There were 11 guardians present for this session: Agatha Macbeth : arabella Ella : Bleu Oleander : Calvino Rabeni : Eliza Madrigal : Eos
Amaterasu : Lia Rikugun : Maxine Walden : Riddle Sideways : Storm
Nordwind : Yakuzza Lethecus
Agatha Macbeth: And Lia tooSophiaSharon's idea about consolidation the work done by the scribes: the pub as a complement to the wiki
Maxine Walden: hi, Lia
Eos Amaterasu: Hi Lia (with tail :-), & Bleu
Agatha Macbeth: Hello Bleu
Bleu Oleander: hi everyone :)
Lia Rikugun: hello hello :)
Maxine Walden: hi, Bleu
Eos Amaterasu: SophiaSharon had a suggestion she wnated brought up, via Storm
Eos Amaterasu: (she can't make it here today)
Lia Rikugun: (will post the log of this session later)
Maxine Walden: great, Lia
Maxine Walden: yes, Eos?
Maxine Walden: or Storm?
does the village need anything else? a lot of ideas
Storm Nordwind is still just reading the correspondence and IMs about Sharon's idea
Storm Nordwind: The idea seems to be an interesting way of consolidating the work done by our scribes
Maxine Walden: is there an easy way to summarize her idea?
Storm Nordwind: Let me try...
arabella Ella: Hiya
Agatha Macbeth: Hi Ara :)
Storm Nordwind: "The idea was to set up something in the Five Bells Pub about the monthly scribes...To have an object somewhere in the pub that gives notecards.... I volunteer for this project... the notecards would include the monthly scribes, maybe some PaB info, poems or other documents offered by guardians, in a menu that the resident could pick from to obtain the document."
Maxine Walden: hi, Ara
Storm Nordwind: (Sharon's words)
Storm Nordwind: I think this as a complement to the entries on the wiki, not a substitute
Maxine Walden: sounds interesting
Storm Nordwind: I'd like to discuss it further with her. So often not able to convey everything without interaction :)
Maxine Walden: hi, Riddle
Maxine Walden: good idea, Storm
arabella Ella: Hiya Riddle
Riddle Sideways quietly says good morning
Agatha Macbeth: Hello Riddle
Storm Nordwind: But there's no reason why not. And I'm definitely in favor of extended (and extensive!) use of the pub :)
Eos Amaterasu: The context was how to make the Scribes' work more visible and useful
Eos Amaterasu: I for one under-utilize the scribing as a way to catch up on what's been going on in sessions
Riddle Sideways: ummmm, is this the dressed in black section
Eos Amaterasu: without haveing to read each session
arabella Ella: :)
Bleu Oleander: :)
Agatha Macbeth: Not for you :)
Storm Nordwind: I think the fun component would be a useful addition. I'm not convinced that the visibility of the pub vs. the wiki is really the case, but as a complement it sounds wonderful!
Eos Amaterasu: Beyond, that, more up front on the wiki would also be good
Storm Nordwind agrees
its raining... ;)
arabella Ella: If I may make a suggestion also linked to something Storm recently asked at PaB
arabella Ella: his question was whether the village needs anything else ...
arabella Ella: and this could be combiled to present situation if i get gist right
arabella Ella: i think it would be great to have a village square
Calvino Rabeni: There could be ways to raise the visibility from the SL - things to entice visitors - don't know what
arabella Ella: with some fun items and what Sharon / Storm just suggested culd be in the village square if it were to be set up
arabella Ella: People tend to meet and chat in RL in open air village squares
Agatha Macbeth nods
arabella Ella: as a central focal point for everyone
arabella Ella: and the number of fun items placed in the village square is ... well up to everyone's imagination
Storm Nordwind: Where shall we put the square? In place of the central monument (for example)?
