Mickorod Renard: I am fine thanks,,and you?
Vendy Walpole: worried cause next week
    Mickorod Renard: yes?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: oh?
Vendy Walpole: thinking of work, maybe should not but it captures me
Alfred Kelberry: what if we stop labeling days of week? :)
    Vendy Walpole: Good idea Alfred
Alfred Kelberry: or shift them. say monday becomes sunday :)
Mickorod Renard: I used to worry on sundays
SophiaSharon Larnia: sounds good to me I practically do anyway :)
Vendy Walpole: how you manage to stop worry?
Mickorod Renard: even more driving to work on mondays
Mickorod Renard: now I dont worry about work at all,,its a lovely feeling
Vendy Walpole: but how Mick not to worry?
    Alfred Kelberry: "here's a little song i wrote..." :)
Mickorod Renard: I am not sure,,maybe I dont need to work,,like before,,so now its more for fun
    Bolonath Crystal: hello fox
    SophiaSharon Larnia: Hi Fox :)
Mickorod Renard: same job or at least same pressure,,but no worry
    Mickorod Renard: Hiya Fox
    Fox Monacular: hi everyone
    Vendy Walpole: sounds as dream
    Vendy Walpole: Hi Fox
Alfred Kelberry: mick, maybe you just got used to the feeling and do not notice it?
Mickorod Renard: like I say,,nothing much changed as far as works concerned,,so clearly its a frame of mind
Alfred Kelberry: got it vendy? "a frame of mind" :)
Mickorod Renard: I do notice I am addicted to worry,,I still have to find something to worry about
Vendy Walpole: yes, one of the reasons why I am here

    --BELL--

    Fox Monacular: Hi Zen
    Zen Arado: Hi all
Mickorod Renard: Salut Zen,pose le derrier
    Bolonath Crystal: hi zen
SophiaSharon Larnia: Hi Zen Hi Storm
Storm Nordwind whisper Hi to all
    Zen Arado: hi
    Mickorod Renard: Hi Storm
Vendy Walpole: Hello Storm, interesting arriving, like it
    Fox Monacular: Hi Storm
    Zen Arado: Hi Storm
Alfred Kelberry notes a snowball in storm's hand :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: thought about worry during the 90 seconds and dropping that, Im worried about driving in the snow tonight, is dropping some sort of worries realistic
    Mickorod Renard: yes
Vendy Walpole: are you better now, worries still dropped Sophia?
Mickorod Renard: too much confuses a clear thinking
    SophiaSharon Larnia: smiles
Zen Arado: what is worry? I am thinking
SophiaSharon Larnia: just wonder if too much dropping of a thing also prevents you from seeing what is there
    Zen Arado: needless mind churning?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: sounds right
Zen Arado: concern is ok then?
Storm Nordwind: Combined with an emotional reaction, I suspect
Zen Arado: as a motivator I mean
Mickorod Renard: its funny Vendy,,I had a spell when I didnt work ,,I became crazy,,I had to go back to work to become normal again,,whatever that is,,now I find it more disturbing at the weekends when I have nothing to absorb my mind
Zen Arado: you may be using distraction to
Calvino Rabeni: Worry is, in part, one did not trust oneself the first time one thought about something, so, repeat.
Vendy Walpole: It is a well known syndrome - weekend's syndrome
Calvino Rabeni: Lather, rinse, repeat. :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: grins
    Mickorod Renard: he he
Storm Nordwind has not been allowed to work in his new home until today, and still loves the weekends!
