The Guardian for this meeting was Eden Haiku. The comments are by Eden Haiku. A billboard handwritten birthday card was waiting for Eliza. We had a fun session, drinking champagne punch and eating slices of cake with much rounds of applause for the happy birthday girl who was stunning in her "grey goddess" short skirt. [I remembered to take a snapshot only when she stepped out, unfortunately :) but had the chance to take her picture later in the day .Birthday girl Eliza.jpg

]Attendees were: Eliza, Bertram, Yakuzza, Agatha, Zen, Bruce and Aphrodite.

Eliza Madrigal: Oooh, what was that! A winter wonderland [It was snowing !]
    Bruce Mowbray: snowglobe!
    Eliza Madrigal: The playasbeing snowglobe!
Agatha Macbeth: Oh it's lovely Eden[I thought Agatha was making it snow, who was it then ? Some deus ex machina (I mean Storm...)]
    Aphrodite Macbain: :-)
Aphrodite Macbain: Eden you give lovely gifts
Agatha Macbeth: Yes, I wore Moon's garden by mistake
Eden Haiku: Love the snowglobe effect!
Aphrodite Macbain: Hahah a bit prickly?
Agatha Macbeth: Trouble is, you can't see anything when it's up...
    Eliza Madrigal: lost

Agatha mentioning that Darren got lost in Moon's garden the day before, it starts a thread playing around  Ariadne and the labyrinth of greek mythology

Agatha Macbeth: Darren got lost in it yesterday
Eliza Madrigal: Fun to get lost sometimes :)
Aphrodite Macbain: I hate getting lost
Agatha Macbeth: Oh I don't like it - it makes me panic
Eliza Madrigal: that's part of the fun
Aphrodite Macbain: Me too. Deepest fear
Eden Haiku: Getting lot in a secret garden and then finding yourself in the outhouse with a wide screen...
    Eliza Madrigal: :))
Aphrodite Macbain: a secret garden is different
Agatha Macbeth: I don't find it funny tho :(
Agatha Macbeth: Panic is not a nice thing
Aphrodite Macbain: somehow a sg is always safe
Agatha Macbeth: Especially when you can't breathe properly
Eden Haiku: Got lost in Knossos's labyrinth in Crete :))
    Eliza Madrigal: ooooo
Aphrodite Macbain: but forests - that's another thing
Eden Haiku: oooo real panic attacks Aga?
    Agatha Macbeth nods
    Eliza Madrigal: yes, no fun
Aphrodite Macbain: wow. that's amazing. was it a very large labyrinth?
Zen Arado: we are lost in our thoughts :)
Eden Haiku: No fun at all ;( No more jokes about getting lost :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Ha
Eliza Madrigal: Well what of lost as metaphor...
Eliza Madrigal: for learning to enjoy the unpredictability of life
Agatha Macbeth: That's not so bad
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Eliza Madrigal: chaos
    Eliza Madrigal: confusion
Aphrodite Macbain: chaos is the worst!
Zen Arado: allowing the uncertainty of being free of thought?
    Eliza Madrigal: :))
Aphrodite Macbain: BTW I love this pink cake beside me. are we going to get any?
Eden Haiku: The labyrinth: not that big but I managed to get lost. Found a 5 yr old little girl who was lost too and I helped her find her Mom, so I did not feel as fearful when I found her :)
Eden Haiku: Sure., Just touch it and you get a slice Aph :)
Aphrodite Macbain: you overcome your fear by taking care of another
    Eliza Madrigal: Very nice Eden!
Zen Arado: you forgot your own fear then Eden
Eliza Madrigal thinks that she would be very comforted coming across Eden in the labrynth...[How sweet of you to say Eliza :)]
Eliza Madrigal: Maybe that's happened :)
    Zen Arado: shared lostness
Eden Haiku: And then you wear the cake slice. What a strange world we live in!
Eliza Madrigal: indeed... if one 'knows' they are lost then are they really?
Agatha Macbeth: As long as you don't meet the Minotaur you're ok
Zen Arado: lost sinners maybe :)
Eliza Madrigal: is the cake dancing? [Lost opportunity for onigokko  and the likes here, sighs...]
Aphrodite Macbain: poor old minotaur, stuck there for ever
Eden Haiku: We would lead you out of the labyrinth with a thread Agatha :))
Aphrodite Macbain: I'm getting cake & cream all over my thigh
Agatha Macbeth: I thought that was Ariadne's job?
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
Aphrodite Macbain: someone knows her greek mythoogy
Eden Haiku: oh better not wear the ice cream then...
Eliza Madrigal: mmm, cake and champagne ... breakfast of champions
Aphrodite Macbain: wasn't ariadne a spider?
Agatha Macbeth: Think that was Arachne
    Eden Haiku:No, Arachnea was a spider :)
    Aphrodite Macbain: right!!
    Zen Arado: hence arachnophobia
    Aphrodite Macbain: I have that
    Eden Haiku: Yes Zen!
Agatha Macbeth: Ah, now spiders don't bother me
Eden Haiku: Ariadne is a great mythological character.
    Agatha Macbeth nods
Eliza Madrigal: oh what tangled webs we weave...
Bertram Jacobus: sry - bert's leaving - have still a nice day, especially eliza and the nice year as said before - may all beings be happy plz - ty ! ... *wave* ...
Agatha Macbeth: Also appears in the 39 Steps

