The Guardian for this meeting was Storm Nordwind. The comments are by Storm Nordwind.
Storm Nordwind breathes in the morning airThe alleged "good host" got kicked out of Second Life at this point...
--BELL--
Storm Nordwind: Greetings friend!
Archmage Atlantis: Hello Storm, Greetings!
Storm Nordwind: Good morning Ms. Rubble
Adams Rubble: hello Storm and Arch:)
Archmage Atlantis: Hello Adams
Adams Rubble: Nice to see you in the monk outfit. It was the way you were when i started
Adams Rubble: and I feel like I am starting over again
Storm Nordwind: Every day, a renewal :)
Adams Rubble: or year or two :)
Adams Rubble: Hello eden :)
Storm Nordwind: Every day we awake, we can view the world through fresh eyes.
Archmage Atlantis: Some renewals are greater than others, I feel the world is about to reboot *smile*
Adams Rubble nods
Storm Nordwind: Good morning Eden!
Archmage Atlantis: Hello Eden
Adams Rubble: Hello Eden (I think you were out of range before)
Adams Rubble: Thank you Eden for taking my session last Sunday
Eden Haiku: Good morning Storm, Archmage, Adams ;-)
Adams Rubble: There is looking through fresh eyes and somewhat bewildered eyes :)
Eden Haiku: You are very welcome Adams.
Storm Nordwind: Bewilderment can be exciting. There may be something new worth exploring around the corner!
Adams Rubble: I went to you Kuan Yin Oracle this morning and it too gave me a bewildering answer :)
Archmage Atlantis: Now that sounds quite interesting Adams
Storm Nordwind: We can discuss that privately later if you would like. :)
Adams Rubble: Maybe too much of a private moment yet
Storm Nordwind nods
Archmage Atlantis: Ah well, brashness was alway my motif *grins*
Archmage Atlantis: That and bad typing and spelling
Storm Nordwind: Ah yes... that well known restaurant... the Thai Ping
Eden Haiku: You are not alone Arch..;-)
Eden Haiku: Thai Ping LOL!
Storm Nordwind chuckles
Adams Rubble: ?
Archmage Atlantis: I like that....Thai Ping....have to remember that
Eden Haiku: typing-Thai Ping...
Adams Rubble giggles
Archmage Atlantis: Good hosting, a humorous aside
Eden Haiku: A bit too much...you never know with gestures......and returned.
Adams Rubble: :)
Archmage Atlantis: Still, being not easily disuaded, looking up the Kin Yin Oracle, that is the casting of sticks?
Adams Rubble: yes but virtually in SL :)
Eden Haiku: Our host is levitating in cyberspace...bewilderment!We reflect on reflection! And then progress to learning styles.
Adams Rubble: wb Storm :)
Storm Nordwind: Thank you. My ethereal communication is unsteady this morning! :)
Archmage Atlantis: In my experience, the communication is steady, the receiver fluxuates in ability smile :)
Storm Nordwind: I was about to say... sometimes the randomness of typos can be a blessing. We learn from the new ideas we find unbidden
Eden Haiku: Kuan Yin oracle is at the Kuan Yin Terraces Archmage. Nearby.
Adams Rubble: Sometimes we get ourselves on a course that is likely to end badly and we feel we just have to follow it nevertheless
--BELL--
Archmage Atlantis: TY Eden
Adams Rubble continues
Eden Haiku: I read on the logs a newcomer said our bell was very polite here, It says thank you ;-)
Adams Rubble: at times like that it is good to pause and get "second opinions" :)
Storm Nordwind smiles at Eden :)
Eden Haiku: listening to Adams
Storm Nordwind: Second opinions can indeed be beneficial. Sometimes they give us fresh insight. Sometimes they help reinforce our existing view. They are always valuable... if we give ourselves time to listen. :)
Adams Rubble: the pausing helps to watch ourselves more closely
Archmage Atlantis: Ah yes, letting go of the impatience to know, learing to listen.....a lifelong personal lession
Storm Nordwind: That self-reflection comes more easily to some than others! What Eden suggest is quite astute. Though the two systems are different, it's interesting to contemplate the similiarities. Type 7 in the Enneagram system, is also known as the Adventurer or Enthusiast. Looking through my personal records, when I last did the Enneagram tests three years ago, I came out strongly as that type.
Adams Rubble reflects on that
Adams Rubble: :)
Storm Nordwind: I always found it hard to reflect. I went on courses where the first thing of the day was to reflect on what we'd learned the previous day. But...
Storm Nordwind: I so often found it a waste of time as I was always in the "now"...
