The Guardian for this meeting was stevenaia Michinaga. The comments are by stevenaia Michinaga.

    stevenaia Michinaga: hello Bruce
Bruce Mowbray: Hey, steve. How's it going?
stevenaia Michinaga: I seem to be lagging a bit tonight
    Bruce Mowbray: It happens . . .
Bruce Mowbray: I see you clearly from over here, though.
stevenaia Michinaga: I don;t see you yet
Bruce Mowbray: np -- It takes time, sometimes.
Bruce Mowbray: I've been reading logs from the past few days.
stevenaia Michinaga: have you seem the summeries?
Bruce Mowbray: I think I read one in which you said your wife of 30+ years rolled over in bed and asked you which AV you were. . . and then went back to sleep.
Bruce Mowbray: I've seen some of the summaries -- Are those called "Scribe Reports"?
    stevenaia Michinaga: nods :)
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, they are always looking for those who can digest the salient point in logs of 3 days and post them
stevenaia Michinaga: but yes, that was me
Bruce Mowbray: wow. I know that I read some of Calvino's a while back.
    Bruce Mowbray: pretty amazing stuff.
stevenaia Michinaga: lots of meat in those logs
Bruce Mowbray: I read the one in which Yaku talks about his difficulty in saying what he wants to say . .
Bruce Mowbray: It was poignant and moving, actually.
Bruce Mowbray: Shall I claim this session - or would you like to do that, steve?
Bruce Mowbray: cool. I'm happy that you claimed it.
stevenaia Michinaga: special things sometimes happen here
stevenaia Michinaga: nods, it's my session
stevenaia Michinaga: I jsut needed a reminder
Bruce Mowbray: I know that special things have certainly happened for ME here.
stevenaia Michinaga: :), I  continue  to learn of things I would have never been exposed too
    Bruce Mowbray: indeed.
stevenaia Michinaga: so you were saying about my comment earlier?
    stevenaia Michinaga: hello Hokon
    Bruce Mowbray: Hi, Hokon.
    Hokon Cazalet: hi =)
stevenaia Michinaga: Have you been here before?
    Hokon Cazalet: yup
Bruce Mowbray is trying to remember what he said about what steve said. . .
Bruce Mowbray: How are you today, Hokon?
Hokon Cazalet: im doing well, but tired
    Hokon Cazalet: you?
Bruce Mowbray: the same.... almost my bedtime but (just like a kid) didn't want to miss anything.
stevenaia Michinaga: :what who said about what I said, Bruce, I think I missed something
Bruce Mowbray: You asked me to continue with my earlier comment. . . Was that the one about telling your wife which AV you were tonight?
    stevenaia Michinaga: nods
Bruce Mowbray: I was just referencing one of the logs.
Bruce Mowbray: There were several that I read all at once -- and they sort of run together in my mind.
    --BELL--
Bruce Mowbray: I'd intented to discipline myself to write a report for the Time Session this coming Friday. . .
Bruce Mowbray: but I started to read the logs instead -- and really got caught up with that.
stevenaia Michinaga: I enjoy Pema's chapters and the reports
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, me too - very muich.
    Bruce Mowbray: much.
stevenaia Michinaga: the time commitment is more than I am able to give
Bruce Mowbray: This week we are "letting ourselves be seen" - -
stevenaia Michinaga: this, however fits nicely into my schedule
Bruce Mowbray: The idea is to let what is "outside" of ourselves see whatever it is that we are.
Bruce Mowbray: For me, that's all about letting Nature see me.
Bruce Mowbray: But that is not new -- I prefer that Nature see me -- pretty raw, in fact.
stevenaia Michinaga: for me , it;s the basis of much of my being, in a passive way
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, there is a contemplative note to it.
    stevenaia Michinaga: feedback of sorts
    Bruce Mowbray nods.
stevenaia Michinaga: encouragement and criticiisim is digested
stevenaia Michinaga: works great for spelling tips
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Bruce Mowbray: I blame all of my typos on having dripped too much serious cereal into the keyboard.
stevenaia Michinaga: care to name that cereal? (lucky charms, perhaps)
Bruce Mowbray: Did you get to see Commander _____ (?) in concert?
stevenaia Michinaga: no, never got there, partly raining
    stevenaia Michinaga: Cody
Bruce Mowbray: mmmm..... Yes, Commander Cody, thanks.
Bruce Mowbray: Lucky Charms is not a serious enough cereal for me.
stevenaia Michinaga: strange, you have not rezzed for em this evening, not even a cloud, Bruce
Bruce Mowbray: How do I look for you, Hokon?
Bruce Mowbray: You both look fine to me.
Hokon Cazalet: bruce looks fine to me
stevenaia Michinaga: try to rebake, sometimes that helps
    Bruce Mowbray is rebaking...