Eliza Madrigal: _/!\_ Bert, thank you
    Agatha Macbeth: Bye Bert
    Bruce Mowbray: bye, Bert.
    Bertram Jacobus: ty ! ... :-)
Eden Haiku: She was the architect's daughter I think. That's how she knew her way ...
    Aphrodite Macbain: bye bert
    Eden Haiku: Bye Bert!
Bruce Mowbray: The archetect was Daedelus.
    Bruce Mowbray: father of Icarus.
Eden Haiku: Oh right, thanks Eliza. King Minos's daughter rather...
Eden Haiku: Here in SL we are living Icarus's dream...

    --BELL--

Agatha Macbeth: Stay away from the sun tho...
Aphrodite Macbain: What was his dream.
    Eden Haiku: To fly!
Zen Arado: never heard of Ariadne's thread before
Bruce Mowbray: Do you remember WHY Theseus wanted to slay the minotaur?
Agatha Macbeth: But he went too high
    Eliza Madrigal: thank you Zen
Eden Haiku: The Minotaur was eating up youngsters every year
Agatha Macbeth: Perhaps he was A Minotaurphobe ;-)
Aphrodite Macbain: are we living that dream?
Aphrodite Macbain: It was a test of courage?
Zen Arado: used in chess programs apparently
    Aphrodite Macbain winks at Agatha
Bruce Mowbray: Yes -- there was a ritual that they had to feed so many young men and women to the mirotaur (I thought it was every 7 years - but could easily be wrong on that).
    Agatha Macbeth: What is zen?
    Zen Arado: Ariadne's thread

