2010.08.29 08:00 - Guardian Session: Tips for New Hosts?

    Table of contents
    No headers

There were fourteen guardians present for this week's session: Adams Rubble : Aphrodite Macbain : Bleu Oleander : Bruce Mowbray : Eden Haiku : Eliza Madrigal : Eos Amaterasu : Ewan Bonham : Lucinda Lavender : Maxine Walden : Paradise Tennant : Yakuzza Lethecus : Zen Arado : stevenaia Michinaga. Session posted by Eliza.

This guardian session centered around the experiences of new guardians for PlayasBeing. It was about posting chat logs mostly, and the areas we find most confusion in generally.

A few questions left dangling had to do with differences in viewers and in text editors.

As you can also see (thanks Steve for posting the picture of the balloons!) we celebrated the birthday of our much loved and appreciated Poet, Eden Haiku, too :)

(More hello's are posted at the bottom of the log)

    Bruce Mowbray: Hello, Ewan.
Eliza Madrigal: Wonderful to see everyone piling in!
    stevenaia Michinaga: hello Maxine
Maxine Walden: hi everyone, sorry, trying to sit down is taking all my attention right now :))
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey ewan
    Eliza Madrigal: heheh Maxine
    Aphrodite Macbain: someone took picture
    Zen Arado: Hi everyone
    Maxine Walden: ah...
    Aphrodite Macbain: Hi Zen, Maxine
    Ewan Bonham: Hi folks
Birthday Balloon Drop ~Pastels: Preparing To Drop!
Birthday Balloon Drop ~Pastels: HAPPY BIRTHDAY! LET'S PARTY!
Eliza Madrigal: Before we get too settled in..
stevenaia Michinaga: waves to Adams and AphroditeSnapshot_001.png
Eliza Madrigal: happy birthday eden!! :D
    Bruce Mowbray: BALLOONS!
    Eden Haiku: oh wow!!!
    Eos Amaterasu: hapy b'day!
    Eliza Madrigal giggles
    Zen Arado: bon fete EDen
    Lucinda Lavender: :)))
    Bruce Mowbray: Happy Birthday, Eden!
Maxine Walden: ah,!!! Happy day, Eden
    Eden Haiku: Oh nice!!! Thanks!
Zen Arado: or is it bonne Anniversaire?
    Lucinda Lavender: Happy Birthday Eden:)!
    Adams Rubble: Happy Birthday eden
Ewan Bonham: The best to you, Eden!
Aphrodite Macbain: Happy birthday!! You haven't aged a bit

At various points during the session, Adams exuded galaxies, what looked like baloons, fireworks, and more!

Eliza Madrigal: :)) adams is exuding balloons for you now too...
    Eliza Madrigal: !
Eden Haiku: blushing, really enjoy the baloons and the wishes,
Zen Arado: we don't age in SL
    Eden Haiku: ;)
Adams Rubble: we can age in SL
stevenaia Michinaga: on the contrary, we get younger
    Eliza Madrigal: younger and wiser...
    Ewan Bonham: lol...yes
stevenaia Michinaga: I suppose another form of aging
Eden Haiku: Am here as one of the "elders" to help the new guardians this morning :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: yes, Eliza
    Adams Rubble: timelessness
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Zen Arado: you can help me Eden :)
Eliza Madrigal: Thank you Eden, and everyone. Wonderful that so many made it
Adams Rubble: until the computer crashes anyway
    Eden Haiku: ;)
    Maxine Walden: these varying realities...
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, and as one of the Sr (in duration) members here I ahve been having all sorts of problems posting my logs recently
stevenaia Michinaga: I sould be reading Wol's instructions more clearly
Eliza Madrigal: Well, let's start there then... Steven as mentor coordinator having issues?
    Maxine Walden: :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: smiles
Zen Arado: bad sign for the rest of us
Bruce Mowbray: What sorts of problems, steve?
Eliza Madrigal: :) Well, we have instructions on the wiki but they do need to be updated. I'm sure that I needed direct help the first few times (thanks adams)
stevenaia Michinaga: sometimes, depending on how much cleaning up of the log I do, when I paste the teste from a text editor into the wiki log nothing appears
Zen Arado: it's a lot easier to post direct from a browser I find
stevenaia Michinaga: usually directly from the web log to the wiki log works fine
Eos Amaterasu: I've noticed that too
Bleu Oleander: I find it easier to copy and paste the log as is first and then edit it
Zen Arado: text editors seem to introduce problems
stevenaia Michinaga: so I mess around until I get it ... somehow
Eos Amaterasu: what works in that case is to use the Copy button that's part of the toolbar
stevenaia Michinaga: except the wiki has no spellcheck
Eos Amaterasu: "T" paste as plain text
Eliza Madrigal: I go directly from the chat log, which is sent to me, to the wiki
Bleu Oleander: there's always a dictionary
stevenaia Michinaga: awww, copy text button
Eliza Madrigal: then I change things before saving

