Bruce Mowbray: Yesterday afternoon (1 p.m. slt) I logged on from a public library in Dayton, Ohio - where I had traveled to visit a 95-year-old friend.

Bruce Mowbray: And I crashed THREE times just during the PaB session, so I didn't try to get back on-line after that. Something about their wi-fi connections, I guess.
Riddle Sideways: and some libraries won't let you install software like SL browser
Riddle Sideways: oh, just using their net
Bruce Mowbray: That didn't seem to be a problem --- There were literally dozens of others using the wi-fi -- Don't know enough about the technology to know whether that might have been the problem.

        Well, in the case of HHGTTU the first chapter kind of flavors the rest of the books.
        Years later, Douglas would tell young would-be authors not to destroy the Earth in the first chapter, "You might need it again, in some later chapter".
        Before I drop this, one more point.  There is an incredible scene of a sperm whale and a potted petunia.  Which materialize miles and miles above a medium sized planet and start falling.  The whale's dialog is one that I will some day quote into a chat session.  It is one of the greatest coming into instant existance, sencience, Being.  Comic and meaningful.  A must read.
        The main point here is...   All the potted petunia said was "oh, not again!"
        "If we were to know what that remark meant.  We would know a great deal about what the ..."
        That off remark repeats and is explained (somewhat) over 3 more volumes.