    Bruce Mowbray: any improvement?
stevenaia Michinaga: nope nothing, you cannot be seen tonight
stevenaia Michinaga: try writing about that
    stevenaia Michinaga: there you are
    stevenaia Michinaga: welcome Bruce
Bruce Mowbray: I can't seem to get this cushion to adjust my posture...
stevenaia Michinaga: so being seen is very comforting to me
Bruce Mowbray: Being seen by Nature is comforting to me -- but I'm not sure how I feel about being seen by people.
Bruce Mowbray: That's probably one of the many reasons I am a hermit in RL.
Bruce Mowbray: The odd things is -- I do enjoy watching other people.
Bruce Mowbray: I love to go to big cities - like New York - and watch people all day long.
    Hokon Cazalet: =)
stevenaia Michinaga: :) interesting how seeing and being seen are so completely different
Bruce Mowbray: They seem to be different for me, anyway.
    --BELL--
Hokon Cazalet: i gotta go to bed, have a good night all =)
    Bruce Mowbray: Good night, Hokon!
    stevenaia Michinaga: thre night
    Bruce Mowbray: Pleasant dreams.
    Hokon Cazalet: =)
stevenaia Michinaga: was some aprehention about being seen in one of therecent session I attended
    Bruce Mowbray: oh really?
stevenaia Michinaga: by who I do not remember
stevenaia Michinaga: wonders if it;s judgement of others , or self?
stevenaia Michinaga: who do you enjoy being a hermit
Bruce Mowbray: Do you mean what do I enjoy - or why do I enjoy being a hermit?
    Bruce Mowbray: instead of 'who'?
stevenaia Michinaga: why... if there is an answer
    Bruce Mowbray: OK --
    stevenaia Michinaga: (typo)
Bruce Mowbray: Well, I realized when I was very little -- maybe seven -- that I was a "loner"
stevenaia Michinaga: yuo are slowly being able to read my typos
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Bruce Mowbray: np with your typos, steve -- (only consider changing the seriousness of whatever cereal you drip into the keyboard),'
stevenaia Michinaga: not to worry, my bad typing isn;t contagious, although it can be freudian
Bruce Mowbray: Anyway, I realized early on that I had to lick my own wounds and entertin myself. . .
    Bruce Mowbray: entertain.
stevenaia Michinaga: weren't you a teacher?
Bruce Mowbray: I did not "play well with others" because others didn't want to play with me... and that was just fine.
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, I was a teacher for many years.
stevenaia Michinaga: interesting, I have the opposite situation, Plays well with most types
stevenaia Michinaga: and easily entertained by them and myself
Bruce Mowbray: I have learned through the years to "play well" -- In fact, that's part of my problem... I learned too well how to be what others expected me to be.
Bruce Mowbray: and forgot about being who I am.
stevenaia Michinaga: not sure it isn't you, I find you play well here... appears to be you
Bruce Mowbray: Yes -- but in the RL I am a hermit -- playing well with others in SL.
stevenaia Michinaga: not that I know much about you, other than you play well
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
    Bruce Mowbray: Thanks!
Bruce Mowbray: I do get out a bit, though.
    stevenaia Michinaga: lol
Bruce Mowbray: For example, my lady friend and I went to see INCEPTION last night.
stevenaia Michinaga: it;s on my list
Bruce Mowbray: Well, I would strongly advise you to read a synopsis of the movie before you go to see it.
Bruce Mowbray: and I have a link for you, if you want it.
    stevenaia Michinaga: sure
stevenaia Michinaga: I have heard much about it
    Bruce Mowbray: Just a moment. . . .
    stevenaia Michinaga: n.p.
    Bruce Mowbray: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1375666/synopsis
Bruce Mowbray: I was discussing this with the pabbers who went to Nova Scotia -- and who saw the movie up there.
Bruce Mowbray: They didn't feel that it would give away the movie if one knew about it beforehand. . .
Bruce Mowbray: It's up to you, of course, whether you'd want to read the synopsis before you see it.
stevenaia Michinaga: A freind ran through his review with me
Bruce Mowbray: How did he/she feel about it?
stevenaia Michinaga: he felt the begining(1st hour) was a bit long
Bruce Mowbray: Mmmm. . . curious.
stevenaia Michinaga: but said I should see it
Bruce Mowbray: I was rivoted to the screen from the beginning.
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
Bruce Mowbray: But I have extremely sensitive hearings -- and should have taken earplugs to the theater.
stevenaia Michinaga: well I look forward to it, is it 3D?
Bruce Mowbray: I know that it is in I-Max -- and I think also 3D, perhpas, but my lady friend and I saw it in a regular theater.