Mickorod Renard: leaving off doing something,,cos ur worried,,only compounds the problem
Vendy Walpole: agree, have to work out to solve the worries - to stop them on time
Mickorod Renard: I will be ok at the weekends when I can comence with my toys,,which are all in boxeds still
Zen Arado: we need our toys :)
    Mickorod Renard: yes,,we sure do
SophiaSharon Larnia pictures a big toy box ;)
Calvino Rabeni: I'd like to hear about the toys :)
Mickorod Renard: mostly motorbikes and stuff
Zen Arado: my main ones are computers
    Calvino Rabeni: Good on ye
Zen Arado: don't know how I would put in my time without one
Vendy Walpole: I used to read a lot before found out of Second Life, the books were my toys
Mickorod Renard: I spend too long on computers
    SophiaSharon Larnia: nods
Mickorod Renard: I still like a book
Storm Nordwind: Recreation is re-creation. It's essential. :)
Zen Arado: doing it now :)
Calvino Rabeni: Same here - it has completely interfered with my TV watching
Mickorod Renard: am reading biggles at the moment
    SophiaSharon Larnia: Hi Stevenaia
    Bolonath Crystal: hi steve
    stevenaia Michinaga: hello
    Mickorod Renard: Hi Steve
Zen Arado: read him when I was 12
    Vendy Walpole: Hi Steve
    Zen Arado: Hi Steve
Mickorod Renard: yes, I am going through my third childhood
    Zen Arado: :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: laughs
Vendy Walpole: which is wonderful Mic
Storm Nordwind gave up growing up a long time ago. It's overrated.
    SophiaSharon Larnia: Hi Wol
Vendy Walpole: young spirit, what is better? :)
Wol Euler: hello everyone, sorry I'm late
Zen Arado: would seem very British gung ho now I suspect
    Bolonath Crystal: hi wol
    Vendy Walpole: Hi Wol
    Zen Arado: Hi Wol
Wol Euler skritches Vendy's ears gently.
    Vendy Walpole: giggles
    Mickorod Renard: Hiyaaaaa,,Wol
    arabella Ella: hiya
    SophiaSharon Larnia: Hi Arabella
Fox Monacular: sorry, computer froze, back now:)
    Bolonath Crystal: hi ara
    Vendy Walpole: Hi Ara
    Mickorod Renard: Hiya Ara
    Zen Arado: Hi Ara
SophiaSharon Larnia: for all who just arrived, we were talking about worry
arabella Ella: ok ty Sophia S
    stevenaia Michinaga: worrying?
Zen Arado: techniques to overcome worry ?
    Vendy Walpole: yes, that too

    --BELL--

Bolonath Crystal: whenever we worry about something to come, we are not in the here and now
    stevenaia Michinaga: dropping worry
    Vendy Walpole nods 10 times
Bolonath Crystal drops the silence ;)
Mickorod Renard: I get rid of as many things I need to do immediately, that helps me
arabella Ella: is learning not to worry too much a skill one could build i wonder?
Zen Arado: yes..take action if possible
Vendy Walpole: Mic, does it always work to you?
Storm Nordwind: I think it's possible to learn not to worry ara
Zen Arado: is worry tied in with ego?
Storm Nordwind: Yes it is in a way , Zen, as it can come from not seeing what is real
Vendy Walpole: it is tied with monkey mind for sure, and it is ego's mind
Fox Monacular: don't meant to interrupt, but I have to go now... take care everyone!
    Storm Nordwind waves
arabella Ella: i also wonder why (or how) some people tend to have a laid back attitude, others not?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: bye Fox
Zen Arado: wory about protecting self
    Vendy Walpole: Bye Fox
    Mickorod Renard: bye who's leaving
    Zen Arado: bye Fox
stevenaia Michinaga: wonders how many of us (men) piss up a rope? same thing with worry, just as pointless
Mickorod Renard: having outstanding things hanging around to worry about doesnt help
Storm Nordwind is not familiar withe Steve's expression
    Zen Arado: me neither :)
stevenaia Michinaga: nods, perhaps it's an american saying
Vendy Walpole: please explain it Steve
arabella Ella: interesting expression nevertheless ... never heard of it either
Vendy Walpole: sounds like Chinese to me
Calvino Rabeni: I never heard it here.
SophiaSharon Larnia: heard of it before grins
    Calvino Rabeni: SO I guess you're saying - don't bother :)
stevenaia Michinaga: it's something no one would do, if you get the image of a pointless excecise to "urinate up a rope"
Mickorod Renard: we have piss against the wind
    Vendy Walpole: ah
Wol Euler: "don't you piss on my shoes and then tell me it's raining"
Zen Arado: which is also dangerous :)
Vendy Walpole: we say - piss against the wind too
stevenaia Michinaga: I relate to worrying like that
SophiaSharon Larnia: dropping worry implies a trust,it seems to me
Vendy Walpole: but aren't worries helpful sometimes?