Adams Rubble: I do all my editing on the Wiki but I have learned it is best to save it again and again if one is doing major editing

Bruce Mowbray: I edit (correct spellings, etc.) in Word Perfect, then copy and paste into the wiki.
    Bleu Oleander: agree with Eliza
    Eos Amaterasu: Word Perfect!

    Aphrodite Macbain: I'm already confused

stevenaia Michinaga: yes, saving chenges immediately is helpful, them edit the text
Eliza Madrigal: I figure that we are all so international that spell check and typo correction is mostly silly
Zen Arado: yes Adams - if you take too long it goes wrong I find
Eos Amaterasu: yes, we don't want to lose the SL body language
Bruce Mowbray: No worries, Aph. We will walk you through it step by step.
    Eliza Madrigal: yes :)

stevenaia Michinaga: Aphrodite, when you do your first session, I can make myself available to assist you when posting
Eliza Madrigal: Okay... let's back up... and begin

Eos Amaterasu: I have a general hint about creating pages
    stevenaia Michinaga: listens
Eos Amaterasu: this is the nutshell
Aphrodite Macbain: I tried to log in but couldn't. I used my login name and pwd for SL but it didn't work
Eos Amaterasu: every page is a child with a parent
Eos Amaterasu: so to create a new page
Eos Amaterasu: you first go to its (future) parent page
Eos Amaterasu: and click the New Page button there
Eos Amaterasu: then the newly created page hangs off its parent
    stevenaia Michinaga: (the month)
    Eos Amaterasu: (mommmy.....)
    Eliza Madrigal nods

Zen Arado: lost me already :(
Eden Haiku: Today parent page would be logs then 2010 then 08
Maxine Walden: :) for Eos' imagery...
    Lucinda Lavender: :) yes
Eliza Madrigal: Aph, you may not be added into the wiki yet... might be a delay on that. It isn't the same as SL group
Bruce Mowbray thinks: GOOD explanation, Eos!
Eliza Madrigal: Some who do that have had computer issues and Cal is traveling for a few days, but we'll fix it :)
Zen Arado: how do you know its future parent page?
stevenaia Michinaga: if you have skype w/ screen share on it is easy to guide you for the first one or two time
Eos Amaterasu: BTW to create or edit pages you must be logged in to the Wiki
Aphrodite Macbain: so I have to wait until someone gives me this info?
    Aphrodite Macbain: the login info
Eliza Madrigal: yes it will come to you via email, a wiki password
Ewan Bonham: I was not able to log into the Wiki.
    Aphrodite Macbain: OK great/
Eliza Madrigal: Ewan but you are now, right?
Bruce Mowbray: Ewan also needs a password, then.
Eliza Madrigal: I remember that there were plumbing issues before...
Eos Amaterasu: anybody in the world can read pages on the wiki, but only guardians can create or edit pages - they have logins to the wiki
Ewan Bonham: I tried the one given me...still did not work..
    Aphrodite Macbain: plumbing issues?!
Eliza Madrigal: yes, thank you Eos ... exactly
stevenaia Michinaga: is my PaB watch distracting? anyone want a copy?

