So many translations of the Heart Sutra... today loved a line from a translation I've not read before, which included a special word, Rest.
"Because for bodhisattvas there is no attainment, they rest, trusting the perfection of wisdom."
Other readings timely at once and overlapped... nothingness, choicelessness... again rest.
Nice Eliza. Each day facing the koan of life - the Genjokoan, without using our clever minds to try to get somewhere. Facing it freshly as it comes up in each moment. How can we achieve what is already here? Achieving creates a gap that we then have to close? Something out there we think we have to reach.
Yes, thank you, Eliza and Zen!
Zen, as to "why do I doubt so much" -- it might be interesting to ask yourself: "what kind of answer would satisfy you", how would a "why" question turn into nourishment for the soul? Perhaps Rest is so nourishing because it drops the why questions . . . . and yet, and yet, there are times that questioning is appropriate too, we can't boil down the myriad practice approaches to a few sentences here in these few pages. :-) edited 00:30, 26 Jan 2012

Panicked at the dentist today. Then later, waiting for a cab in the cold after talking with a rude dispatcher, felt helpless. Caught a glimpse of an etheric 7 years old girl in a pink snowsuit in the middle of the street. Now at home, sharing about my bad day with my companion who had a worse one. We made a great vegan dinner, drank some wine and laughed it out. Back to feeling joyful. #timestamp edited 10:42, 26 Jan 2012