Mickorod Renard: I would worry about pissing on your shoes Wol
    stevenaia Michinaga: wonders when?
Zen Arado: ah yes implies lack of confidence ?
Storm Nordwind: I think if there is something one can have complete and utter faith in to take care of what is really important in one's life, then worry disappears completely.
Vendy Walpole: well, if you wish to stay late out in some club before an important meeting, the worries would help bring you home
Vendy Walpole: (the meeting should be early in the morning here)
Zen Arado: yes there is also a motivator
Vendy Walpole: what if we do not worry?
Zen Arado: but that gets away from the meaning of the word a bit I think
Vendy Walpole: we could lose the job
Storm Nordwind: Part of dealing with worry comes from identifying what one's priorities really are. What is really important? What really matters most? That gives a sense of perspective
Mickorod Renard: I dont think worry actually achieves anything
    stevenaia Michinaga: I agree
Zen Arado: me too it is poointless mind spinning
    Mickorod Renard: maybe poor health
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
Zen Arado: yes can drag you down
Mickorod Renard: but it is something we all have to deal with in some degree
Vendy Walpole: what would be the name of the state of thinking of bad consequences on time?
Zen Arado: worry about children especially
    Storm Nordwind: pessimism Vendy?
    Vendy Walpole: hmmm
Mickorod Renard: not sure I understand that Vendy
arabella Ella: or parents or debts or loss of something like job or income
    Mickorod Renard: concern?
Vendy Walpole: we have to think of consequences and be responsible
    Zen Arado: lots of causes
Vendy Walpole: that involves the worries, partially
Calvino Rabeni: If your friend worries, what do you try to do ?
Storm Nordwind: We can think of consequences without worrying at all
Vendy Walpole: I talk with him/her to see does he/she have a right to worry and try to help
Zen Arado: we tell them not to worry ...which is pretty pointless
SophiaSharon Larnia: objectively, without the subjectivity
arabella Ella: worry often comes from a state of mind where there is dissonance ... and where we dont always have easy solutions answers or action
Calvino Rabeni: Help them sort it out
    Zen Arado: yes complicated situations
Zen Arado: caught in the middle or something
Mickorod Renard: can u explain disonance Ara?
Calvino Rabeni: Give them a place where that is OK
Vendy Walpole: I think worry in smaller amount is helpful but if it blocks us of solving the problem, that is deconstructive habit
Storm Nordwind: Listening is often the best first step. Sorting it out for someone else can sometimes cause as many problems as it solves
    Zen Arado: agree
arabella Ella: dissonance is when things as they occur are not in synch with what you wish or expect
Mickorod Renard: taking a step back,,just for a second or two helps,,and this in a way is what we discover here
Calvino Rabeni: Problem solving mode can often not really help, I agree storm.
    Mickorod Renard: thanks Ara
Vendy Walpole: dissonance = life itself for the mind in state of not being
Storm Nordwind: The one thing, ara, that one can control then (in dissonance) is what one wishes or expects! :)
Zen Arado: but worry is often from intractable problems you can't do much about like having a teenage son who takes drugs

    --BELL--

arabella Ella agrees with Zen ...
Mickorod Renard: yes, I see your point Zen
Vendy Walpole: I thinkthere are levels of worries and different effects they cause
Mickorod Renard: but you will break eventually Zen, under those conditions,,and hopefully one in that situation finds a sort of faith that something will come to save the day
arabella Ella: i find worry comes about most when things go wrong like with illness or unemployment or as Zen said kids ... and when there is no easy solution
Vendy Walpole: some worries have a productive effect, though
Storm Nordwind: Worrying about someone else can render one less able to help them.