Eliza Madrigal: hahah Aph... basically a lag in the time between adding to SL group/email, and the wiki

Bruce Mowbray: Did you also include the "*" on either side of your PW, Ewan?
    Aphrodite Macbain: nice metaphor
Eden Haiku: oh that is what we heard Steve? I like it!
Eliza Madrigal: It is good to note that here, as something to pay closer attentin to
Eos Amaterasu: All the August logs have the same parent page: http://wiki.playasbeing.org/Chat_Logs/2010/08
Ewan Bonham: I can try that again..
    Zen Arado: ok
Play as being Watch  v1.1 for woman will ring next in 13 minutes 9 seconds.
    Aphrodite Macbain: woman?
Eden Haiku: Thanks for the watch Steve.
Zen Arado: have you got a men's version?
Eliza Madrigal: Right. To post a log, one goes to the wiki --->Chat Logs--->year---> month--->new page
Eos Amaterasu: When you create a new page, the very first line, at the top, will be used to help make up the URL for the page after you save it
Eos Amaterasu: For example, the latest August log:
    Eos Amaterasu: 2010.08.28 13:00 - All's Mellow at PaB's Fountain of Youth
Play as being Watch  v1.1 for woman will ring next in 11 minutes 34 seconds.
Eden Haiku: Yes, that's clear Eliza! First step to create a page,
Eliza Madrigal: It is a good tip to make sure you've got the title right before saving, too... as this will save an extra step of page moving

Lucinda Lavender: this is the point I get confused...

Aphrodite Macbain: I enjoyed All's Mellow
Eos Amaterasu: The chat logger automatically inserts that the date part at the very top of the log
    Eliza Madrigal nods
    Lucinda Lavender: yes
    Eliza Madrigal: but
Eden Haiku: Always best to wait at the very end before saving anything.

Eos Amaterasu: what I do is to first read the log, and then decide on a title for it, which I then add to that top line

stevenaia Michinaga: it can be trying, but try not to get frustrated, ask for assistance
Eliza Madrigal: you must paste one at a time... meaning, don't paste the whole thing with title at first
Eliza Madrigal: title, then the body of text....
stevenaia Michinaga: awww, nice point , Elize (will try that)
Eliza Madrigal: or visa versa, but the font is different

Zen Arado: I usually paste the whole session from the browser and cut and paste the title from the top line - less chance of typing title line wrong then

Eden Haiku: What I do is I paste the log as I received it (after correcting in Text)
Eos Amaterasu does approx what Zen does
    Eliza Madrigal: HI Paradise :)
Lucinda Lavender: I think I do what Zen does

Eliza Madrigal: It sounds very complicated, but after a few times very simple

Paradise Tennant: smiles all round my apologies for being late :)
    Zen Arado: Hi Paeadise
    Bleu Oleander: hi Paradise
Eliza Madrigal: I don't use an external editor, just to avoid my own confusion
    Adams Rubble: hello again Paradies
    Eliza Madrigal: :)

Aphrodite Macbain: Can we make commets on what is being said in the chat?

Lucinda Lavender: when I see the message that it cannot be edited on the right side I get confused

stevenaia Michinaga: to start, yes, keep it simple
Ewan Bonham: Is it possible the first time or two , we can so-lead and then walk thru the posting/
    Aphrodite Macbain: comments
Eden Haiku: The title is at the top, automatically. Then I copy the 2010.08.29 on Title line, add my title. And then I erase the next line (with the title from autologger )

    Eliza Madrigal: Aphrodite, yes....
Eos Amaterasu: You might notice in the Wiki editor that at top right of the very top line it says "title"
Eos Amaterasu: that means it's using the "title" style for that line
Eliza Madrigal: Once you paste the chat text on the wiki, you can comment before saving
Eos Amaterasu: (probably this is too much info)
    Eliza Madrigal: (@Aphrodite)
Eos Amaterasu: and of course you can save, and then edit again

Ewan Bonham: For, me it would would be much easier if I could walk it through with someone..
    Eos Amaterasu: Use "Undo"... :-)
Eden Haiku: Yes, we might be confusing you guys more than helping here actually...
Eliza Madrigal: Yes... not sure this is going to be a guide for new guardians yet... haha
    Eliza Madrigal: Ewan, absolutely :)
Eliza Madrigal: Even after walking through, it is good to have a page to refer to
Eliza Madrigal: which this will be helpful for I think

stevenaia Michinaga: doing works better as a learing tool than listening sometimes (like homework)

Eliza Madrigal: because so far we've talked about places we tend to get tripped up
Lucinda Lavender: each time I try it takes several tries and then it is on...
    Eliza Madrigal nods @ steve
    stevenaia Michinaga: me too Lucinda
    Zen Arado: Agree Steve
Aphrodite Macbain: Is there anythig actully written down? already