    --BELL--
Bruce Mowbray: You will see a lot of parallels to what happens in PaB and the movie.
stevenaia Michinaga: perhaps that is a script that need to be written PaB, the movie
    Bruce Mowbray laughs.
Bruce Mowbray: It would be a BLOCKBUSTER, for sure.
stevenaia Michinaga: wich would be ironic as one of Pema's early metaphors for appearance was a movie
    Bruce Mowbray: really...?
stevenaia Michinaga: I dare not atempt to rephase it, but it's in the wiki/logs a number of times
Bruce Mowbray: so -- the theme of "being seen" might stem from that metaphor. . . at least partially.
stevenaia Michinaga: and the many way to see, as a movie w/ content and emotion, as light on a screen, etc
    Bruce Mowbray: yes, different levels.
stevenaia Michinaga: it;s all those things
Bruce Mowbray: Afterwards, my friend and I got into a big discussion about being a "hero" to ourselves.
stevenaia Michinaga: as is everything we see
stevenaia Michinaga: could you explain that?
Bruce Mowbray: and I told her that I did not want to go into my dreams (lucid dreaming, it's called) and fix stuff there.
Bruce Mowbray: I said that becoming The Lone Ranger, or Superman, or Jesus Christ - was not how I wanted to relate to my subconscious mind.
stevenaia Michinaga: dream mining of sorts, but not sure there is stuff to fix in there
Bruce Mowbray: There is a lot of stuff -- but not to fix -- not for me, anyway.
Bruce Mowbray: In the movie -- you will see this happen many times---
Bruce Mowbray: The "projections" of the sub-conscious provoke almost all of the movie's violence.
stevenaia Michinaga: sure. blame it on the subconscious
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Bruce Mowbray: Do you have time for an example of what I mean by "fixing"?
stevenaia Michinaga: Blaming it on "drinking" is similar, but I;ve never heard of the dream defence
    stevenaia Michinaga: (yet)
    stevenaia Michinaga: yes, listens
Bruce Mowbray: Well, you will understand it when you see th movie -- The mind tries to defend itself when it senses something is not right in the dream state.
    Bruce Mowbray: OK -- Wel. . .
Bruce Mowbray: My father died when I was a sophomor in college -- 19.
Bruce Mowbray: and for the next nine years I had a repeating nightmare that caused me to scream myself awake.
Bruce Mowbray: I went through college roommates - and a few roommates afterwards because of that.
Bruce Mowbray: However, when I moved to this farm (where I now live) nine years later,
Bruce Mowbray: the nightmare stopped for good -- Never have had it once in the past 40 years.
Bruce Mowbray: So -- my friend (who is a professional hypnotist) asked why I didn't try to "fix" the nightmare.
Bruce Mowbray: and I explained that all of that "stuff" is essential to who I am -- maybe especially the stuff that can provoke nightmares and moves across the country.
Bruce Mowbray: One of the lines in the movie that I really liked is, "We go forward by going down."
    stevenaia Michinaga: geography
Bruce Mowbray: (meaning, going down into the depths of our minds through dreaming).
    Bruce Mowbray: psychic geography, yes.
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
Bruce Mowbray: I spent the first half of my life "ascending" into the heavens -- looking for saviors, etc.
Bruce Mowbray: I've spend the second half going down.
    --BELL--
stevenaia Michinaga: I've been enjoying the newfound directions m 50's have brought me, worth the wait and worth my past to have gotten me here
    Bruce Mowbray: Indeed!
stevenaia Michinaga: everything prepares you fro what;s next
Bruce Mowbray: And it can get even better in your 60's!
stevenaia Michinaga: don;t tell my wife that
Bruce Mowbray: Isn't it wonderful how that happens . . .?
Bruce Mowbray: OK, I won't tell her -- promise.
stevenaia Michinaga: I belive it can be that way for everyone, I;m just having dificulty convincing people that
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
    stevenaia Michinaga: hello adoro
Bruce Mowbray: I like your use of the word "geography."
    Bruce Mowbray: Hi, adoro!
    adoro Rhapsody: good day
Bruce Mowbray: wow -- You are up LATE!
stevenaia Michinaga: funny, at the time I was thing it as Ohio

    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
adoro Rhapsody: its 5 am here in rl
stevenaia Michinaga: unfortunately RL calls and I must go
Bruce Mowbray: we were talking about "mental geography" -- or at least I was....
stevenaia Michinaga: take care bruce, nice chatting, gtsy adoro
    Bruce Mowbray: OK, steve.
    adoro Rhapsody: ill take over
Bruce Mowbray: Be well. and pleasant dreams.

adoro Rhapsody: i had no dreams
    Bruce Mowbray: Me neither, adoro.
