Haiku: Fine, thanks.
Eden Haiku: Any topic on your mind?
    Bleu Oleander: not yet
    Eden Haiku: ;)
    Bleu Oleander: you?
    Eden Haiku: same here ;)
Eden Haiku: The health care bill passed. It is wonderful.
Bleu Oleander: yes, can't believe it took so long and so much argument!
Bleu Oleander: hey, I see you are a poet
Bleu Oleander: what do you write about?
Eden Haiku: My last poetry book is about urban fakirs in a northern city and troubadours from ancient times crossing into this reality.
Eden Haiku: I write in French usually but I started writing SL poetry in English :)
Bleu Oleander: can I read your poetry in sl?
Eden Haiku: And my SL poetry is more about lag, sky-boxes and so on...
Eden Haiku: I can send you a note card of my last one if you like. Or even read it in voice if you like.
Bleu Oleander: we had a salon in rl at an artist's studio yesterday and she read from Lisel Mueller's books
Bleu Oleander: oh yes, read it in voice would be great
Eden Haiku: Lisel Mueller, I will google her :)
Bleu Oleander: 1997 Pulitzer Prize Winner
Bleu Oleander: she read from "Alive Together"
Eden Haiku: I realize I don't have my headset on. The sound won't be that good...but it works too I think.
Eden Haiku: Yes, I'm not too familiar with American poets unfortunately...
Bleu Oleander: where do you live Eden?
    Eden Haiku: In Montreal.
Eden Haiku: You will hear my very French accent...:)
    Bleu Oleander: kk

Zen Arado: Hi Bleu, Eden, Yaku :)
Eden Haiku: I still can't see you Zen...
    Zen Arado: great
Yakuzza Lethecus: because he hides behind you :9
Eden Haiku: He does, feeling whimsical hey Zen?
    Zen Arado: slow rezzing today
    Eden Haiku: Nice shirt!
Zen Arado: just an old one :)
Zen Arado: can't see any cushions yet
Zen Arado: did you tell Bleu about the project meeting Eden?
Zen Arado: or are you going to read poetry?
Eden Haiku: Bleu was asking about my poetry and I offered to read one short SL poem in voice...
    Zen Arado: ok
    Zen Arado: good
Bleu Oleander: i read the chat log from yesterday
Eden Haiku: No, I did not tell her yet.
Eden Haiku: Ah, good then. We will discuss it.
    Bleu Oleander: after you read?
Eden Haiku: Do you have sound? All of you?
    Bleu Oleander: yes
    Zen Arado: yes
    Zen Arado: yes
    Bleu Oleander: can't hear you
Bleu Oleander: I may need to log out and in again
    Yakuzza Lethecus: yes :)
Eden Haiku: Ok so we are waiting fro Bleu to relog...
    Zen Arado: yes
    Yakuzza Lethecus: wb :)

(Once everybody has sound settings done, I read in voice a very short SL poem. I post it here to give an idea. Just imagine the French accent (lots of trouble with the "h", I wonder why I still bother using words with an h…) And the '"h" too...

    Zen Arado: very good :)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: i think the use of voice got more depth often
Bleu Oleander: that was great Eden .... thank you for reading in voice!!
    Bleu Oleander: yes
Eden Haiku: So let us go back to the written chat after this little episode in voice. I love hearing your voices, but…
Yakuzza Lethecus: yes, it was nice :)
Bleu Oleander: more layers with voice
Zen Arado: yes and French accent is great :)
Bleu Oleander: perhaps you can read for our group sometime Eden
Eden Haiku: Multi-layers in voice yes.
Eden Haiku: Yes, with some of my SL poet friends, Some are really wonderful!