Magical numbers, a turban and a blessing

Eden Haiku: Yes, 7 years I think that's correct...
Agatha Macbeth tries to think of the Ariadne Opening
Aphrodite Macbain: one of those magic numbers
    Aphrodite Macbain: 7, 3
Agatha Macbeth: Is that a football score Aphro?
Bruce Mowbray: Some think Theseus and Minotaur to be a love story.
Eden Haiku: There was a women's group theater here called "3 &7 le numero magique" (the magic number)
Agatha Macbeth: Don't think I'd have fancied either of em
    Zen Arado: why magic?
Eden Haiku: A kind of superstition I suppose...
    Aphrodite Macbain: why not?
Eden Haiku: 7 days of the week, 7 colors of the rainbow etc...
Eden Haiku: Must be a rythm in numbers.
    Eliza Madrigal nods
Agatha Macbeth: I always think of 9 as pretty magic number, the way its products always add up to it
    Eliza Madrigal: beats of time
Aphrodite Macbain muses-I've never been to Crete
Agatha Macbeth whistles Number 9 Dream
Eden Haiku: 40 must be 4, the Emperor Trump illuminated bu Zeroth Time. A faculty to be on earth, a practical way :))
    Agatha Macbeth: Could be Edie
Aphrodite Macbain: Eden-could you translate that?
    Eden Haiku: 9X2= 18 =9, 9x3=27=9, 9x4=36=9 Wow! Aga, you would make a fantastic math teacher![Kept doing it after the session: 9x5+45=9, 9X6=45=9,9X7=63=9, 9x8=72=9, 9x9+81=9 AMAZING Agatha!!!!]
    Agatha Macbeth smiles
Agatha Macbeth: 'Just one of those things'
    Agatha Macbeth: -f
Aphrodite Macbain: are you a math teacher Agatha?
Eliza Madrigal: fantastic to look at that... the way patterns play
Eden Haiku: I was wearing my turban when saying that Aph :) It's gibberish from Tarot Cards and some Play as Being codes sprinkled on it..
    Agatha Macbeth: God no!
    Eliza Madrigal: heheh Eden
Agatha Macbeth: I think roses suit you better Edie
Aphrodite Macbain: Well that sort of explains it. Thanks :-)
    Eliza Madrigal: :))
Eden Haiku: Taking off her turban :)))
Agatha Macbeth: This must be the magical mystery hour ;-)
Aphrodite Macbain: That turban mut be warm on hot day
Eden Haiku: It's a magical turban. It tells fortunes and reads in tea cups...
Eliza Madrigal: Can you give me a quick birthday fortune Eden? :))
Agatha Macbeth looks in her cup
Eliza Madrigal: (just a sneaky way of asking for a blessing ;-)
Eden Haiku: Putting the turban back over her roses hairdo...
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
Agatha Macbeth: Roses grow on you..
Eden Haiku: I'm seeing a safe journey, good winds and discovering beautiful Floridas like in Rimbaud' poem. Let me find it for you. :)

    --BELL--

Rimbaud and his "incredible Floridas" brings up a PaB poetry project in the bud

Agatha Macbeth: Rimbaud wrote about Florida?
Eliza Madrigal: oooooohhhh what a lovely fortune...
Agatha Macbeth: Wonder if he went to Disneyworld?
Eden Haiku: Floridas in the plural, like some exotic places to discover...
Zen Arado: If You Were Born Today, August 16: Famous people born today: Madonna, Timothy Hutton, Kathie Lee Gifford, James Cameron.
Eliza Madrigal: the drunken boat.... lost and intense but also alive...
    Eliza Madrigal: amazed
Agatha Macbeth: Must read all of that later
Agatha Macbeth: Well, I've heard of Madonna in that list
Eliza Madrigal: Disney is like the opposite... tamed and with pretend adventures... contained
    Agatha Macbeth: Dunno the rest
Eliza Madrigal: James Cameron is a new one to me...
    Agatha Macbeth nods
Eliza Madrigal: maker of Avatar, Ag :)
    Agatha Macbeth: David's brother?
    Bruce Mowbray: AVATAR 0-director.
    Bruce Mowbray: also the TITANIC.
Agatha Macbeth: Ah Jack and Rose
Agatha Macbeth: 'Where's all this water coming from?'
Eden Haiku: "I have struck, do you realize, incredible Floridas/
Eden Haiku: "Where mingle with flowers the eyes of panthers/
    Agatha Macbeth: Tre-mendous
Zen Arado: "If there is one water in Europe I want, it is the Black cold pool where into the scented twilight A child squatting full of sadness, launches A boat as fragile as a butterfly in May."
Eden Haiku: "In human skins! Rainbows stretched like bridles/
Eliza Madrigal: Ooooh, yes and I love these lines: "I should have liked to show to children those dolphins Of the blue wave, those golden, those singing fishes. - Foam of flowers rocked my driftings And at times ineffable winds would lend me wings."
Eden Haiku: "Under the sea horizon, to glaucous herds! "
Agatha Macbeth: Maybe we should have a PaB poetry session?
Eliza Madrigal: we've thrown the verses all together. What fun!
    Eliza Madrigal: Nice idea Agatha
Eliza Madrigal: everyone bringing a PaB poem
Eden Haiku: loves Rimbaud...even better in French :))
Eliza Madrigal: most things seem to be, Eden ;-)
Agatha Macbeth: Well they used to have them at Mystic, maybe still do
Eden Haiku: Sure, that would be cool, a PaB poetry event!
Eliza Madrigal: PaB poetry sessions? :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Yay
    Yakuzza Lethecus: :)
    Zen Arado: poetry theme
Agatha Macbeth: We could run them concurrently with Bleu's art projects
Yakuzza Lethecus: poetry reading ? :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Nice idea actually...
    Eden Haiku: Puzzling poetry!
Agatha Macbeth: (Yaku just woke up [grin])
    Yakuzza Lethecus: lol
    Eliza Madrigal: poetry labrynth
Eden Haiku: Because poetry means ***voice*** Yaku wokes up!
    Eliza Madrigal: :))