Eos Amaterasu: this neighborhood is starting to be village squary, what with this hall plus pub a few feet away
Eos Amaterasu: ie, these are our public spaces so far
Maxine Walden: was thinking the same thing, Eos
arabella Ella: there are numberous possibilities for where it could be placed
arabella Ella: my preference is ... with no offence to anyone as all places are lovely ... for open air venues
Storm Nordwind: It could also be in the space directly east of the pub
Calvino Rabeni: An architect's ideas would be welcome
Storm Nordwind: There are two free plots there by the steps to the pub
arabella Ella: we dont have weather problems here on SL
Eos Amaterasu is thinking, north is to my right shoulder....
Agatha Macbeth: :)
Storm Nordwind: I can make weather problems if you like ara! ;)
arabella Ella: close to the pub would be great as it may imcrease acess to pub too
arabella Ella giggles ... need some rain here
Eos Amaterasu: in vino veritas
Yakuzza Lethecus: lol
Riddle Sideways: we had snow
Storm Nordwind: Then directly east of the pub, so that the pub faces out onto it, might be very good
arabella Ella: if it is close to the pub it could be a sort of outdoor drinking and chatting area relevant to pub too
Riddle Sideways: a village square always had a pub and the town hall
Maxine Walden: Truth in Wine, that could be the name of the square
Bleu Oleander: maybe we could ask some sl artists to do a piece for the square .... a revolving art exit of sorts
Storm Nordwind: In fact the Village Hall will be diagonally off the square too
arabella Ella imagines benches, umbrellas ... perhaps some playground sruff like swings or hammocks
Calvino Rabeni: Villages squares need kiosk, bookstore, public info type things
Calvino Rabeni: Hammock and hangouts
Maxine Walden: already a busy place...with relaxing spots
arabella Ella: we could move some plots if necessary Storm to make it fit it between here and pub
Agatha Macbeth: Sounds like the Village in 'The Prisoner' :)
Eos Amaterasu: Café for delicacies and chat
Storm Nordwind: It will work with what we have anyway. I don't think we'll need to move much if anything
arabella Ella: and it could be central TP point for visitors to village
arabella Ella: with info kiosks
Eos Amaterasu: True, a spot to invite people for conversation
Calvino Rabeni: Open spaces - like the many squares in a city like Madrid
arabella Ella: exactly
Calvino Rabeni: A few art things, or many :)
Calvino Rabeni: Like the one in the cafe
Calvino Rabeni: and at the entrance to the museum
Storm Nordwind: The other much demanded thing is a streaming radio object for every plot that wants one. At the moment as owner I have to change the streams manually for each request. I will provide a device that will allow guardians to adjust this themselves according to every passing whim :)
Calvino Rabeni: Nice :)
Maxine Walden: an added dimension, Storm
Bleu Oleander: I was thinking that we could ask different sl artists to put up a piece, changing it every month or so?
arabella Ella: the square could have a notecard dispenser with different notes (info welcome scribes etc) plus a tip jar
Riddle Sideways: a lemonade stand or PlayAsBeing advice 5c
Storm Nordwind: That would be awesome Bleu if we could get the interest!
Riddle Sideways: stand
Bleu Oleander: I think I can try
Maxine Walden: :), Riddle
Storm Nordwind: Like the Trafalgar Square plinth :)
arabella Ella: not sure how relevant this is but perhaps part of the square could be a sandboxx to encourage us to build stuff
Storm Nordwind: Sandbox, in my opinion, should be distant from the rest
Eliza Madrigal: (Hi everyone, apologies for being late)
Yakuzza Lethecus: hehe, that would increase the possibility ppl from meet there
arabella Ella: Hiya Eliza
Agatha Macbeth: Hi Liz :)
Eliza Madrigal: :) Thanks.. will quietly catch up
Maxine Walden: (this burgeoning of ideas...)