Vendy Walpole: it can keep us focused
Mickorod Renard: I have never discovered a useful side effect to worry yet
SophiaSharon Larnia: Bye all, I have to leave early to drive in the snow, and try not to worry :)
arabella Ella: yes Vendy i see your point too
Wol Euler: bye sophia, take care
    arabella Ella: bye SophiaS
    SophiaSharon Larnia: waves
    Mickorod Renard: bye Sophia
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey everyone
    Bolonath Crystal: om shanti, sophia
    Wol Euler: safe roads
    Zen Arado: bye Sophia
    arabella Ella: Hiya Yaku
    Bolonath Crystal: hi yak
Vendy Walpole: thank you and drive safely
    Zen Arado: Hi Yak
    Vendy Walpole: Bye
    Mickorod Renard: Hi Yak
Storm Nordwind: I disagree Vendy. It can take the focus off a sense of perspective
Zen Arado: concern yes - woryy no
Vendy Walpole: thats why i said there are levels of worries
Vendy Walpole: some block all of our energy
Wol Euler: hello foxfree, nice to see you again
    Vendy Walpole: some are stimulative
Zen Arado: worry seems to be the useless component of concern?
    Mickorod Renard: Hi Foxtree
    stevenaia Michinaga: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Worry
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
    Zen Arado: Hi Foxtree
    Foxtree Gorbunov: hi
Storm Nordwind: All are inhibiting, I believe Vendy. One's actions can be much freer and more effective without it
Mickorod Renard: yeh,,ditch the worry Vendy and take the concern instead,,its much better
arabella Ella: isnt there a fine line between worry and concern?
Calvino Rabeni: Worry comes from having a mind that is not one-pointed
Zen Arado: ok moderate worry is ok:)
Mickorod Renard: we have wittle too,,is that an old word Storm?
Vendy Walpole: concern, isn't it a lower level of worry?
Calvino Rabeni: There may be more than one concern that are in conflict
Zen Arado: yes I think so
Mickorod Renard: no,,a more controlled version
    Zen Arado: yes that too
Calvino Rabeni: You may have a shadow element you don't credit
Zen Arado: it's the out of control aspect that is so bad
Mickorod Renard: that sounds interesting Cal?
Calvino Rabeni: I don't think one can just "decide" to be one-pointed
Calvino Rabeni: because it comes from an ego
arabella Ella: @ Zen ... and its ofteen the out of control element that brings worry into the picture too
Calvino Rabeni: and has a fixed idea of what is useful and what is useless
arabella Ella wonders what is 'one pointed'?
Calvino Rabeni: worry sometimes bespeaks a part of oneself that is not getting full attention
    Mickorod Renard: mmmmmmmm
Calvino Rabeni: One-pointed means not having multiple egos
arabella Ella: multiple egos ... how?
arabella Ella: (escuse my questions ...)
Calvino Rabeni: The one in charge, doesn't like the other one, but the worry may come from the other one.
    arabella Ella: ah ok
    Mickorod Renard: ahhhhh
Storm Nordwind: In a non-integrated person you mean?
Bolonath Crystal bows silently and disappears
Calvino Rabeni: And when heard, or reassured, or respected it may relax
arabella Ella: like the mouse and the lion you mean?
    Calvino Rabeni: Everyone is non-integrated
Foxtree Gorbunov: I like to think of multiple egos like multiple skins in SL
    Storm Nordwind: I disagree
Calvino Rabeni: About being multiple, Storm
    Calvino Rabeni: ?
Zen Arado: sorry - I have to go
    Mickorod Renard: bye Zen
    Zen Arado: bye
    Vendy Walpole: bye Zen
    Wol Euler: bye zen, bolo
    Calvino Rabeni: Bye
    arabella Ella: nite Zen
Storm Nordwind: I disagree that everyone is non-integrated. I know it is possible to be integrated
    Foxtree Gorbunov: bye
    Mickorod Renard: bye Bolo
Calvino Rabeni: Majority, then, as a common condition.
Calvino Rabeni: You may be one pointed
Calvino Rabeni: and it may be possible - sure.
Mickorod Renard: but I see where ur going Cal
Calvino Rabeni: But the common condition - in which worry is a phenomenon, is of not being one-pointed
Storm Nordwind: Please excuse me - lunch is being served. Please enjoy the ice rink to the west afterwards if anyone wishes!
    Calvino Rabeni: Where, storm?
Storm Nordwind: Just follow the corridor of torches!
    Mickorod Renard: thanks,,bye storm
Calvino Rabeni: West of here - I am still learning what is Kira land
    arabella Ella: bye Storm
    Calvino Rabeni: BYe
    Vendy Walpole: Bye
    Foxtree Gorbunov: bye
Storm Nordwind: This way - later - if you wish!
