Bertram Jacobus: zen, i had the impression, yoe were not here for a while - is that correct and if so : why was that ? (and i am very happy to see you again here with us !) ... :-)
Zen Arado: true - not many people use coal fires any more

Bertram Jacobus: not in germany : here we have very strict laws about the control of all house heatings and so we have also in every region those people and profession - they earn a lot of money, because their regions are even protected : when you once get some, nobody else is allowed to make there their job

Qt Core: here two, a technician have to officially check each implants at least every two years leaving a certificate, the municipality runs random tests

Bertram Jacobus: hehe. tests. italy (!) - here it simply has to be and that´s all. i guess. or may be different : the sweepers are the controlers at the same time (!) ;-)
Qt Core: the first time we had to had to enlarge the air passages, one of the few things not a joke on controls
Bertram Jacobus: and because they get money for every house, their control will be very complete ;-)
Qt Core: basically the same here
Qt Core: but still every years we have some people dieing of CO2 poisoning
Bertram Jacobus: and when then there may be a tax inspection - may be then the authoroties see also whether the work is done correctly - don´t know ...

Zen Arado: they have 'smokeless' zones here where you aren't allowed to have coal fires
Qt Core: yes, but our laws require an opening itoward the outside where the boiler is
Zen Arado: or maybe just open cola fires

PAB and death notification and Facebook security:

Zen Arado: I wonder if they will have a pab funeral when one of us dies :)
Bertram Jacobus: but for that we would need a contact adress
Bertram Jacobus: how could we arrange that ? may be with or for the people who like to give it ?
Zen Arado: I have some email addresses of people in pab
Bertram Jacobus: yes - but when they try to write you and you are dead ;-)

Bertram Jacobus: they won´t know, only guess and even that will need a while ...
Zen Arado: I have one Facebook friend from pab
Qt Core: once on Shashdot i read a discussion and some solution on what to do for making the Net know you are dead
Zen Arado: if I died it would be on Facebook I'm sure
Bertram Jacobus: ah ! but you know somebody ? my idea is : the contacts here are to some of us not without a meaning, but this point has no solution yet, mostly - i, for example colud write the telephone number of a friend of mine in the pab members ection ...

Bertram Jacobus: but for that ... i´m not very knowing about facebook too - is it not necessairy that one knows a contact person of you to get such a message ? who would do it, then ? wouldn´t it be necessairy for somebody then to have access to your account to post such ?

Qt Core: they mostly were speaking abou, for examples all the passwords you only knows if you were to me a system administrator
Bertram Jacobus: nice idea zen - but even she has not yet such a contact adress from anybody of my first life (!) - but this is only accidental, was and is not willingly ...

Zen Arado: I have one friend in RL who is on SL though

Qt Core: i have a little notebook (the paper kind) with all my passwords so some of my relatives my find it... but none know really well how to use a computer and there are not the urls on that
Bertram Jacobus: what about this topic in general : don´t you find it important ?

Bertram Jacobus: i would find a friend i´m sure to whom i could give my passwords ... he could write them down for example without my name and so nobody else would know where to use them ...

Qt Core: myne almost are encrypted too... with my bad writing skill ;-)

Zen Arado: I wanted to share photos of my time in Australia in early 60's with friends but they were very reluctant to use Facebook

Bertram Jacobus: why was that ? reluctant ?
Qt Core: you can use something simpler, like picasa or flikr, they only do photo sharing
Zen Arado: they hear bad stories about Facebook
Zen Arado: privacy issues

Zen Arado: yes true Qt but I use Flickr for sharing photos of paintings
Zen Arado: I could picasa I guess
Qt Core: but even not going all the way to identity theft, there are "simpler" risk of geting info around that you don't like to share
Zen Arado: not sure about Facebook myself sometimes
Qt Core: or make a second Flickr account
Zen Arado: good idea Qt - never thought of that
Bertram Jacobus: i have no problems with all the "information" about myself - everybode may know everything. i find that theater only bizarre
Zen Arado: but Facebook is so good for sharing other things