Storm Nordwind: We had a sandbox once by the sea and no one used it except Adelene
Maxine Walden: hi, Eliza.
arabella Ella: my idea re sandbox Storm is as Yaku said, it could encourage more ppl to meet there and we could exchange building tips ... but it could only be say half of square
arabella Ella: and others could watch if interested
Calvino Rabeni: LIke a children play area off to the side of a park?
arabella Ella: like a sand pit in a kids playground
Calvino Rabeni: Yes
arabella Ella: yes
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: can we have our own playground ,,daddy storm" ? :)
Calvino Rabeni: A place with silly/fun animations - click here to FLIP! etc.
arabella Ella smiles
Agatha Macbeth: :)
Eos Amaterasu: Our plots are sandboxes, neh?
Storm Nordwind: It's certainly possible. I can still restrict it to guardian build permission and have an autoreturn (like next to the Cafe) of, say, 2 hours.
arabella Ella: yes
Bleu Oleander: we could have building contests with awards?
arabella Ella: the difference from building on our own plots is that this could encourage communal peer to peer learning
arabella Ella: and of course increased interaction
Storm Nordwind: wonderful :)
arabella Ella thinks silently ... maybe some of the more expert people at building could spend a bit of time teaching others too ... mmmmmm
Bleu Oleander: each 4-plot could compete for the best build ... encouraging everyone to work together on a piece for a say quarterly art show?
arabella Ella: interesting Bleu ... or individually would work too
Eliza Madrigal: how exciting... many ideas bubbling up for a dynamic place!
Riddle Sideways: and the oscar goes to ...
Riddle Sideways: Storm
Eliza Madrigal: :)))
Bleu Oleander: each quarter could have a diff set of parameters?
arabella Ella: yeaaaaaaaaa
Storm Nordwind looks around at people's clothes and wonders whether most artistic creations will be black!
Agatha Macbeth: I see a rainbow and....
Bleu Oleander: we could call it the "Kira" and it could be displayed on the winners plots
Calvino Rabeni: PAB t-shirt vendor?
Storm Nordwind: We've had those before, and for Kira too. No reason why not
arabella Ella: there used to be competitions on SL where avis had to compete to build something and the audience had to guess what it was ... like a toothbrush for example
Storm Nordwind: "can you see what it is yet?"
Bleu Oleander: fun!
Agatha Macbeth: Thanks Rolf ;-)
Bleu Oleander: like pictionary
Storm Nordwind: Rolf Harris comes to Second Life
Riddle Sideways: not fun for us building chalenged :(
Agatha Macbeth: Where's yer wobble board Storm?
arabella Ella: those of us who are building challenged could take the opportunity to hone our skills Riddle
Storm Nordwind: I could tell you Agatha, but then I'd have to shoot you... oh no, mixed memes ;)
arabella Ella: maybe the village square could have four main areas ... possibly as ...
Agatha Macbeth: Eeeeeeeek!!!!
arabella Ella: one for the sandbox sort of stuff
arabella Ella: one for umbrellas and seating for outside pub drinking and chatting
arabella Ella: one for fun stuff like playground swings etc
arabella Ella: and ... a fourth ... for whatever ideas people may have
Storm Nordwind: Anyone with ideas, please email me sketches :)
arabella Ella: just suggestions of course
Eliza Madrigal likes swings
Agatha Macbeth: :)
Eliza Madrigal: a playful ground taking shape ...
Calvino Rabeni: Sculpture garden, combined with labyrynth
Storm Nordwind: (There's already a fun toy that everyone can use in the middle of the common area next to my plot)
arabella Ella: maybe the fourth area could be a garden with lovely flowering bushes and maybe a small labirinth?
arabella Ella: hey Calvino ... great minds ... he he
Eos Amaterasu: Hypogeum
arabella Ella: or above ground temple
Eos Amaterasu: where we bury avatars
arabella Ella: or some meditation scripts
Storm Nordwind: and other large aquatic animals
Calvino Rabeni: An oracle, of some kind?
