Prostrations in the morning. My mind thought that pema's idea to write a manual was quite interesting, so that was something to drop regularly. It dawned on me that gratefulness is a form of surrender, so "be grateful to everyone" is a form of, or a precursor to, "surrender to all".
My morning practice continued to revolve around "zero practice" and I tried to drop even the effort of trying to drop. Let it be, in a simple way, that old phrase took on yet again a new meaning.
Gratefulness as a form of surrender... a truly wonderful twist. Today Korel brought up the word 'grace' for a brief moment, during an otherwise silly session, and there is something about the word that just stops everything ... turns the world itself in every aspect, inside out. Zero practice ... no distance, no way in the way.
Lately there is this phrase that pops up out of nowhere, in between lots of other things, like a koan... "why not." edited 22:55, 17 Feb 2012
Did a more extended formal sitting this evening. Formal in the sense of holding a posture, back straight and unsupported. Formal in the best sense of empty formality - there is only what is, nothing extra. It does make a difference. It is itself a bow, bowing, being bowed. Worth doing often :-)
Next week I will be away, on vacation.
