Tarmel was the GOC and these are her comments: Happy 2010 to all! I was alone for the first 15 mins and then joined by Calvino, followed by Nymf

    Calvino Rabeni: Good day!
Tarmel Udimo: Hey Calvino - merry Christmas!
Calvino Rabeni: Thanks ! It was.
Tarmel Udimo: great!, before i forget
Tarmel Udimo: tks for posting a chat log last week
Tarmel Udimo: it was meant to be mine...
Calvino Rabeni: no worries, my pleasuer
Tarmel Udimo: coming to the party?
    Calvino Rabeni: Yes I will
    Tarmel Udimo: should be fun:)
Calvino Rabeni: Easier than a RL party
Calvino Rabeni: And fewer calories :)
    Tarmel Udimo: grins
Tarmel Udimo: yes speaking of calories, how was christmas?
Calvino Rabeni: One big seafood dinner; not bad overall - no sweets
    Tarmel Udimo: good for you..
Tarmel Udimo: seafood, are you by the sea or a vegey?
Calvino Rabeni: Yes, Seattle is by the coast
    Tarmel Udimo: ahhh
Tarmel Udimo: we had lots of rain which I rather like but I wasn't as good as you.. (did have a number of chocolates:)
Calvino Rabeni: truth be told... a few days prior, there was a party with a large table of that kind of food
Calvino Rabeni: I need a bland diet.
    Tarmel Udimo: OK:)
    Calvino Rabeni: Nothing with spices
    Tarmel Udimo: nods
Calvino Rabeni: So the chocolates and baked goods are fine; the soups are not
Play as Being 15 minute bell:
Tarmel Udimo: this is my favourite time of year, the period between christmas and NY, its kind of a non-zone, where one festivity is over and another approaches:)
Calvino Rabeni: Yes, a kind of momentum between them, but relaxing also
    Tarmel Udimo: very relaxing
Calvino Rabeni: I knew someone with birthday on Jan 1st - to add to the mix
Tarmel Udimo: expectations are low and we are allowed to rest
Calvino Rabeni: No one does much work during that time
Tarmel Udimo: that would be interesting
Tarmel Udimo: yes not much work
Tarmel Udimo: celebrating landing on the planet at the beginning of the year rather fortunate perhaps?
Calvino Rabeni: That rhythm is natural - the way it should be (referring to "not doing much work")
Tarmel Udimo: yes exactly, the space is freed up because all the focus was on getting to Christmas and then come the 30th or 31st getting to NY
Tarmel Udimo: but the in between days are light hearted
IM: Calvino Rabeni: Take out or minimise - I leave it to your good judgment
Nymf Hathaway: Hello you two :)
    Tarmel Udimo: hey Nymf
    Tarmel Udimo: how goes it?
    Calvino Rabeni: Hiya Nymf
Nymf Hathaway: Doing well, hope you two are the same?
Tarmel Udimo: nods very well, tierd but well:)
Nymf Hathaway: What is the topic?
    Tarmel Udimo: and christmas?
    Tarmel Udimo: christmas
    Nymf Hathaway: Was nice :)
    Tarmel Udimo: nods
Calvino Rabeni: I am enjoying the seasonal darkness this year.
    Tarmel Udimo: ?
    Tarmel Udimo: winter?
Calvino Rabeni: I was thinking about the natural rhythms of the seasons
Calvino Rabeni: and contrasted to artifical rhythms of industrial society
    Tarmel Udimo: nods
Tarmel Udimo: meaning we should be hold up in front of a fire weaving and sewing and mending tools:)
    Calvino Rabeni: sounds good, metaphorically
    Tarmel Udimo: hehehe
Calvino Rabeni: inward activities at this time of year
Calvino Rabeni: it can be very relaxing
    Tarmel Udimo: yes
Calvino Rabeni: maybe a time for soul-searching or things like that
Play as Being 15 minute bell: Conversations here are recorded when ON AIR. Please see http://playasbeing.wik.is/
Play as Being 15 minute bell: Please observe 90 seconds of silence.
Play as Being 15 minute bell: Thank you.