Storm Nordwind: and reflecting took away the opportunity to experience the current "now" fully
Storm Nordwind: or so I thought!
Adams Rubble: I would never have guessed Storm :)
Adams Rubble: I like to think sometimes we are more open to reflection and other times we bull ahead
Adams Rubble: Once in a while we need a big stop sign
Eden Haiku: Some of us learn through action and exploration, others learn through reflecting. I think it is connected to being visual-oriented or auditive-oriented.
Archmage Atlantis: One sees the calm lake, not the glacier that forges it's lakebed
Storm Nordwind: That's interesting Adams. For me both those things would take me out of the "now".
Storm Nordwind: It is indeed the Activist learning style, Eden
Adams Rubble: hmmm
Adams Rubble: I learn both ways
Storm Nordwind: vs. the Reflective
Storm Nordwind: Yes, most people have multiple learning styles they prefer
Adams Rubble: by exploring and then reflecting on it
Eden Haiku: Yes, Adams, I think we all learn both ways but we have a tendency...I'm not too good at stopping to reflect either...
Storm Nordwind: I guess I have an extreme bias towards Activist - or so all the tests confirm
Adams Rubble: :)
Adams Rubble: I think the stop sign puts me into the now or at least a sort of timeless mode
Adams Rubble: drifitng in the timelessness
Eden Haiku: Activist is a new term for that type, I know Adventurer in the Enneagram, is it the same type Storm?
Storm Nordwind: No it's not the same type one-for-one, Eden. But I seem to recall I was that type!
Eden Haiku: Would you tell us more about the stop sign that is in front of you Adams?Perhaps Adams meant 550,000 minutes, rather than seconds, which would turn out to be a couple of weeks longer than a year.
Storm Nordwind: The styles I refer to are from Peter Honey and Alan Mumford's research, published in the 80s.
Eden Haiku: Thanks Storm.
Storm Nordwind: They identified 4 main styles: Activist, Reflector, Theorist and Pragmatist
Storm Nordwind: The "LSQ" is the most widely used in many circles in the UK
Eden Haiku: LSQ?
Storm Nordwind: Learning Styles Questionnaire
Storm Nordwind: But please continue Adams
Adams Rubble: I don't know that it often happens Eden but I just had the feeling now I had to stop
--BELL--
Adams Rubble: In scientific terms, maybe reformulate my hypotheses
Adams Rubble: rearrange my experiments
Adams Rubble: Hoping to keep the experiment from exploding :)
Adams Rubble: maybe the nitro not such a great ingedient
Adams Rubble is speaking in general terms
Storm Nordwind: The 9 second practice is all about stopping! :)
Adams Rubble nods and admires the way Storm worked that in
Storm Nordwind chuckles
Eden Haiku: very true.
Adams Rubble: maybe after 550,000 seconds we need a bigger stop :)
Storm Nordwind: The nice thing for me is that, with a prefered Activist learning style, I can just "stop" and not do anything else at all. Not imagine the future, nor reflect on the past. It's lovely!
Eden Haiku: You said you got the 'feeling' you had to stop Adams, so you are listening to an inner calling. That sounds good to me.
Archmage Atlantis: I find the 9/90 useful, but to stop for me is to cease to exist, to me it is just to continue to be, but to increase or decrease the detail of focus......
Storm Nordwind looks for his calculator to get some sense of proportion to Adams's number!
Adams Rubble: about a year Storm using an Art Historian's math
Storm Nordwind: Oh I find Archmage, that stopping reveals what I really am, what has never ceased to be!I find Eden's choices of words are sometimes delicious!
Adams Rubble: my reflection and your stopping Storm are beginning to sound familiar
Archmage Atlantis: And I find stopping to be running from what I really am, and never have ceased to be *smile*
Storm Nordwind: Wonderful differences Archmage! :)
Storm Nordwind also nods to Adams
Eden Haiku: Stopping is not an easy art for me but when I manage to do it, I always revel in it.As we start winding down, we're all concerned about Eden's eyes.
Adams Rubble: It seems harder to remember to do it sometimes
Storm Nordwind: I love that: "revel in it." :)
Eden Haiku: I wasn't sure it was the good word. I might be poetic by lack vocabulary sometimes ;-)
Adams Rubble: :)
Archmage Atlantis: Yes, agree, revel is a nice turn of phrase....it captures more meaning within it than other words that might have been used.
Eden Haiku: Beckett who was born Irish wrote his dramas in French: it kept him on edge...
Storm Nordwind: I find there is something sumptuous about the word "revel'.