Eliza Madrigal: So let's talk about the actual hosting of sessions

    Eden Haiku: Yes
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, on the wiki
Zen Arado: it's a bit out of date though
Eliza Madrigal: Aphrodite, yes... and Zen is right. It needs cleaning
Aphrodite Macbain: sessions on the wiki?
Zen Arado: it talks about removing time stamps and such and that's not necessary any more
    Eliza Madrigal: http://wiki.playasbeing.org/Information
    Eliza Madrigal: right @ Zen
Aphrodite Macbain: Are there discussions on wiki? I read Pema's beautiful email and wondered
    Eos Amaterasu: http://wiki.playasbeing.org/Information/Guardian_Tutorial/Meeting_Log_Posting_Tutorial needs reviewing?
Eliza Madrigal: The auto-listener made the process MUCH easier than is suggested by the wiki guide

Stevenaia Michinaga: on to hosting... I have a comment that has been discussed before and offer it as a suggestion
Bleu Oleander: it might be good to pair an "experienced" guardian with a new guardian at first
Bleu Oleander: for "on the job" training
    Ewan Bonham: Good idea Bleu
    Lucinda Lavender: nice idea Bleu
    Paradise Tennant: smiles
Aphrodite Macbain: the auto-listener has it's role other than to reord?
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, a good idea
Bleu Oleander: someone in their time zone or close
Lucinda Lavender: I have had the benefit of Cal's expertise...

Eliza Madrigal: I have a template 'in progress' for new hosts of sessions. This is somewhat helpful, but cannot replace one on one help:

    http://wiki.playasbeing.org/PaB_Handbook/Regular_Activities_Coordinator_Tasks/Welcome_to_Hosting

Aphrodite Macbain: that would be great.. Could two be in the same site together at the same time?r
    Zen Arado: great Eliza
Eliza Madrigal: yes, Steve is the mentor coordinator officially, but any guardian would help when present
Lucinda Lavender: but do not want to be a bother
Eden Haiku: Sure Aph. You can come to my session tomorrow 7 SLT and we can co-host if you like.
    stevenaia Michinaga: also
    stevenaia Michinaga: http://wiki.playasbeing.org/Information/Guardian_Tips_for_Hosting_Meetings
Eliza Madrigal: For instance, I can be available for you Ewan, because we are in the same sessions often...
Eliza Madrigal: and also Gaya, since you will be stepping in for her session once a month

Zen Arado: bother? would be glad to see anyone at my 1 am session

Eos Amaterasu: By the way, to claim the log when you're at the fountain
    Ewan Bonham: Thank you, Eliza!
Aphrodite Macbain: That would be nice to share hosting- but I would need most help with the posting
Eos Amaterasu: click (not right-click) the base of the fountain, or thereabouts
    Lucinda Lavender: oh!
Lucinda Lavender: this must be important
Eden Haiku: You will need the password before posting anyway Aphrodite, That could be a later step.
Aphrodite Macbain: what will that do?

Adams Rubble notes that on the subject of sharing hosting that all gauardians can help other guardians at times if needed

Lucinda Lavender: what happens with the rt click as opposed to the click?
Eos Amaterasu: I just noticed that to get the dialog asking if yoiu want to claim the log,
Eden Haiku: A marine monster jumps in?
Eliza Madrigal: yes, thank you Adams. Every guardian is happy to help I'm sure
Eos Amaterasu: clicking works (for me), but right-clicking does not

Eliza Madrigal: to have help posting logs, one might use something like skype, google IM, or just signing on to SL at the same time
Paradise Tennant: smiles yes anyone who is online you can go to the playasbeing group and see who is available :) if they are not by chance on your friends list already
Lucinda Lavender: yes that is what I usually do...

Eos Amaterasu: Also, you can be watching the same page someone else is editing
Eden Haiku: Too bad we dont'have a fountain here to pratice the claiming part :))
Eos Amaterasu: just as long as the person editing is saving often
Eos Amaterasu: so you can see her/his changes

    Eliza Madrigal: Ah, true
stevenaia Michinaga: just touch the fountain and the menu to cleam will appear
Eos Amaterasu: you can practice clicking on anything
Lucinda Lavender: yes cal has helped me by watching before
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eos Amaterasu just clicked on the tatami mat
stevenaia Michinaga: you can try it in anyone session to see who has claimed it as well
    Eos Amaterasu: nothing happened
    stevenaia Michinaga: *claim
Aphrodite Macbain: Eos, where are you. There isn't a fountain here is there?

