Recliner sit:
Watching yesterday's angry grievance relax into today's grief.
A stark caricature into fine art.
Disneyland into Yosemite.
Neon light into sonnet.
Cerebral cortex into abdomen.
Garish malcontent into intimate friend. edited 15:29, 9 Nov 2011

Meditated in the afternoon. Made my arms participate a bit more by keeping them in the basic tai chi form (the one used during Preparation): arms long and heavy, but with room at the armpits and elbows. And then the standard method: yield to the pull of standing up straighter on the in-breath, yield to the pull of relaxing on the out-breath. It was an interesting variation.

I am happy to have inspired Wol to try something new, but I do realize that my descriptions may not be sufficient for someone who is new at this particular kind of meditation. And then it becomes hard work.
I sometimes get trembling limbs as well, it's one of those things that just happens.
Standing up is often easier if you imagine it to be something that happens to you instead of something you do. Ways to do this are imagining that your head is pulled up by a string, or that it is a large floating balloon. And you can then dangle the rest of your body from your head.

I'm a bit surprised at stevenaia's comment. Isn't doing tai chi when sleepy a good way to let go of all the thoughts you have and let your body take over? You have me curious. Must try this for myself some time...

This morning my NYC apartment was indeed full of light, Luci! :-) A beautiful day, high sixties again. And I enjoyed Eos' "touch and go" message. So I decided to go on a walk through Central Park with "no allegiance but full attention."

@Wester Oh, I didn't go solely on your description, though perhaps I should have paid them more attention. I googled and a read a few how-to pages, but your description today of the ebb and flow of tension would probably have done me good -- and will do next time.

About to do a waiting-for-pizza-delivery meditation :) Be at one with the hunger, experience the moment of anticip.......

Wol, Standing meditation, like all positions requires some practice and alignment to be perfectly at balance and neutral, from feet at shoulder width apart, second toe aligned with your heel pointing straight ahead, knees slightly bent, hips slightly forward opening up your groin crease, and level, chest up, shoulders back, head up and slightly back over your spinal cord, arms up slightly and open like you have lemons in your arm pits, hands in front of you below your navel and breathe, filling your lungs top to bottom, back to front on your inhale and reversing that on your exhale. In a few years, if you're lucky, you can do it for an extended period w/o fatigue ....and Qi will flow smile.

Meditation to was a lovely change from miserable failure yesterday while half asleep. :)

Relaxation and prayer.. questions of what prayer, the layers of prayers for prayers to pray and sun and moon.. not expecting returns for light, warmth, reflection.. What is this body for? Where do prayers reside? ..answered, unanswered.. coming/going.. illusions of choice and certainty. Dalai Lama said.."This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness."