    Bleu's project takes form

Eden Haiku: But let us go back to discussing this project of yours Bleu, about creating a work of art as a group.
    Bleu Oleander: ok, great
Bleu Oleander: I had an idea to bring peeps together creating art with PaB themes
Zen Arado: what kind of art Bleu?
Zen Arado: we were talking about sculpties yesterday
Bleu Oleander: my thought was to create limitations, number of prims, colors, sizes etc and challenge peeps to come up with a work of art
Zen Arado: though I don't know how to do them
Eden Haiku: Yaku looks like a cloud...
Bleu Oleander: I personally don't know anything about sculpties
Bleu Oleander: but that's the idea that we would learn from each other
Eden Haiku: Bleu, I think your mike might still be opened.
Bleu Oleander: whether it's one piece in each courtyard area or many pieces in the main piazza
    Bleu Oleander: thanks :)
Zen Arado: we were thinking about collaboration possibilities
Eden Haiku: @Bleu Little lock, right side, bottom of screen…
Zen Arado: wonder if anyone inpab knows about sculpting
Bleu Oleander: I would think someone would know
Zen Arado: I went to a lecture on sculpting once and was lost after 10 mins
Zen Arado: she went too fast
Eden Haiku: It is so funny. When I first arrived in SL, it was in my profile that I wanted to create something I had in my mind which I called 'la rose des temps' and I was asking people to help me create it in Second Life...
Bleu Oleander: I think we could start out simple .... more challenging that way
    Zen Arado: yes
Zen Arado: paintings or photos are easier
Bleu Oleander: my original ideas was just prims and color, no textures
Eden Haiku: One day, I was describing my idea to Storm and he said, wait, I might have something like that. And he gave it to me... I played a bit with it, changing the colors but I soon reached my limitations.
    Zen Arado: using building blocks?
Bleu Oleander: but it's all open for discussion .... the planning is fun too
    Bleu Oleander: yes
Eden Haiku: We could start with a cube!
Bleu Oleander: so maybe 3 or 4 peeps could work together,
Zen Arado: can we rez things around here?

With what seemed like perfect synchronicity, I  had rezzed the object Storm had kindly given me a few months ago. (It was a challenge remembering it was listed under "phenomena source" in my inventory…) It now floated above us, huge pinkish reddish 3D star.

    Bleu Oleander: fun!
    Bleu Oleander: i think so
    Zen Arado: oh I see
    Eden Haiku: It seems so!
Yakuzza Lethecus: there was a suggestion that there will be a sandbox on the square in front of the villagehall
Eden Haiku: This is the object Storm gave me. Two stars of David intertwined.
    Bleu Oleander: oh great idea
    --BELL--
Eden Haiku: I like the sandbox idea.
Zen Arado: it's basically two pyramids
Zen Arado: if you added a few more...
Zen Arado: or a different shape and intertwined lots of them
    Eden Haiku: Yes...
Bleu Oleander: so creating works like this .... prims, color, scripts, transparency
Eden Haiku: Is Yakuzza still with us?
Bleu Oleander: then coming up with PaB theme and a notecard
    Yakuzza Lethecus: yes, i am
Zen Arado: I can do some building but not scripts
Bleu Oleander: simple scripts like this .... spinning
Eden Haiku: Scripts are the most difficult.
Zen Arado: someone liks Storm could add for us
Zen Arado: or we can learn ourselves
Eden Haiku: Maybe Storm could take us at the Ivory Tower on a field trip.
Bleu Oleander: not necessary to use scripts
Bleu Oleander: we could start without using them
Bleu Oleander: just prims and color
    Zen Arado: yes
Eden Haiku: yes, start simple as you said.
Bleu Oleander: the simpler the better .... challenges more
    Bleu Oleander: learn more
    Bleu Oleander: everyone can participate

Bleu suggests a great name for the project and we plan to bring the subject up at the next guardians meeting