Eliza Madrigal: When I think about what most trips me up, I think posting the log in the wrong place is one... or not getting the title spacing correct

    Eos Amaterasu: I am here
    Eos Amaterasu: :-)
Eliza Madrigal: It is important to check just after saving, that the chat is in the right place

Lucinda Lavender: yes I have done those things Eliza
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, elize, an emergency call to Wol is needed for me sometimes
Aphrodite Macbain: Oh whenyou sad nothing happened Eos, I thought you were trying right now
Eliza Madrigal: by going to the chat logs list

Paradise Tennant: the chat logs really add a kind of connectedness and continuity to this community ..they really help make it a community so .. while I am sure to a new guardian it seems complicated but so well worth the effort in the long run there are such good thoughts expressed at our sessions :)

Eliza Madrigal: I very often sign on in the morning to move pages (that are) out of place actually
Aphrodite Macbain: You move pages into place?
Paradise Tennant: smiles at eliza sure her pages have tumbed into the wrong spot more than once
stevenaia Michinaga: (hoping they are not mine)
Eliza Madrigal: sometimes they are mine Steve!
    stevenaia Michinaga: lol
Eliza Madrigal: That's my point.. easy to do
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Zen Arado: I had a big problem getting my log to appear in the right place and then Steve helped me by pointing out that the person before me on the list had posted their log incorrectly

Eliza Madrigal: especially if tired or hurrying.... so there are little 'goings back' that are kind...
Eliza Madrigal: yes, we can step on one another's wiki toes too... however unintentionally
    Eliza Madrigal: heheh

Lucinda Lavender: interesting that in the process of transfering the chat parts of my awareness of what I am doing shut down...
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, that's a housekeeping issue we sometimes need to do Zen
Eliza Madrigal: you mean gear switching trouble Lucinda?
Eden Haiku: Yes, Eliza, you are very good at moving logs, thanks for that :))
    Eos Amaterasu: strong muscles

Aphrodite Macbain: In his last email Pema said: We are currently using three different media: wiki, email, chat sessions.
Each of those have their own dynamics. In my experience:

What is the difference between the chat discussion and the wiki one

Paradise Tennant: smiles and says a big thank you to eilza :)
    Eden Haiku: yes!
Eliza Madrigal: most welcome... its a persnickety thing perhaps... I love the way the titles look all lined up nicely
    Eliza Madrigal: hahah
Maxine Walden: :), Eos, moving logs takes muscles!
Eliza Madrigal: the titles themselves are like poems
Paradise Tennant: smiles thear are indeed
Eden Haiku: True and so intriguing...
stevenaia Michinaga: sometimes it talkes me longer to name a session than to post and edit it
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
Eos Amaterasu: I think chats means PaB SL session chats and their logs on the wikis
Lucinda Lavender: I think when you only partially understand what is required to transfer then the spacing etc is kind of another detail to get right
Eos Amaterasu: whereas "wiki" means wiki pages (co-)created
Eden Haiku: Still did'nt find time to read the one about "iguana" or something....
    Eliza Madrigal: Ah, true Lucinda
Eliza Madrigal: hahah Eden and winks at Paradise
Aphrodite Macbain: but the wiki pages are a recording of the chats so why did he separate them?
Paradise Tennant: smiles in a slightly land mamal kind of way :)
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, well there is a separate area for the time discussions taking place Aph
Zen Arado: is it wrong to introduce topics? I get the impression Pema was intimating that?
Eos Amaterasu: I read it as chats = "session chats, plus their logs", whereas wiki pages meant more like the time reports submitted by people
    Eos Amaterasu: or book chapters
Aphrodite Macbain: which land mamal are we talking about Paradise?
Eden Haiku: Picturing Paradise as a cute iguana :)
Eliza Madrigal: and I think Pema is refering to that... and also the guardians contributions pages
    Eliza Madrigal nods @ eOS
Paradise Tennant: sorry that would be a reptile kind of grin :)

Eos Amaterasu: the quality of conversation and dialog is different in each "realm"

Eden Haiku: I like the way Riddle introduces topics and pretends he is SO attached to them in his comments. It lightens to whole thing!