arabella Ella: yea
Eos Amaterasu: it's at the pavilion that we consult the oracle of Being
arabella Ella: i think one of the key features should be openness for those of us who may not have good motion control indoors
Calvino Rabeni: I got it - "Pixel-Henge"
Maxine Walden: (can just feel the playful associations pour forth)
Storm Nordwind groans
arabella Ella: he he
Calvino Rabeni: Openness is good for the cam-challenged
arabella Ella: yes
Storm Nordwind: Especially if they're using the new view, apparently
Storm Nordwind: *viewer
arabella Ella: and the square could be useful for celebrations similar to the one we had in the village on New Year's Eve
Calvino Rabeni: Vertical space is also a quality that would feel good to have more of
arabella Ella: maybe the fourth part could be a meditation space with small prayer candles
arabella Ella: or prayer flags which people could set up and write their messages on for 24 hrs
Eliza Madrigal: hmm, yes all really nice ideas....
Eliza Madrigal: i've been moving things around at my spot this week... changing things around and considering the possibilities... many ideas as one walks the village ...
arabella Ella: I'm not good at sketches ... but perhaps some people are good at design
Eliza Madrigal: its another way of conversing with one another :)
Calvino Rabeni: People visit our plots while no one is around - maybe some kind of greeter script would add something of interest
Storm Nordwind knows that very many people run a mile when there are greeter scripts around!
Eliza Madrigal: yes... non intrusive little things though
Maxine Walden: greeter scripts can feel like 'big brother' to a visitor
Calvino Rabeni: could be done
Eliza Madrigal: one thing that I like, is seeing when someone has a book or library.....
Eliza Madrigal: that can give a lot of information if someone likes...
Calvino Rabeni: In one sim, I found a weather script - when you walk to that area, there's a sudden thunderstorm
Eliza Madrigal: or just a picture/pointer
arabella Ella: what do you mean Eliza?
Eliza Madrigal loves that idea too Calvino
Eliza Madrigal: Sometimes I make a little book for a table in my spot...
arabella Ella: what a lovely idea
Eliza Madrigal: Adams, for instance, has a "TSK"
scribe topic..
arabella Ella: oh its raining
arabella Ella: Storm!!!!!!
arabella Ella: bring on the brollies
Maxine Walden: ah, weather is visiting.....a Storm
Eliza Madrigal: and I know in other places you can choose a book from a shelf and have a notecard
Agatha Macbeth: Doh, the roof's leaking!
Eliza Madrigal: heheh
Eliza Madrigal delighted not to miss a rainy meeting :)))))
arabella Ella giggles
Bleu Oleander: faulty construction :)
Calvino Rabeni: I like that idea - basically anything to personalize things - SL tends to become somewhat generic otherwise
Maxine Walden: ah and here comes the thunder
Agatha Macbeth: It's just like being in England
arabella Ella: rushes to put on sound
Maxine Walden: can feel the wet and for me the cold...
arabella Ella: havent heard thunder in months ... could we have it again Storm please?
Bleu Oleander: am starting to feel soggy
Lia Rikugun: oh i didnt have the sound on :)
Eliza Madrigal: hehe Bleu
Calvino Rabeni: And it is interesting - like life - to have occasional surprises happen
Lia Rikugun: i get this every day in real life , too much rain :(
Agatha Macbeth: My hair ;(
Storm Nordwind waves
arabella Ella: its lovely to have rain with no hair problems :)
Storm Nordwind: Hmm...
Eliza Madrigal: indeed :) frizz be gone
Yakuzza Lethecus enjoy´s the cold, sunny, snowy weather right infront of his real life window :)
arabella Ella: do you still have snow Yaku?
Yakuzza Lethecus: it came back on friday night :)
arabella Ella: oh noooooo
Yakuzza Lethecus: it´s fine, roads are free
arabella Ella: ah
arabella Ella: this is so cool thanks Storm!