Nymf Hathaway: Soul-searching is something which comes automatically every year at this time, for me
    Tarmel Udimo: yes?
Calvino Rabeni: Natural rhythms seem to support it?
Nymf Hathaway: yes, maybe due to the fact I try to live as close to nature as possible... seasons seem to take you to certain points in life... as spring has a totally different effect
IM: Calvino Rabeni: By the way, the log system is unreliable lately.  Missing people, or doubled.  I had to reconstruct from the hard disk file
    Calvino Rabeni: yes completely
Tarmel Udimo: yes you can't help feeling elated when you see new buds on trees
Calvino Rabeni: What do you do, to live closer to nature?
Nymf Hathaway: I try to "feel"nature... go with the flow, experience the different seasons and listen to my mind/feelings/needs
Calvino Rabeni: hmm, I think that way also
    Tarmel Udimo: nice
Nymf Hathaway: all answers seem to be in ourselfs
Calvino Rabeni: for instance, I let myself "hibernate" during deep winter
    Nymf Hathaway: oooh nice
IM: Calvino Rabeni: Seemed to be working well until recently
IM: Calvino Rabeni: Some logic error with the script, I believe
Nymf Hathaway: I do something simular... light candles, drink warm chocolat and read book or let my mind flow
Nymf Hathaway: sorry forget enter :)
Calvino Rabeni: yes! especially the flow part
    Tarmel Udimo: no worries
Tarmel Udimo: well why not flow through out the year!
Calvino Rabeni: There is a term being used - Seasonal Affective Disorder - have you heard it?
    Nymf Hathaway: no...please tell us
Calvino Rabeni: The idea is that people get depressed during the winter, and the theory is that it is from not enough light
Calvino Rabeni: It doesn't make sense to me personally or in my experience
Nymf Hathaway: yes I know it :) many seem to have it
Calvino Rabeni: The suggested idea is to get some bright lights
    Nymf Hathaway: Me neither :)
Calvino Rabeni: But I think, go with the flow
Tarmel Udimo: well I certainly suffered from lack of sun, when I lived in Canada
Calvino Rabeni: When I let that happened - no more depressive feeling
Tarmel Udimo: it made me depressed
Tarmel Udimo: yes but it was too cold
Calvino Rabeni: Maybe - from all year effect of the climate
Calvino Rabeni: I think people who are aware, remember throughout the year
Calvino Rabeni: and it balances out in their experience
Calvino Rabeni: If one really enjoyed the summer, and remembers it, the dark season seems ok and part of the flow
    Tarmel Udimo: agree
    Nymf Hathaway: Agrees Calvino
Tarmel Udimo: there is a difference though when there is no light
Calvino Rabeni: OTOH, if one stayed in the office all summer, then the winter might seem depressing
Calvino Rabeni: Darkness is a good thing as part of the cycle
Calvino Rabeni: But I hear what you are saying about canada
Nymf Hathaway: I agree again :)
Nymf Hathaway: and what about the people in scandanavia.... lightness during winter :)
Calvino Rabeni: When I moved from Seattle to California, I remember being more cheerful overall
Tarmel Udimo: well I agree intellectually that darkness is part of the cycle, but I also know that being in the sun for even 10 mins immediatly has a powerful positive effect
    Tarmel Udimo: well on me
    Nymf Hathaway: sure does
Calvino Rabeni: But I don't know what it would be like to live in a tropical climate
Play as Being 15 minute bell: Conversations here are recorded when ON AIR. Please see http://playasbeing.wik.is/
Play as Being 15 minute bell: Please observe 90 seconds of silence.
Play as Being 15 minute bell: Thank you.
Tarmel Udimo: well the seasons do chnage but its much subtler
Tarmel Udimo: its verdent and luscious
Nymf Hathaway: I do not know tropical... but we have summers which come close and the only effect it has is lazyness (sorry for the bad english)
Tarmel Udimo: yes lazy hazy days:)
Nymf Hathaway: yes :( not productive :(
Calvino Rabeni: Climate has an effect on culture too
    Nymf Hathaway: agrees
    Tarmel Udimo: agrees
Tarmel Udimo: I must admit I do love balmy nights
Tarmel Udimo: but yes there is a perception that one is less productive...
