The Guardian for this meeting was Wester Kiranov. The comments are by Wester Kiranov.
Calvino Rabeni, Aztlan Foss and Stargate Tone came by as well. We started with some quiet time.
Wester Kiranov: hi cats, hi puffins
Wester Kiranov: hi cal
Wester Kiranov: what's that you're holding?
Calvino Rabeni: Wester :)
Calvino Rabeni: A tallking stick - if you click right on it, it gives a note
Wester Kiranov: ah
Wester Kiranov: hi aztlan
--BELL--
Wester Kiranov: hi stargate
Calvino Rabeni: <333 Stargate :)
Stargate Tone: Hi Wester and Cal
Wester Kiranov: nice dress
Stargate Tone: thank you
Stargate had an interesting question for Calvino.
Stargate Tone: would U mind Cal to share this ceremony there was in the meeting to which U took part on week end ?
Stargate Tone: or ceremonies ?
Calvino Rabeni: hmm maybe I can...
Calvino Rabeni: this practice gives an experience of deep time
Calvino Rabeni: as it has been done similarly for maybe 50,000 years according to its practitioners
Calvino Rabeni: always with a consciousness of the many varieties of living things and different beings
Calvino Rabeni: they all receive the respect of family relations
Calvino Rabeni: including generations in the past and in the future
Calvino Rabeni: and the ceremony is to understand that and to act in accordance with knowing that it matters
Calvino Rabeni: that is to know it exists and to honor it
Calvino Rabeni: For contrast with the modern mind, is self-centered
Stargate Tone: **
Calvino Rabeni: as the past no longer exists (therefore doesn't matter) and the future will somehow take care of itself
Calvino Rabeni: that's a smaller view of reality, compared to the long view seen in this tradition
Stargate Tone: ah; that's modern mind ?
Stargate Tone: ah...sry; didn't mean to interrupt
Calvino Rabeni: in which a huge variety of things and beings are alive, intelligent, personal
Stargate Tone: _/|\_
Calvino Rabeni: you can have relationships with them, talk to them
Calvino Rabeni: And doing so reflects upon one self.
--BELL--
Calvino Rabeni: It's not possible to look at an object and not have that mean something about oneself. That is, to see is to BE seen.
Calvino Rabeni: These are some of my impressions
Wester Kiranov: so it's an exercise in situatedness and interaction? As opposed to assuming you're on your own in the centre?
Calvino Rabeni: that makes a lot of sense
Calvino Rabeni: maybe not an exercise, more a whole world view
Calvino Rabeni: No meaning is encapsulated within an idea
Wester Kiranov: true
Wester Kiranov: aren't all exercises & practices there to change your world view?
Calvino Rabeni: No, some are there to express and sustain it
Wester Kiranov: you're right :)
Calvino Rabeni: some are there to serve the world that is understood to be behind the view
Calvino Rabeni: some are the world acting through oneself
Calvino Rabeni: What does one assume about the world and one's place in it - on a basic level?
Calvino Rabeni: I mean a basic myth..
Calvino Rabeni: Like the world is chaos and people have to struggle to create life out of it
Calvino Rabeni: Or that it is fallen from a past perfection
Calvino Rabeni: Or that it is meaningless, and people pretend it means something
Stargate Tone: lol
Calvino Rabeni: or that it is already perfected,
Calvino Rabeni: etc.
Wester Kiranov: To find your religion, even if you think you don't have any
Calvino Rabeni: There's often some such idea ...
Wester Kiranov: I think that's how Scott Peck worded it
Calvino Rabeni: If there's spiritual "work" to be done, what is it ?
Stargate Tone: hm...in case I have religion, it's that *I am*
--BELL--
Stargate Tone: yet; my religion dont tell at least to me, that what and what kind I am...
Wester Kiranov: (shhh)
Stargate Tone: sry
Wester Kiranov: I hope I haven't offended her or anything, that she was leaving anyway...
Calvino Rabeni: No worries
Wester Kiranov: I think I will leave too - RL is calling
Wester Kiranov: bye
Calvino Rabeni: OK, wester, take care, have a good day :)