    Storm Nordwind waves
Vendy Walpole: I am just thinking how useful it is to be able to see yourself, your thoughts and emotions, and recognize in what state you are in, as the first step
Calvino Rabeni: most valuable thing, almost
Mickorod Renard: I think thats a good start Vendy
Vendy Walpole: we are here for that too? Aren't we?
Vendy Walpole: it is a part of play as being
Calvino Rabeni: I agree with that idea Vendy
Mickorod Renard: I think we are here to perhaps exercise a method of clearing our thoughts for a few seconds,,to see what is there

    --BELL--

Mickorod Renard: I used to worry about stuff..with my previous work
Mickorod Renard: and some of that was perhaps knowing that as much as i did the job correctly, i know there were holes,,and that I didnt want the disgrace to my ego if caught out
    stevenaia Michinaga: bye all
    Yakuzza Lethecus: bye stev
    Vendy Walpole: bye, waves
    Foxtree Gorbunov: bye
Mickorod Renard: but I now tell jmyself, that I do my job as well as anyone,,and if I faulter, thats life
    Mickorod Renard: bye Steve
    Foxtree Gorbunov: RL calls
    Foxtree Gorbunov: see you all
    Vendy Walpole: bye Foxtree
    Mickorod Renard: bye Foxy
Wol Euler: a very good attitude, MIck
Mickorod Renard: there is an expectancy, and a reasonable expectancy
Vendy Walpole: I do not like when my work depends on others, but it is again an ego thing, as you felt earlier Mick
Mickorod Renard: in the end,,we all like to be loved by others
    Wol Euler: sure
Mickorod Renard: its the fear we may lose some of that , that may add stress to situations
    Vendy Walpole: agree
Calvino Rabeni: You have a sober tone, Mick, I like it
Vendy Walpole: Cal, what does your subtag means exactly? You hate rules?
Mickorod Renard: grin,,hey, it doesnt mean I can practice what I preach,,all of the time
    Vendy Walpole: dullness-rules
Calvino Rabeni: It means, dullness is king.
    Calvino Rabeni: :)
    Vendy Walpole: grins to Mick
    Vendy Walpole: oh
    Mickorod Renard: he he
Vendy Walpole: it says now rocks
    Wol Euler smiles
    Vendy Walpole: you changed it
Wol Euler: I think dullness is greatly underrated as an organizing principle
Calvino Rabeni: I've been trying to track down a philosopher who investigated the necessity of mediocrity - does that ring a bell for anyone?
    Calvino Rabeni: Yes, Wol
    Mickorod Renard: Ara will know
arabella Ella: do you have a name Cal or are you asking for a name?
    Mickorod Renard: Ara,,where r u?
Calvino Rabeni: That would be helpful
arabella Ella: here i am Mick
arabella Ella: well it could be one of the existentialists
Mickorod Renard: was it that greek guy 'meadiocraties?
arabella Ella: jean paul sartre wrote Nausea for example
    arabella Ella: or Albert Camus
    Wol Euler: hehehehe
Calvino Rabeni: Not sure, I think not french.
    Calvino Rabeni: German perhaps
Vendy Walpole: can you tell us more about the necessity of mediocrity? Ara or Cal?
arabella Ella: Camus was from Algeria
Vendy Walpole: in a few words, of course
Calvino Rabeni: The place where we live - the center - if given respect - becomes transformed
arabella Ella: i think i may need some more details Cal before i can make more educated guesses :)
Calvino Rabeni: Rather than always having ideas of being better, elsewhere
Calvino Rabeni: Aristotle created the law of the excluded middle (or something like that)
    Wol Euler nods
    Vendy Walpole: golden middle
Mickorod Renard: we do something on those lines in Wok..Cal
Calvino Rabeni: Chinese had a blend of Yin and Yang, with anything in between
Calvino Rabeni: Yes, the yellow path or middle path
    Mickorod Renard: Ways of knowing
Calvino Rabeni: In the west we get enamored of extremes
Vendy Walpole: we say- the middle is golden
Calvino Rabeni: The middle needs its champion
arabella Ella: it does Cal i agree
arabella Ella: too many ppl going for too much adrenaline
Calvino Rabeni: yes, they have a certain desperation driving them
arabella Ella: but ... if life becomes full of adrenaline rushes ... does it still remain fun challenging or interesting i wonder?
arabella Ella: surely the effect then diminishes and fades away?