Aphrodite Macbain: I am not familiar with these time reports, I guess I haven't found them but a most interested in them haven't found them
Eliza Madrigal: So we have wiki chat logs, wiki discussions and book chapters, wiki contributions and records of rl meetings...
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, yes they are a little embedded Aphrodite, under "Pab books"
Eliza Madrigal: let me get a link
    Eliza Madrigal: http://wiki.playasbeing.org/PaB_Books
Eden Haiku: The Time reports are very difficult to find in the wiki yes, it takes forever...

stevenaia Michinaga: there are many places in the wiki to offer suggestions of "what to do" at a meeting, there havebeen many discussion on how topic should arise or be directed, I belive everyone has their own approach

Eliza Madrigal: this is where one finds pema's chapters, then also links to reports, which are under 'time sessions'
Eliza Madrigal: once you know, then you know ;-)

Bruce Mowbray: May I ask another question about the sessions at the fountain?
    Aphrodite Macbain: Thanks
    Eliza Madrigal: Sure Bruce
Bruce Mowbray: How does one deal with Griefers?

Eliza Madrigal: This is one of the reasons we have 'tags'
Zen Arado: that's my question too Bruce
Paradise Tennant: we have very few .. really :)
Eliza Madrigal: when you are a member of the group, you are empowered to eject them
    Zen Arado: how Eliza?
Eliza Madrigal: but yes, thankfully we have few
stevenaia Michinaga: (as a lst step)
Paradise Tennant: only seen one person expelled since I started
    stevenaia Michinaga: last
Bruce Mowbray: How does one eject a griefer?
    Eliza Madrigal: RIght click --->
Eos Amaterasu whispers, you are all super-heros!
Eden Haiku: Ah, I have a question about tags. How do you wear it?
Eliza Madrigal: (with your tag on)
Eliza Madrigal: in the pie, although I'm not sure about version 2 viewer in this regard
Eliza Madrigal: there is an option to eject
    Bruce Mowbray: ok.
Eos Amaterasu: I have only had to do this once ever
Eliza Madrigal: The tag is under groups, then activate
Bleu Oleander: to wear your tag you need to make PaB your active group
    Eliza Madrigal: playasbeinghere
    Eden Haiku: ah...
Eliza Madrigal: yes, Eos I think that was my only night too
Eliza Madrigal: we were really descended upon
    Bruce Mowbray: ok.
Eliza Madrigal: Storm, can ban people...
    Lucinda Lavender: long ago?

Aphrodite Macbain: I thought we could report an abuse but not eject.
Eliza Madrigal: but it is a long process and one reserved for persistent griefers

Bruce Mowbray: So, are you saying to right-click on the griefer.

Eos Amaterasu: yes, almost a year ago
    Bruce Mowbray: ?
stevenaia Michinaga: a while ago, some grifters, some intellectuals
    Eliza Madrigal nods @ Bruce
Aphrodite Macbain: That gves the griefer power to eject as well
    Eliza Madrigal: hahah Steve
stevenaia Michinaga: who just couldn;t stop
    Bruce Mowbray: ok, thanks.

Adams Rubble: if you want to try it out you can eject me
Eliza Madrigal: Aphrodite, the griefer is not in the sl group
stevenaia Michinaga: we would never Adams
Eliza Madrigal: so can't wear a pab tag
Paradise Tennant: smiles volunteers too :)
    Eliza Madrigal: so can't eject
    Adams Rubble: I'll come back
    stevenaia Michinaga: no, eject ME
    Adams Rubble: hehe

Eliza Madrigal: This is part of the reason choosing guardians is a process that takes a while

Paradise Tennant: smiles waiting to be ..orbited :)
Eos Amaterasu wonders about being on the watch for intellectuals
    Eliza Madrigal: hahahha

Bruce Mowbray: In version 2, I am getting a "BLOCK" choice -- Is that what one would click to eject a griefer?