Agatha Macbeth: We'd need to do the reading in voice, natch...[Both chat &/or voice maybe Agatitha ?]

Zen Arado: "Si je desire une eau d'Europe, c'est la flache Noire et froide ou vers le crepuscule embaume Un enfant accroupi plein de tristesses, lache Un bateau fragile comme un papillon de mai."

    Eden Haiku: Bye Yaku!

Aphrodite and I share about our work and interests and I discover with delight that she speaks French, as she studied at l'Ecole du Louvre for 3 years in Paris!

Aphrodite Macbain: Eden you do look very fetching
    Eden Haiku: Fetching?
Aphrodite Macbain: What are you going to do today?
Aphrodite Macbain: very English word for attractive
Eden Haiku: Today? Well it's cloudy here so I won't swim. But I will go for a walk, post the log and work on my book.
Aphrodite Macbain: Is there any way I can get a copy of that lei in your hair?
Eden Haiku: Oh, thank you. I dressed up for Eliza's birthday :)
    Aphrodite Macbain: What book?

    --BELL--

Eden Haiku: The wreath, sure, let me see if I can transfer it to you.
    Aphrodite Macbain: Tx!
Eden Haiku: So sorry, the wreath is not tranferable... :( Yes, I'm writing a novel.
Aphrodite Macbain: Wonderful, based on what?
Eden Haiku: It's organized in a way I have never worked before (I published a few already).
Eden Haiku: This time I'm working with narrative fractals.
Eden Haiku: The fragments are still scattered but I have a vision of how it will look like at the end.
    Eden Haiku: Hopefully :))
Aphrodite Macbain: Now I understand - you are a genius! I don't dare ask you about narrative fractals though I know what a fratal looks like
Eden Haiku: I wouldn't dare answering you either. It's also way beyond my genius...:))[Just see above regarding my maths discoveries :)]
Eden Haiku: It just stirs my imagination.
Eden Haiku: Last night I awoke for a litlle while at 4 am...
Eden Haiku: And a memory of many years ago came back to me.
    Aphrodite Macbain: yes?
Eden Haiku: I was spending some time by myself in Oguinquit, in Maine, during the summer. Maybe you know the place?
Aphrodite Macbain: no I know Kennebunk only!
Eden Haiku: One night, I was waiting for a solo dinner table in a restaurant. Old house, stone walls, fireplace. It was in August, about this time.
Eden Haiku: Yes, It's similar to Kenenbunk, by the ocean.
Eden Haiku: Another woman who was also solo was also waiting for a table .
Aphrodite Macbain: yes? then what happened?
Eden Haiku: We started chatting and ended up sharing a table and a wonderful conversation.
Eden Haiku: She talked about the 4th dimension,
Eden Haiku: I was in my early thirthies then and even though I had heard the expression "4th dimension" I had no idea what it was.
Aphrodite Macbain: wow this was all in your dream?
Eden Haiku: No, no, that was in real life. Years ago. I just remembered it last night.
Aphrodite Macbain: I don't know what the 4th dimension is -time?
Eden Haiku: Yes, Time. She said there is height, width gee, how do you call the 3rd one in English ?:)))
Aphrodite Macbain: o and how has that affected you now - that remembering
    Aphrodite Macbain: depth
Eden Haiku: Anyway, she said maybe she met me in a past life.
Eden Haiku:Maybe she was selling amethysts in Ancient Egypt.
Eden Haiku: And maybe I was the scribe who noted the transaction.
Aphrodite Macbain: ok - why amethysts in Egypt?
Aphrodite Macbain: you were an Egyptian accountant?