Archmage Atlantis: Agree
Eden Haiku: I was trying to convey the feeling I got when we played this card game with my family during the holidays.
Storm Nordwind: I always found that words have textures. Is that just me being synesthesic? Or does everyone find that?
Eden Haiku: It is a role-play game with werewolfs and villagers, a sorcerer, a little girl, a seer and so on...
Adams Rubble smiles
Eden Haiku: Yes, textures, that is so true! They do Storm.
Eden Haiku: So we are all siting in a circle
Adams Rubble: or a new moon :)
Eden Haiku: and the master of the game says: now all villagers close their eyes.
Adams Rubble: ohhhh, sorry
Eden Haiku: So everybody would close their eyes.
Archmage Atlantis: a.) I find that also Storm.....b.) RL calls.....c. ) It has been my pleasure Storm, Eden, Adams ...to share this time with you
Adams Rubble: by Archmage :)
Eden Haiku: Goodbye Archmage...
Adams Rubble listens
Storm Nordwind waves
--BELL--
Storm Nordwind closes his eyes and listens for the game master's words
Eden Haiku: I remember the taste of sharing this silence with my family when my Mom ws still alive. She revelled in that game so much, for the peace of it.
Eden Haiku: She always giggled like a little girl when she came out of this ' meditation' moment,
Storm Nordwind senses the same anticipation like that of children that pervades the air on Christmas Eve
Eden Haiku: Yes, and in a way, it was alot like PaB!
Adams Rubble: what a powerful conection to the word revel, Eden
Adams Rubble: thank you for sharing that
Eden Haiku: Thank you for listening.
Eden Haiku: We were talking about stop signs before. I have one in front of me: my right eye is hurting. Too much screen time I suppose. I will have to cut it down.
Adams Rubble knows about that
Adams Rubble: last week was working with one eye closed :)
Storm Nordwind: I'm so sorry to hear that Eden
Eden Haiku: My eyes should be at the level of the top of the screen but this new computer has such a big screen that I'm afraid that is the source of the problem
Eden Haiku: I was even willing to chnage the desk but they are all the same level as mine...
Storm Nordwind: A desktop then, not a laptop?
Eden Haiku: No, a desktop.
Storm Nordwind: A higher chair perhaps?
Adams Rubble: does changing the distance from the screen help?
Adams Rubble: then changing the angle of the monitor
Eden Haiku: Tried that, could not find one, but I should keep looking,
Adams Rubble: computers can be rough on the eyes
Eden Haiku: Angle of the monitor, yes. I inquired at the store where I bought the computer they had no idea...
Storm Nordwind: Sometimes bigger is not better, I guess. :-/
Adams Rubble: I use reading glasses and need less powerful glasses when using the computer
Eden Haiku: I'm sure your work for the museum took a toll on your eyes Admas. This quite an accomplishment, I really enjoyed the Museum.
Storm Nordwind: Oh I understand now...
Storm Nordwind: ...you are tilting your head back ever so slightly
Storm Nordwind: and that will put pressure on your nerves
Eden Haiku: I wear glasses also but I need to take them off when I'm at the computer...
Adams Rubble nods
Eden Haiku: Bigger is definetly not better...
Eden Haiku: So I guess I will b e reasonable and leave the computer and rest my eyes in the beautiful sunny skies and fresh snow of RL for a walk in the cold.
Adams Rubble: walks are always good :)
Storm Nordwind: What a wonderful idea!
Adams Rubble: Nice to share this hour with you both though
Eden Haiku: It was very nice talking to you. Have a nice day Storm, Adams.
Storm Nordwind: You too Eden!
Adams Rubble: bye Eden :)
--BELL--
Eden Haiku: Feeling good!
Storm Nordwind chuckles
Adams Rubble: :)
Adams Rubble: I never know whether to keep pausing after the hour is up :)
Adams Rubble: You had a few more people than last week :)
Storm Nordwind: Perhaps the hour is never up!
Storm Nordwind: Ah... you noticed :)
Adams Rubble: I was planning to come to your session last Thursday but did not know the time had changed
Storm Nordwind: I was able to take a nice snapshot of a nearby mountain range and post it in lieu of conversation. ;)
Adams Rubble: yes, I saw. It was a nice photo :)
Adams Rubble: Thank you, it was a nice session for me this morning :)
Storm Nordwind: As above, so below. As in the large window onto RL here, so into the small window of SL :)
Storm Nordwind: I'm glad Adams. :)
Adams Rubble: have a very good day. bye for now :)
Storm Nordwind: You too. Bye!