    Maxine Walden: :) Eos
Aphrodite Macbain: only Guardians ca eject Is that what you're saying?
    Eliza Madrigal: yes exactly APh
Eliza Madrigal: guardians actually wearing their tags
stevenaia Michinaga: some just don;t play well with others, Eos
Lucinda Lavender: when I rt click on Steve there is no eject message in the choices offered
Aphrodite Macbain: So when I get my new label as Guardian that capability is besowed uon me
Paradise Tennant: good practise opportunities :)
Eliza Madrigal: Hmmm... are there viewer 2 users who might see what Bruce sees?
    stevenaia Michinaga: select ...more
Bruce Mowbray: Is it the BLOCK choice. . . . ??
    Lucinda Lavender: ah
Adams Rubble: you don't hve your tag on Lucinda
Eliza Madrigal: when you were invited to the sl group aphrodite, you were given that right, yes
Zen Arado: I can see 'eject' Bruce
Lucinda Lavender: ah but even without the tag it worked...
Bruce Mowbray: I do not see EJECT in Version 2, sorry.
Aphrodite Macbain: I put my Group Title tag on now
Bruce Mowbray: I only see BLOCK.
Eos Amaterasu: hmm, yes, I haven't used that in version 2
    stevenaia Michinaga: hehe

Lucinda Lavender: when I rt clicked on steve the second time there were more offerings
    stevenaia Michinaga: it works
    Adams Rubble: wb Steve
    Adams Rubble: are you hurt?

    Eliza Madrigal: Ah, interesting Lucinda
Aphrodite Macbain: is being a cultivator = being a guardian?
Zen Arado: block, report, freeze , eject, zoom in pay

Eliza Madrigal: yes Aphrodite, there are 3 tags actually...
stevenaia Michinaga: there are three tahs I believe you can wear
    Eliza Madrigal: guardian, host, cultivator
    stevenaia Michinaga: wear
Lucinda Lavender: I remember getting the choices made for the active group etc previously with Storms help
    Aphrodite Macbain: same thing?
Eliza Madrigal: in the group's info box there is a little tab where you can choose
    Eliza Madrigal whispers: yup!
Aphrodite Macbain: same powers to eject?

Bruce Mowbray: Can anyone please answer my question about "BLOCK" in version 2?
Eliza Madrigal: (don't know why I whispered that)
    Adams Rubble: don;t know Bruce
Eliza Madrigal: i wonder if block, is mute
Eliza Madrigal: because one can also mute someone
Paradise Tennant: nods at eliza happens to me too
Aphrodite Macbain: It comes up ith may things
Eliza Madrigal: but that doesn't stop them from bothering others
Lucinda Lavender: what do you see bruce when you click it?
stevenaia Michinaga: some grifters just go away when you ignore them
    Paradise Tennant: yes
    stevenaia Michinaga: (they bore easilly)
Paradise Tennant: they get bored if not engaged
Bruce Mowbray: If I right-click on someone, I get several coices in a menu.
Aphrodite Macbain: Like animate my avatar
Bruce Mowbray: The only one even remotely like "eject" is BLOCK.
Eliza Madrigal: I've also seen some who are disappointed if you talk to them, ask them lots of nice questions
Lucinda Lavender: I see block, report zoom in, freeze pay
    Eliza Madrigal: take interest :)
    Zen Arado: hmmm....no eject?
Bruce Mowbray: Are you in V2 Luci?
Aphrodite Macbain: I've clicked on you, then block and added it to my block list
    Lucinda Lavender: v 2
Aphrodite Macbain: I can unblock you too
    Bruce Mowbray: Please unblock me.
Eliza Madrigal: you may not be able to hear bruce when he is blocked aph
Aphrodite Macbain: But he's still present?
Eos Amaterasu: (this meeting could quickly disintegrate..)
Adams Rubble: block seems to "block" teleports to land
Eliza Madrigal: did you hear/read text from him a second ago?
Eliza Madrigal: well, it is almost time for that anyway Eos... hahyahah

<rant> It's typical of the attention to trivial detail and the essential *worthlessness* of Version 2 that they changed the name of the command to silence somebody from "mute" to "block." Mute was clear and unambiguous, block is ambiguous and confusing, as we all proved. Bah. </rant>

Great session, I wish I could have been there (but was at work). edited 00:26, 31 Aug 2010