Eden Haiku: Did you like the tentative title I suggested for the project: the Eagle project?
    Bleu Oleander: interesting
Bleu Oleander: from the eagle spotting discussion?
    Eden Haiku: yes
Zen Arado: it all led somewhere Bleu :)
Bleu Oleander: would like a tie-in to PaB
    Bleu Oleander: so good
Eden Haiku: Or maybe a simple title, more descriptive?
    Eden Haiku: a tie-in?
    Bleu Oleander: using PaB themes
Eden Haiku: Yes, I like that.
    Bleu Oleander: "art of being"
    Eden Haiku: Any suggestion Bleu?
    Eden Haiku: Art of being!!!
    Eden Haiku: yes yes yes!
Eden Haiku: I vote for 'art of being'
    Zen Arado: good title
Bleu Oleander: shall we mention all this at the next guardian mtg?
Eden Haiku: Yakuzza votes for it too (I think...):)
Bleu Oleander: and let others vote too?
    Zen Arado: sure why not?
Eden Haiku: Yes, we shall Bleu. And yes, have a more general vote too.
Bleu Oleander: I like the title because it has a double meaning
Zen Arado: yes art and being
Bleu Oleander: and a play on words
Bleu Oleander: (Eden, you might have to create a poem for this !!) (I will! and also about the simple cube)
Bleu Oleander: on the "art of being"
Eden Haiku: Art of being and art of being. Yes, a poem. Can you explain the play on words a bit more?
Yakuzza Lethecus: I exclude myself since i don't plan to create, so far and the title belongs to the creators :)
Bleu Oleander: art as in creating art work
Eden Haiku: In French, 'l'art de vivre'. I had a chronicle in a newspaper by that title for a while...
Yakuzza Lethecus: hehe, french sounds better tho :)
Zen Arado: art of being and art in being?
    Bleu Oleander: yes
Eden Haiku: But we want you to create with us Yaku! Even a simple cube...
Bleu Oleander: french does sound nice
Yakuzza Lethecus: yes, like gaya´s workshop mis en cine :) (Ah! I get it now, a few hours later. A pun on "mise en scene" or maybe "mise en Sim"?)
Bleu Oleander: actually we should list it in all languages
    Bleu Oleander: to be inclusive
    Eden Haiku: In Na'vi too!
Bleu Oleander: in the overall statement .... yes Na'vi too
    Zen Arado: what is Na'vi?
Yakuzza Lethecus: yes somebody needs to figure out what ,"being" means in na'vi :)
Eden Haiku: I like 'art of being".. It is clear and simple.
    Bleu Oleander: yes me too
Yakuzza Lethecus: the natives in avatar are the na vi
Zen Arado: oh haven't seen it
Eden Haiku: These blue beings walking around like Bertram you know Zen.. They have their own language.
Yakuzza Lethecus: eden, you could change real quick :)
    Zen Arado: wondered about that....
Zen Arado: Eden was a Na'vi yesterday
Eden Haiku: Eywa must be Being in Na'vi.
Bleu Oleander: so let's propose AoB at the next guardian mtg
Eden Haiku: Yes, let us do that Bleu.
    Zen Arado: sure
    Eden Haiku: AoB nice :)
Bleu Oleander: we could eventually include poetry, music, performance also

Zen Arado: an arts festival !
    Eden Haiku: Like Burning PaB!
    Bleu Oleander: ha!
    Bleu Oleander: great
Eden Haiku: Have you guys been to Burning Life?
Yakuzza Lethecus: lol, the burning man :)
Zen Arado: must be some musicians around pab too
Bleu Oleander: no, but know lots who have
    Zen Arado: no?
Eden Haiku: Yes, never been to the RL one but in SL it was fantastic.
Yakuzza Lethecus: yes, only paradise has a lot of musician contacts :P
Bleu Oleander: oh yes, burning life, not burning man
Eden Haiku: Now Burning AoB or Burning PaB!
Yakuzza Lethecus: nah, i just had in mind there there was a festival in the states called burning man or something
    Eden Haiku: Yes we can!!!
Yakuzza Lethecus: i can't recall what it even is exactly
    Zen Arado: :)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: si se puede
Bleu Oleander: so great .... a good start on our "art of being" !!
Eden Haiku: Yes they are connected Yaku.
    Zen Arado: nous pouvons?
Bleu Oleander: I need to go, thanks for your ideas
Bleu Oleander: and thank you Eden for a great reading!
    Zen Arado: thank you Bleu

Zen Arado: I better go do some painting
Zen Arado: it is 3pm here
Zen Arado: have to put another layer on an abstract I am working on
    Eden Haiku: Oh, in acrylics?
    Zen Arado: yes
Zen Arado: haven't worked out how to get paintings from ipod
Zen Arado: it is easier fro iphone
Eden Haiku: That is ok. I'm doing so many things at the same time...:)
Eden Haiku: Don't worry about that.
Zen Arado: the iphone shows up as a removable drive but the ipod doesn't
Eden Haiku: But you must have a cup of tea at my teahouse sometime.
    Zen Arado: sure
Zen Arado: and hear some of your poems.
Eden Haiku: I have to go now. Have fun with your painting. Oh by the way, can you give me the link to your gallery?
    Zen Arado: ok
Zen Arado: it is on my profile under classifieds
    Eden Haiku: I will visit.
    Eden Haiku: Ah good then!
Eden Haiku: Was nice seeing you this morning! Bye for now Zen.
Zen Arado: you can't go there directly ..you have to follow red arrow
    Zen Arado: you too
    Zen Arado: bye
    Eden Haiku: Ah yes, ok...
    Zen Arado: bye Eden
Eden Haiku: Have a nice evening!