    --BELL--

Mickorod Renard: there is only now..to be too concerned with the future,,what ifs will only spoil the now
Calvino Rabeni: it seems that way ara
arabella Ella: (leaving one un-comfortably numb?)
    Wol Euler: :)
Vendy Walpole: Okay, I hope you will let this small creature go to sleep now, it is rather late for her
Wol Euler: goodnight vendy, sleep well
Mickorod Renard: nite nite Vendy,,sleep well
Vendy Walpole: was nice to share worries with you or all about them :)
    Vendy Walpole: good night
    Calvino Rabeni: :)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: good night everyone
    Wol Euler: bye yaku
    Mickorod Renard: nite yaku
arabella Ella: so is anyone here planning to come to the Malta retreat?
    Wol Euler: yep
    Wol Euler: almost definitely.
    Mickorod Renard: I am
    Mickorod Renard: planning that is
    arabella Ella smiles
Wol Euler: I'll know by the middle of the month
    arabella Ella: wow great
Mickorod Renard: air flight no prob
arabella Ella: Wol I really hope you can make it and you too Mick
Calvino Rabeni: No, although I would if I had money/work, but as it is, no can do.
Mickorod Renard: still need to make sure the total cost doesnt annoy people here
Calvino Rabeni: I am looking forward to - future meeting, maybe in California :)
arabella Ella: Well Cal i can well understand as it is also quite expensive for those of us in Europe to travel to CA
Mickorod Renard: I would love to do a california one,,but airfares are so expensive for me
Calvino Rabeni: Yes, i do know that - Is Boston or Washington better?
arabella Ella: yes East Coast would be somewhat less expensvie
Mickorod Renard: I think it would be
Wol Euler: I'm considering the July meeting in Nova Scotia too, as I'll likely be in Canada next summer anyway
    Mickorod Renard: that sounds good
arabella Ella: and I'm also looking forward to the Munich one Wol :)
Wol Euler: heheh, then I hd better start planning it.
Mickorod Renard: not seen that one
    arabella Ella: he he
arabella Ella: just let me know when you fix dates so i can try to block them
Wol Euler: well, the date is pretty well fixed right now.
    arabella Ella: oh
arabella Ella: do you know them off hand then?
    Wol Euler: october 11-15
Mickorod Renard: munich? will I have to wear short leather pants?
Wol Euler: will be the core dates of actual practicing, maybe one day before and after for arriving/leaving
Calvino Rabeni: No, but you must sit in a cellar and drink beer :)
Wol Euler: we could arrange that differently depending on how many people come from North America
arabella Ella: ok will take note ... and yes Mick the shorter the better ...
Mickorod Renard: I may manage that
Wol Euler: because those flights are almost always overnight, they arrive in the morning
Wol Euler: the pants are optional, mick, but recommended.
    Mickorod Renard: mmmmmm?
    Calvino Rabeni: please :)
Wol Euler: leather pants, responding late to your joke
Mickorod Renard: yes,,I was just pondering
arabella Ella: and ... those who wear the short pants must have ... (cant say it while this is being recorded)
    Wol Euler: heheheheh
Wol Euler: whisper in my ear.
arabella Ella: hey Wol will that not be Oktoberfest time in Munich?
    arabella Ella: he he
Wol Euler: no, it won't, it's two weeks after that.
    arabella Ella: oh good
    arabella Ella: he he
Wol Euler: Oktoberfest 2010 is ... lemme check
Wol Euler: yea, we deliberately set it NOT to coincide
Mickorod Renard: now then, I have to go home
    arabella Ella: good
Calvino Rabeni: And I as well will be off...
Wol Euler: 18 sept to 03 october
Mickorod Renard: thank you for a lovely evening
arabella Ella: (that it is not at Oktoberfest time)
arabella Ella: i must go too
Wol Euler: bye mick, bye cal, take care, enjoy the weekend
    arabella Ella: nite everyone
    Wol Euler: bye ara!
    Calvino Rabeni: Bye all.
    Mickorod Renard: nite nite all