Storm Nordwind smiles
Agatha Macbeth: Yeah, thanks for the storm, Storm :)
arabella Ella: he he
Storm Nordwind: More rain than I've seen in RL since October
Calvino Rabeni: Say, guardians, do you invite guests occasionally?
Eliza Madrigal: ...Before the session ends, btw, Thanks everyone who contributed to the Scribe Theme Session yesterday... I'll be sending an email later so that everyone will read and bring ideas/suggestions to the next one :)
Agatha Macbeth nods
Eliza Madrigal: I do Cal, sure... once in a while as comes up
arabella Ella: apologies for having missed the session yesterday Eliza but had RL commitments!
arabella Ella: yes Calvino occasionally
Eliza Madrigal: Of course, Ara, no worries. It had a nice energy and we'll be holding more of them :)
Agatha Macbeth: It got a bit mad ater the first hour Ara
arabella Ella: :)
Eliza Madrigal: heheh... yes... flying and riding around in bubbles
Maxine Walden: wow, the wind...
Eliza Madrigal: whoooooosh
arabella Ella: sounds like good crazy fun :)
Bleu Oleander: feels like holding on to my hairdo
Eliza Madrigal: indeed :) The scribes *should* be a fun project after all...
Agatha Macbeth: It was!
Eliza Madrigal: and the creative energy is great for that :)
arabella Ella: may I ask current scribes here ... how much time do you reckon doing a scribe task takes up on average?
Maxine Walden: ( so interesting how the imagination 'creates' or 'completes' the picture here, re the storm, wind, rain: I really feel the wet, soggy, need to button up or put a jacket on)
Calvino Rabeni: Well, more than I expected - maybe about 4 hours
Eliza Madrigal: The first two scribes took a little while.... but now it takes me about an hr a month unless I get carried away or pull together more than one, Ara :)
arabella Ella: and the others?
Calvino Rabeni: Or longer, if it has some creativity involved
arabella Ella: ah
Eos Amaterasu: yeah, can't imagine doing it in less than 3, more like 5
Eliza Madrigal: yes... it depends on what one puts into it...
Storm Nordwind remembers a year ago that it regularly took him 5 hours
Calvino Rabeni: It takes a couple hours just to read the sessions
Maxine Walden: me as well, when I scribed, 4-5 hours
Calvino Rabeni: RIght, that's my experience too
arabella Ella: ok interesting ... was always curious about time
Eos Amaterasu: Unless it's all "just me and the pavilion"
Eliza Madrigal: I can think of some that took that long, and others which seemed very simple, where I felt that one idea jumped out prominently
Eliza Madrigal: I think this is what we need to be talking about.... how to make it creative, well-done, thoughtful AND enjoyable too
Maxine Walden: have to go, hour's end ....and towel off! Nice discussion.
Calvino Rabeni: Are there "trends"? After awhile, it seemed more random than progressive.
Agatha Macbeth: I'm singin' in the rain
Maxine Walden: bye all
Eliza Madrigal: Thanks Maxine, everyone.
Agatha Macbeth: Bye Max
Bleu Oleander: bye Maxine
Eliza Madrigal: I apologize but have to be off to another meeting
arabella Ella: bye Maxine Eliza
Calvino Rabeni: Bye all from Calvino too
Bleu Oleander: bye Eliza
Agatha Macbeth: BFN Eliza :)
Eos Amaterasu: ditto offo
Eliza Madrigal: I will plan another scribe session soon... would love to
Eos Amaterasu: ciao all
Eliza Madrigal: hear from everyone!
Eliza Madrigal: Bye for now
Agatha Macbeth: Bye all
Storm Nordwind waves
Lia Rikugun: i will leave too :)
arabella Ella: must go too bye all
Riddle Sideways: bye all
Lia Rikugun: byebye
Yakuzza Lethecus: bye everyone
Lia Rikugun: see you soon
Bleu Oleander: bye all