Tarmel Udimo: but what does that really mean?
Nymf Hathaway: already told this once here but... in my childhood our parents travelled across europe with us for 6 weeks... one day we came in spain and people were building a house my mom said; watch this build... when we come here next year they are still at the same point :) she was right :)
    Tarmel Udimo: hehehhe
Tarmel Udimo: yes time is seen and appreciated differently:)
Calvino Rabeni: They needed something else more than the shelter
Nymf Hathaway: yes and honestly Spain can be hot... I couldn't work at these temps
    Tarmel Udimo: undersatnd
Nymf Hathaway: People in warm countries seem more hot in their minds as well... not just in passion but also in temper in general
Calvino Rabeni: One thing I like about the hot climatess - is that when the sun goes down, people come out to play, and stay out late, if they have the energy for it
Nymf Hathaway: yes... active time shifts
Calvino Rabeni: Have you heard the saying "the night is for love" ?
    Calvino Rabeni: Another natural rhythm
Tarmel Udimo: I am sure somewhere:)
Calvino Rabeni: Summertime - I don't think nearly as much :)
    Piere Rhode is Offline
Tarmel Udimo: its all so personal isn't it:)
Calvino Rabeni: Personal, but also trans-personal. Everyone feels together, the feeling of the season
Calvino Rabeni: I think darkness needs a little extra appreciation
    Tarmel Udimo: OK :)
Nymf Hathaway: I agree Calvino... maybe people are afraid of the dark
Calvino Rabeni: Dark is the mother of light
    Tarmel Udimo: yes
Calvino Rabeni: In some way, people must remember they came out of a dark womb, and it felt ok to be in there
Calvino Rabeni: not afraid of that
Tarmel Udimo: electricity sort of shifted that for all of us
    Calvino Rabeni: surely
    Calvino Rabeni: distorting natural rhythm
    Tarmel Udimo: nods
Nymf Hathaway: I think society itself also forces people away from nature
Calvino Rabeni: yes, and electric light gave the power to productivity and industry
Play as Being 15 minute bell: Conversations here are recorded when ON AIR. Please see http://playasbeing.wik.is/
Play as Being 15 minute bell: Please observe 90 seconds of silence.
Play as Being 15 minute bell: Thank you.
Nymf Hathaway: Have you two seen the movie Avatar already?
    Tarmel Udimo: yes
Tarmel Udimo: what did you think?
Calvino Rabeni: I have not seen it
Nymf Hathaway: Smiles... thats connecting with nature to the fullest :)
    Tarmel Udimo: nods
    Tarmel Udimo: great visuals
Nymf Hathaway: You must Calvino...its worth every second :)
Tarmel Udimo: great concepts and presentation of the Gaia principle
Nymf Hathaway: I would love a talk with the writer, what a beautiful mind
Calvino Rabeni: Thanks, I will go soon
Tarmel Udimo: yes its worth seeing for sure!
Tarmel Udimo: nice chrismas present to self
    Nymf Hathaway: I agree :)
Tarmel Udimo: did you see it in 3D?
Nymf Hathaway: No :( someone else was asking me the same, but no, did you?
    Tarmel Udimo: yes
    Nymf Hathaway: and????
Tarmel Udimo: but I think it would be just as gopod in 2D
    Tarmel Udimo: good
Nymf Hathaway: oke :) is happy with that :)
Tarmel Udimo: I will be seeing it again in 2D so can let you know then...
Tarmel Udimo: well dear Pabers I am heading out
Nymf Hathaway: Great please do...because I will watch it again like you...and if the change is massive... I will get the 3d glasses :)
Tarmel Udimo: I have claimed the log and will post the chat
Nymf Hathaway: Have a good time Tarmel, nice to see you again :)
Tarmel Udimo: yes we'll have a deconstruction of Avatar and you too Calvino
    Tarmel Udimo: bye for now:)
    Calvino Rabeni: Sounds fun.
    Nymf Hathaway: bye bye :)
