Meditated after bringing the kids to school.

Sitting meditation. I had found it difficult to stay standing up for the full ten minutes the last few days, so I decided to do ten minutes of sitting today. It's nice to feel the differences. It seems easier to stay focused when sitting, but there is a more closed, inside, quality to it as well. Standing meditation is more open and (therefore) messier, more chaotic.

Twas very tempting to skip sitting, after getting up a little before 6 am, and before taking off to a trek to the far east of Holland, more than a hundred miles from Amsterdam. But I decided to sit anyway, and was glad I did. Peaceful communing with Space and Time, and still in Time for a good though somewhat quick breakfast. To my happy surprise the Dutch trains now have wifi, hence my ability to log this report.

Second-last day. Sat briefly (and wrote this hurriedly) before work, having again risen too late. Oddly enough, my back-of-the-mind awareness of time passing (yet another monkey) didn't prevent it being quite calm and peaceful.

Wall gazing: rabbit, bear, cat, rainbow, sun behind mountain, road leading to and from at once. Wall... no wall, just wall, appreciating space in which wall presents space presents appreciation... rest, just rest, no rest. Alarm.

Extra sit today during funeral service for mom who died after giving birth to beautiful twin babies. Stories from her dad, sister, niece. Fabric threads, themselves sitting in the intensity of their experience. Life's original face.
