Please to be forewarned: I have had a crappy day.  This chat was the highlight of an otherwise...
Also, I have had at least a glass of wine and might type anything I feel like.

Archmage Atlantis: And it looks like this is going to be a quiet session also, so far.
Archmage Atlantis: There was no guardian at the last session either, just me

Let it be know!! I was up early.  Showered, dressed, made coffee, talked with son (Yeaaaaa!) and actually had a great topic for today/ [will save for another time]
Then my computer was (almost) dead.
Then my internet connection was dead.

Riddle Sideways: unknown reason... weather is fine
Riddle Sideways: also almost lost this computer too
    Hung, reboot, chkdisk.
    Goto another computer, it does not have SL.  Try to download. Find no internet.  Goto to Modem, power off/on = no connection outside house.  Son yells, "Hey dad, no internet".
    In a useless motion, send an email that says "Hey group I can not get in!".  It bounces.

Archmage Atlantis: I was wondering if there is a conference going on, as I was the only one at the last meeting.......and there is hardly anyone here......I was just about to leave

I know that does not sound too bad to many of you long hual travelers, but it seems too long to me.

Aphrodite Macbain: how many people in Kenya have access to the internet?
Riddle Sideways: trying to teach useage in several langages he does not speak
Archmage Atlantis: I love that, Riddle.....what a neat thing to be involved in
Aphrodite Macbain: was this a grovernment project?
Archmage Atlantis: Is he with an organization? or on his own?

Archmage Atlantis: I know many things, when I was a child, there were separate coloured and white bathrooms.......or no bathroom for coloured at all
Archmage Atlantis: As a gay man, there was no recognition of those who were like me
Aphrodite Macbain: we have experienced the horrors of Rwanda and the Balkans, and women still wear very high heels!

Bruce Mowbray: You mentioned segregated restrooms ---- I experienced that for the first time when I went to a university in Texas.
Riddle Sideways: during civil rights movement, being white was not safe either
Archmage Atlantis: Now all the country stars have longer hair

Bruce Mowbray: I'd never experienced "actual" segregation -- although growing up in Iowa, there was de facto segregation -- but I was not yet awke enough to notice that.
Archmage Atlantis: I grew up in the deep south

Bruce Mowbray: It is so sad when visitors to America - on holidays - get hurt or killed. . .

Archmage Atlantis: Because, imo, we treat mental problems as moral failures, or as failures to follow a religious path
Aphrodite Macbain thinks that society will always have its intolerant numbskulls and its optimistic dogooders