    --BELL--

Eden Haiku: No idea why amethysts...That's what she said :) It was one of the most compelling conversation I had with a stranger. We laughed a lot with these "maybe"....
Aphrodite Macbain: Sounds fascinating. Has this influenced your thoughts about your book?
Eden Haiku: I think the scribes were writing down averything that needed to be remembered.
Aphrodite Macbain: sort of like PaB!
Eden Haiku: Yes, [the story of the encounter] might become one of the narrative fractals.
Aphrodite Macbain: Can you define a narative fractal in one sentence?
Eden Haiku: It could have been you this woman I met in a restaurant in Maine years ago. You studied in McGiIll didn't you?
    Eden Haiku: Scratching her head....
    Aphrodite Macbain: Yes but ...
Eden Haiku: A fragment of story that resonates with the whole.
    Aphrodite Macbain: why fractal?
Eden Haiku: Because it has a structure that will be replicated all over, in different sizes.
Aphrodite Macbain: Ohh. I'm starting to understand. Eden, please remind me where you live in RL
Eden Haiku: I live in Montreal and you are near Vancouver right?
Eden Haiku: But you studied here :)
Aphrodite Macbain: Yes! Now I remember. Yes I studied at McGill in the mid 60s
Aphrodite Macbain: I lived first on the West island-Pointe Claire
Eden Haiku: Ah, I know Pointe Claire. On the lake, beautiful place!
Aphrodite Macbain: Then I went to Paris 4 three years and studied at the Ecole du Louvre!
Aphrodite Macbain: Studies near eastern art an archaeology. Even studied hieroglyphics
Eden Haiku: Oh! are you an artist Aphrodite?
Eden Haiku: Studied hieroglyphics, that's fantastic!
Aphrodite Macbain: Not really but I'm interested in art. I became a curator for 25 years
Eden Haiku: I bet you were one of my fellow scribes in Heliopolis or somehwere...
Aphrodite Macbain: It was interesting studying hieroglyphics in French
    Aphrodite Macbain: and cuneiform.
Aphrodite Macbain: Not too useful these days!
    Aphrodite Macbain: Maybe in heliopolis
Eden Haiku: Very fractal way of studying: mysteries embedded in mysteries.
[ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guimet_Museum]
Aphrodite Macbain: si si! Tu les connais?
Eden Haiku: Ah oui, je les adore!
Aphrodite Macbain: :-) ah a kindred spirit!
    Eden Haiku: smiles
Aphrodite Macbain: Eden, Il faut que je m'en aille travailler. But I'll see you soon
Eden Haiku: See you soon Aphrodite. Hope you won't be too tipsy from the champagne punch!
Aphrodite Macbain: Nice to get to know you better
    Eden Haiku: Same here :)))
Aphrodite Macbain: I wont drive - I'll just fly
    Eden Haiku: let's fly out!!!
    Aphrodite Macbain: happylunedi
    Eden Haiku: Lundi, oui :)))
