Did the meditation on the first opportunity that did not involve getting up earlier (which is starting to be the default now), which today was right after bringing the kids to school (and before breakfast).
It is so easy to slip into thinking you're meditating while in reality you just put your body in the right position and then wait for the "meditation" to be over again. This is also one of the differences between staring and relaxing the eyes, I found. edited 08:12, 14 Sep 2011
Breathing practice last night. Interesting to start off counting and to see how easy it is to seemingly come back and forth in awareness without losing count. One considers how many places 'in the day' are like this, where the driving still happens and the all motions seem to be going through, even though 'you' aren't exactly 'there'. Rearranged the bookshelf yesterday too. :) edited 11:36, 14 Sep 2011
I had to smile reading Stevenaia's contribution yesterday. Yes! Practicing until you fall asleep can be a win-win situation. I often do that when I have jetlag, something that happens to me for a few days at a time at least half a dozen times a year. During those ten to twenty days a year that the jetlag is strongest, when I wake up at night I go into a relatively simple form of practice, while lying still on my back in bed. When I'm lucky, and can stay with the practice for an hour or longer, that then feels wonderful. When I'm lucky, and it helps me calm down enough to fall asleep notwithstanding the jetlag, I'm happy too. So I'm always lucky. (^_^)
Woke today in a foul, defeated frame of mind. Sat for an hour before breakfast - letting the symmetries and balance of plants inside and outside participate with me, if they were in a mood to do that. Restored my personal balance and enjoyed the rest of this day thoroughly.
Choosing periods to pay more attention to.. funny, or slightly threatening.. when thought about.. overly.. recursively. Body grinning quizzically at reporter imagining just that. Reporter inspects introspectioning in spirals, imagining body chopping wood and carrying water.. in between fingers felt simply touching and withdrawing from keys on a keyboard. Feet on the ground. Seated. Elbows on armrests.
Concentrating on each green lobe, so elegantly constructed.
Paying homage to perfection.
Anything more might be a shout.
Anything less might be unheard. edited 01:50, 15 Sep 2011
Tried to meditate while grilling dinner, the time it takes to meditate, slowly, purposefully, mind mindful works against the time it takes for a perfectly grilled dinner, meditation stopped short of completion today... Dinner was delicious followed by fresh Halavah!! edited 03:46, 15 Sep 2011
Punctuating the daily activities of keeping this lifetime going with little gaps that pretend to be different;
meanwhile the daily activities of this traveller punctuating the big gap.
Sometimes little gap and big gap bump heads.
Every day little bumps on these pages. edited 12:10, 15 Sep 2011
